Name: Iris Zaylie Morgenstern
Age: Eighteen
Gender: Female
District: Capitol
[/size]Appearance:
Her family could definitely afford for her to dye her skin a brilliant shade of blue or red. However, not favoring the coloring of skin, Iris settles for tinting her natural blonde-white hair in a variety of shades. She enjoys bright colors such as blue, purple, pink, and orange for herself since it would be the only color in facial features. Even though she has dyed her hair on more occasions than one, the locks are not damaged. In contrast, her hair has remained smooth as if she had never colored her hair. Currently, her falls about six inches past her shoulders with perfectly cut bangs straight across her forehead. The color is that of a light purplish blue shade.
She finds her name iconic. Iris. Why? Her eyes are such a dark shade of brown that is appears as if she doesn’t have irises at all. The shape of her eyes is quite big and lined with dark, long eyelashes. However, her eyelashes are quite thin, making her cover them with a thick layer of mascara. In order to make her eyes seem more appealing, she uses eye shadow is similar to her current hair color. Like normal people, she has eyebrow. Unfortunate for her, they do not match the blonde-white shade that was her natural hair color. The collection of hair is that of a dark brown, matching the irises in her eyes.
Below and in-between her eyes, lays a nose. From a frontal view, Iris considers the facial figure somewhat large for the rest of her face. However, from a profile view, the nose looks small with the bridge of her nose looking similar to that of a beak. It is cute rather than frightening. Her straight, white teeth are hidden behind a pair of not too big, not too little lips. The shade, like most natural people, is a light hue of pink. When she smiles, lines form from the corners of her lips to the base of her nose at, about, a 60-degree angle. The lines expose the colorless cheeks she owns. Her chin is round while her jawline is in the shape of a heart. At the end of her jaw are her normal sized ears. Like some Capitol residents, her ears are pierced. Hers have two holes.
She is short. And she hates this with a passion. Standing at only five two, Iris weighs a mere 105 pounds; therefore, she has tiny limbs. Her torso is neither too long nor too short. Her legs are the same. To match her tiny legs, are her ever-so lovely feet (including her ten tiny toes). Like most, attached to her arms are her hands. Her hands, like everything else, are rather small. Her chest fills out a B cup while her butt is boney and, almost, nonexistent. Her fingers are slender and short. Covering her body is pale skin that she refuses to dye a different, unnatural color.
When it comes to clothing, she loves to use bright, colorful clothing to highlight her pale skin, dark eyes, and brilliant hair. What type of clothing she wears depends on her activity as well as the outside condition. When inside, baking her incredible cakes, she often wears tanks tops with cotton shorts. However, during the fall, spring, and summer, she often wears skirts, high waist shorts, and dress (with skirts and shorts, she wears short sleeve shirts that do not clash with her hair color). During the winter, she steps into the pants zone, styling her jeans with sweaters, jackets, and coats. Iris doesn’t necessary follow Capitol trends when it comes to her clothing style, finding that most are too ridiculous for her taste. Plus, she likes to beginning her own trends; therefore, having people follow her.
Personality:
The thing she lives for the most is cake. Not eating it but making it. Learning most of her habits from one of her past Avox, Iris has become quite the fantastic cake decorator and general baker. Loaded with a great imagination, determination, and a family cookbook, she makes some of the most beautiful and tasty cakes in the Capitol. Well, according to herself and her family. She enjoys creating numerous tiers with colorful, fun icings and themes. She hopes she can make a career doing the task. Perhaps serving some of the future tributes her delicious cakes before they have to fight to the death? A girl can dream. For the time being, she will continue to sell cakes to the locals for birthdays and other minor ceremonies. Or just for her own amusement. Oh. And she is anything but lazy when it comes to her cakes. Iris is the only person she trusts to watch, time, and retrieve her bake goods from her oven.
The young adult is extremely creative when it comes to not only her cakes but also other arts such as clothing and writing. Cakes, however, take the majority of her creativity. Before she even begins her cake, she visualizes her theme (fairytale, diva, abstract, districts, etc) clearly in her mind. She then uses icing to creative elaborate designs and knives to shape her cakes the way she believes is best. Style and writing are more hobbies than passions. On occasions, she’d create something out of the ordinary for herself to wear or create short stories descripting happy, delightful tales where good triumphs evil.
One may consider this lively girl to be crazy. Others may think she is a big ball of fun. Both are correct. Since she lives in the Capitol, she has no worries; therefore, she is quite the happy individual. And she isn’t afraid if everyone knows. When out in public, it isn’t uncommon for her to make a fool of herself, laugh it up with strangers, and, even, getting herself in random but exciting situations. However, it is possible to have too fun. Iris, when in her extremely happy moods, cannot take anything serious, often making fun of grave events and not completing some important tasks.
