Illiana had been traveling for awhile now. She had met some interesting people. Some had been nice, and others had told her to scram before they did something mean. It was no surprise that the teens eyes lit up as she finally caught site of the District Thirteen ruins. They look so different on the Capitols broadcats... Like most people, Lana had seen the demolished District before, but it seemed so different when you were actually looking at the broken down fence that used to border the woods, and trap the citizens within.
Her head shook in wonder, and Illiana paused, taking in the scene. Her footsteps were light, as she had practiced her stealth skills while in the woods. It made no noise as she stopped walking and stood about thirty feet away from her destiny. Part of the young woman was frightened--what lie in front of her? What did she hope to achieve--what if her siblings hadn't made it here? What if they had? So many questions soared through her head, wildly flying at her like the crows and doves and sea-gulls did in the Birds. (not that Illiana had seen the movie) Her body quivered, half in anticipation, half out of plain tiredness.
Nobody ever said trekking across the country would be easy.
A deep shaky breath finally announced her presence. Illiana Annwn watched as a small mockingjay flew off, startled by her small noise. Her blue-green eyes narrowed, and the girl took a step forward. 27 feet away was her destiny.
A step. A rather large one at that, her left foot fell on a twig and it made a loud snapping noise. Illiana did not care, the ruins she had been walking toward so long were like a shining light.
23 feet away was her destiny
It was like a shining light. So different than what she had imagined, but the ruins made sense. Confidence surged through her.
19 feet away was her destiny.
A cloud fell over the sun, and a gentle breeze stirred her white-blonde hair. Maybe Illiana shivered, but the cold did not bother her because...
16 feet away was her destiny.
One final glance behind her, and Lana took off running toward where her siblings had to be, where information on her Career Lookalike had to be kept...
and she tripped.
Typical...
She pushed herself up from the ground, her eyes filling up with tears, her cheeks turning bright pink. It seemed as though it was a sign! Illiana Annwn should just go back home, back to District Eight where everything was simple, and ntohing could ever hurt her. The cry of a mockingjay alerted Illiana to the presence of something out in the woods with her. The teen gave up trying to push herself off the ground, and instead layed flat on the dewey, wet ground, pressing herself as low as possible. If all Rebels are as crazy as my dear sis, then its better to be safe than sorry...
