It seems as though The Hunger Games bring on more lax policies at the primary school this morning. Everyone seemed to move in slow motion today, the second day of the Hunger Games. When I visited Sophie, she was as bright and bubbly as always. She in unable to comprehend what's going on despite the fact that she'll be entered in next year.
Sophie's smile always brightened up my day. I needed it today too; watching Archer fight for his life was almost too much. I was
especially close with Archer Fields. Well, he didn't know that. Actually, I'm pretty sure he has no idea who I am, but that doesn't matter because I'm in love with him.
Sophie's class made pins with pictures of President Snow on them. He looked cold and cruel, as usual, but I accepted as a gift and wore it on my shirt. I spent about two seconds wondering what other people might think when they look at the pin, but decided just to forget it. I stopped caring what other people thought a long time ago.
I walked back to my apartment slowly trying to think of other ways I could gain custody of Sophie. That's all I thought of anymore, it seems. As I walked on the sidewalk, I watched kids get let out of school. I left early everyday from school just to say from Sophie; I never left with friends.
The kids seemed happy and uncaring; I wish I could be that young again. I wish I didn't have to fight off other kids every other day just because I am of a different sexual orientation. I wish I didn't have to worry about Sophie and whether or not those bruises really were from falls. I wish I didn't have to pretend like the man and woman walking next to me with a young girl weren't the same man and woman that I once looked up to and loved.
As I saw my parents walk by without even a hint of recognition, I did a quick 180 to start walking in the other direction. My body crashed into another and we both fell onto the ground. I got up first in a rush to apologize.
"Oh man, I'm really sorry. Here let me help you up," I held out a hand to him and he looked up at me with the most gorgeous blue eyes I've ever seen. Archer who?