She is never alone. Iris refuses to be. When friends are not available, she will make new ones of strangers outside. With the need to be with another individual at all times, she has developed advanced social skills. Sometimes too powerful since she has been known to annoy strangers. Because of her friendly personality, she likes to think she had quite the large amount of friends and acquaintances. She does a great job at not judging an individual based on social standing. She has even been known for trying to befriend some of her family’s Avoxes. Back before her epic cake obsession, Iris was known as being quite the socialite, hanging out with some other Capitol people of wealth.
Being from old money mixed with new money, Iris got everything she has ever desired. Because of this, Iris could be considered somewhat of a brat. As a child, she could get the best Capitol toys with the snap of her fingers. Her parents never hesitated. As she grew up, she had become aware of what she could get with a simple command, ultimately spoiling her. Her parents never forced her to “work” for the objects she had receive. They gave and she accepted. The End. Because she never realized the value of a dollar, it is likely she will live with her parents for a large amount of time instead of making a living of her own.
Adding on to being spoiled, she had become quite lazy because of her family’s wealth. When she was young, she found that every time she made a mess, there was a person, an Avox, to clean up after her. This resulted in her leaving messes around the home without consequences of her actions. At times, she expects things to happen and get accomplished without the use of her own time and effort. More recently, she leaves her personal kitchen in poor, unclean condition after she bakes her glorious cakes, knowing that once she returns, her kitchen will be spotless.
History:
On February 4, she was brought into the world. Unlike some of the District parents, Iris’s parents did not fear having children since, being a Capitol citizens, their children was not edible for the Hunger Games. So, Iris wasn’t the only child. In the waiting room were her two elder brothers and her elder sister. But this isn’t her siblings’ story. It is hers. She was 20 inches long, exactly. Her weight was a little below 6 pounds. Much like her father, Iris’s hair was that of a silver blonde at birth. Like most newborns, her eyes were blue since they have yet to choose a pigment.
Iris made her parents regret ever having another child since her screams often woke them from their slumber. Being from new and old money, the parents could afford a nanny to take care of the child when it screamed but her mother insisted taking care of infant Iris. Her mother claimed if the nanny were to take care of Iris so much, Iris would identify the caretaker as her mother. She could take that situation mental. So, every time she screamed at the top of her lungs, her mother would come to comfort, often bring the infant back to her bedroom, ultimately waking her father.
When she was two, her parents had another child, a boy. Because of this, her older brother began to pick on her more, claiming they had the majority now. Her sister, seven at the time, came to her rescue every time. Iris’s elder sister protected her from the damaging words and physical harm that came with have two elder brothers. Because of this, Iris had become extremely close with her sister, often following her sister until the point when her sister asked for time alone (which wasn’t too frequently). Spending the majority of the time with her sister resulted in Iris aging more quickly mentally.
When she was five, she, somehow, found their family kitchen. That particular section of this home had been shut off from the children’s knowledge since their family never cooked. They had Avoxes for that purpose. When the five year old crossed the room, she found an older Avox working on a cake that would be use for her family social event that night. It was a tall, multiple tier cake decorated with shades of blue as if were the ocean. Amazed at the cake, the young girl asked if she could assist the Avox in creating the beautiful cake. At first, the Avox was hesitant. However, falling for Iris’s childlike charm, the Avox nodded. From that day on, Iris checked the kitchen everyday to see if the Avox was working on a cake. If she were, the girl would ask to help.
A few days after she turned seven, her parents had their sixth and final child. A girl. At first, Iris was rebellious toward the child but later become protective of the youngest sibling. But, since she was still considered a child, Iris was not to take care of the infant child. She was only allowed to examine. So, once she got bored, she would go to the kitchen and see if the Avox was there. One day, she wasn’t there. However, that little factor was not going to stop the determined child. She turned the oven on herself and began working on a cake herself. However, when she left the kitchen to see what her parents wanted, the oven caught flame and took the kitchen with it. Iris denied ever being in the kitchen, afraid she’d get in trouble. So, the Avox that taught her everything got the blame and was forced to move into a new home. After that day, Iris refused to enter the kitchen again.
Thirteen was the age in which she found a family cookbook on one of the bookshelves in their library. Mostly recipes for cakes were found among the pages of the cookbook. Curiosity took over the teenager and she returned to the kitchen after six years. Baking a chocolate cake recipe she found in the cookbook, Iris began to find enjoy in making cakes all over again. After asking her parents for a kitchen of her own, they gave it to her without asking why. After choosing the large guestroom on the first floor, Iris created a format for her new kitchen (including everything necessary for cake baking). Nowadays, she has been baking cakes and creating elaborate designs. Only her little sister enjoys watching her work.
