[[OOC: I'll try and keep my posts short and to the point, because you said that you're kinda new XD
EDIT: Oh my gosh, this post is longer then I expected it to be.. I'll make my other ones shorter, I promise.]]
Zinnia Yaren did not exist any longer. At least, it felt like it. She was homeless, she was always hidden out of sight, and she was even presumed to be dead by all of the people that she usually spoke to. She did not even look like herself anymore.
So maybe she did exist.. she just wasn't Zinnia anymore. She was some other fifteen year old girl, some girl who witnessed the murder of her father and once killed an innocent passerby on the streets of District One.
It doesn't matter, that's in the past.. she told herself. Everything that had once happened to her was done. She couldn't take it back, she couldn't do anything differently. It was the present time that mattered, not her history.
The only problem was, the present time wasn't so amazing either.
Zinnia Yaren was sitting on a small pile of snow on the curb, head resting on her cheek as she looked up at the sky. It wasn't blue as it usually was, but overcast and gray.
People were walking all around, avoiding spots where the ground was icy and the snow was thick to not slip and fall or get their shoes too damp.
Random passersby gave her strange looks as they walked past in their stylish clothes and their perfect hair. District One was the richest of the Districts, and she completely stood out from the crowd. Her clothes were old and out of style, her hair was tangled and needed to be cut, and she had the look of an extremely unhealthy person. If the circumstances were different, she might have even been pretty.
Someone kicked her purposefully, like she was a piece of trash that someone left on the ground. Immediately, she stood up and lunged towards whoever it was, but they were already walking away and in a moment they were gone.
She brushed herself off and took a step to run after whoever it was, but when she set her foot down on the slick ground, it caught a piece of ice and slid forwards, sending her toppling backwards. She flung her arms back to catch the fall, but didn't land exactly right and ended up slamming her arm against the concrete and scraping the palm of her other hand.
She bit her lip to hold back a pained noise, at the same moment thinking silently to herself, Shit, I hope no one saw me..
