(full name) Marlie Catherine Cawilra
(initials) MCC
(familiar by) Ari
(age) seventeen years (Oct. 9, year of the 46th Games)
(gender) female
(orientation) heterosexual
(district) three
(appearance) A frail skeleton, with smooth olive skin and bony, twitching fingers. When her height is measured, she is found to be at a height of five foot six. There is very little muscle on her arms, and her hand can fit around her opposite wrist perfectly. Her body is like an hourglass, with no sand left to fall to the bottom, nothing left to mark how much time remained for her to live. A faint scar appears on the inside of her thigh, and still more on her wrist.
Thick, chocolate locks fall wildly over her shoulders. Blond streaks swirl through her hair like wisps of mist, and the tips of her hair are a deep crimson. Her hairline is a widow’s peak, pointing downwards and making her oval-shaped head look like a heart. Her almond-shaped eyes are a pale, chilling blue, with greenish rings around them.
Her nose is snub and pointed, and her chin is rounded. Her ears are pointed, with her earlobes attached to the side of her head. Her curved, plump lips are a full, rosy color. Despite being well-fed, her ribs can be seen through her front at certain angles.
(personality) If one were to describe Marlie in three words, they would say “real wild child.” She refuses to let herself be daunted by authorities, or to follow the rules set by the Capitol. She could care less if she gets in trouble, and she never seems to learn her lesson. Love is a word that is rarely part of her vocabulary, for she tends to put her own needs before others. She enjoys the Games in some years, and other years she is disappointed.
Of course, there are those times when Marlie sits at home and relaxes. She sleeps most of the day away, and this is where her disorder begins to come into play. As a victim of parasomnia, she suffers from confusional arousal, bruxism and REM sleep behavior disorder. She is unaware that she has a problem, and tends to shrug off any mishaps or unusual behaviors during sleep.
Around her friends, she is rowdy and is always playing tricks. Her mind seems to regress to that of a third grader. Around strangers, her curious side begins to protrude, and she starts to showcase her various talents; wiring, gymnastics, and speed. In those dàys when sge is not skipping school, she goes out of her way to get into trouble and disturb as much peace as possible. Despite her rough history and reckless, she aspires of getting past her flaws and following in the footsteps of her favorite electrician.
(history) Born in the dead of night in the shambles of a dysfunctional home, with a desperate single mother, an absent father, and an alcoholic brother, Marlie wasn't exactly brought up right. In her first five years of life, she was taught no discipline and given no respect. As of this, she did not see the danger in messing with her brother's work. There was an accident, causing the scars on her wrist and thigh. When Marlie went to her first day of school bearing these scars, people were concerned. As such, Marlie was torn away from the only home she'd ever known and put into foster care. This was when her parasomnia began to slowly come into play.
At the age of ten, Marlie found herself out on the streets, abandoned by her foster family. She resorted to stealing food for a week, before she was forced into foster care again. Over the course of five years, she was bumped from home to home, no one being able to handle her behavior. Around this time she picked up her love of the Games, for she could immerse herself in the savageness and dream of how free the tributes lived.
Finally, at the age of sixteen, she was adopted by a family with a strict set of rules and regulations. She broke them all, of course, but the punishments were stricter. Occasional beatings, hour-long lectures, and a day spent in the cellar. Of course, this only made Marlie more exhilirated and thrilled to break the rules; the fact that there were so many punishments intrigued her. On her seventeenth birthday, her family went to a lake at the edge of the district boundary. There was a mishap with her adoptive sister causing her death. Marlie felt a little ashamed, and part of her seemed to die a horrid death. This is where the worse symptoms of her sleep disorder began rolling in; waking up in the dead of night, where no nightmares plagued her. With this, she also became submerged in the events of the Games, cheering them on and betting on the victor like a Capitol citizen would.
