Iris's heart raced. She had just met with Connelly again and it was well known to her that she was in love. Or, at least, falling in love. And also tired. Even though it was late at night, the small break between thunderstorms left the open forest humid, warm, and unbearable. She sat down carefully and opened a small canteen and drank a swig of it.

Night noises surrounded Iris. Owls, night hawks, crickets. It all seemed to lull her to sleep. She was tired after all. All that running. And surpressing the want to kiss. But mostly the running. Iris wasn't a very strong runner. She was mainly a climber. But running was essential out here.

Her eyes began to flicker. She wanted to rest. The sun had only just set. She could take a short nap. It wouldn't be too late when she got home. So she dozed off.

Caleb

As I was walking back to district 12 for supplys I passed a girl maybe a year younger then me asleep on the forest floor.

"hello?" I called nervously

when she did not wake I went and leaned over her and called again "hello?"

Iris jumped at the sound of a voice. It belonged to that of an older boy. She blinked a few times and resisted the urge to grab her dagger. The boy was only a little older, 15 or so, but still a little short. He had brown hair, green eyes, and looked burnt.

Iris pushed her ruby hair out of her eyes and pushed herself up. She extended her hand. "Sorry, must of dosed off there. I'm Iris."

"I'm Caleb, nice to meet you" I shook her hand.
"what are you doing in the woods all alone?"

Iris's blood ran cold as Caleb asked her what she was doing out here. Iris was a paranoid sort. Very suspicous these days. She didn't know who he was or if her information could hurt her. If he knew her step-mother, he could tell her that she'd been in the forest, and seeing Connelly.

Iris didn't lie. She just left out details. "I was meeting someone and got tired."

"you know sleeping in the woods filled with dangerous animals isn't the best idea"I said with a smile. "Hey, can you help me get back I'm coming from pretty far away, and don't quite remember the rest of the way?"

Iris grinned. "Yeah, I know. I guess I was just really tired." He asked her another question. "Sure. Just tell me where your going. I have time. Plus, I know this place like the back of my hand," she bragged.

Iris's hair blew like crazy in the wind. She pulled back her ruby hair and tied it in her leather strap.

"I'm Just trying to get back to district twelve I've been on a long trip"
I said "I was in the district thirteen ruins"

"Hm... Okay then. Let's see, I was heading northwest...," Iris paused and pointed the opposite way. "So, it should be straight that way. Come on, I'll show you."

"Thanks" I say, and give her a big smile

Iris decided to make conversation as she began walking back south. "So, what were you doing here if it's so dangerous?" she asked, blowing her ruby hair out of her eyes again.
