[glow=red,2,300]PANEM EN KRUPP[/glow]
[glow=limegreen,2,300][] OPEN [] [] SET NEAR DISTRICT III [][/glow]
The forest was an odd place to those accustomed to the roughs of the city; but here I am far from the industrial haven of District III, having traveled the beaten path, with friends and allies at hand.
It was a large procession; and a legal one at that. We were certified by the Factory owner Albert Veere, with permission from the Capitol, to take part in this great task; we had gone far already, our city lay back in the horizon and we knew soon we would come to our destination.
My name is Pitch, and at hand follows my friend Naoko; we are both young, I 13, her 8, but we have been privileged to take part in this yearly task.
Naoko, myself, and a group of about a hundred strong were on our way to the Krupp Landfills. In itself this sounds minor, and by no means charming; but it held a degree of importance to many.
The Krupp Landfills were settled far from the city and served as the drain pool of ours and neighboring districts; it was a massive mess and they say from a hovercraft the earth below looks like a bruise inflicted deep into our world. It contained all sorts of filth and waste; every member was given a gas mask, that should talk for itself.
But what about this cess pool could warrant our activity? Resources. District III, even in the best of times drained its resources as a fierce rate; and infrastructure was so poor that it would usually be sometime before we got our stocks filled. Fuel, raw materials, metals, coal and other important things that kept the factories afloat may fall in short supply.
The Landfill was too us what the coal mines were too District XII; a livelihood of sorts. The Krupp Landfills were flooded with filth, but collected, recycled, and reused, it was like a gold mine. In years where fuel for the machines was low, truckloads of filth were taken, burned and converted to energy. Ruined items, fridges, televisions and even ruined hover crafts destroyed in the first rebellion, could all be torn apart and their metals and materials recycled. Among the mess, a man could find a living as he scavenged parts for the District.
But why send such people to do the collecting of these materials? Simple. The Factory owners didn't want to expend manpower or supplied so that outsourced that work.
However, the Capitol and the peacekeepers still had a say and a worry that this minute freedom may encourage some to runaway. A group of Peacekeepers always escorted the procession. Perhaps the reason Naoko and I were allowed to join in was that even if we runned, we would not be able to sustain ourselves, and that is most likely right- however, success could reward us with a general welfare and currency.
From what I knew of maps and word of mouth, the landfill was a place of danger and fortune. I had a friend, Georgi, who went on one of these 'tours'; while in the landfill, he apparently wondered around and got caught in an area of toxic fumes, but he found a diamond necklace! He fell into poor health; and he laughed and said "Pitch my friend, I can easily pawn this own and pay for my health now and forever!" Irony though serves all men, and that diamond necklace was made of glass. He died mid gasp.
The sun was high in the sky above. I wondered if we would make it to their by nightfall; and furthermore, I wondered what awaited us there.

[] I Didn't know if I could post this here, as most threads in this sections seem assigned to Runaways or Capitol fellows.
However I think this has alot of possibilities; other District III members could be a part of this, Peacekeepers or Capitol Representatives could follow along in the escort, and more then likely, some Runaways could be scavenging about the forest or landfill, who knows.
Though, if its felt this doesn't really fit in then it can be removed and abandoned if you so please. []
FINAL NOTES - The title "Panem en Krupp" will be touched on a bit later, also, it is notable that the name Krupp is in reference to a German Industrialists, the Krupps made arms and goods throughout both World Wars and was famous in its day.
Now, lets have a fun RP shall we?
