Appearance:
If there is one thing Lenoura Kanter is most known for, it is her ability to stick out like a sore thumb. Although her beauty may be accepted by most, it is within her own District where she is considered "out of place". Standing at five feet, eight inches, Noura is rather tall for her age. Of course it's no surprise to her since her father is a giant, but most people she meets are stunned by her height. She has a thin frame attributed to her meager weight of 125 pounds. Thankfully however, it suits her stature and build, making her appear dainty and lean instead of sickly and starved. Noura has a slight curve to her hips allowing some femininity to shine through her "boy-like" figure, but unfortunately has a rather small bust; something she definitely did not inherit from her mother.
Noura's skin unlike most people of her District is very pale. No one in her family knows why she is unable to tan, and it is something that has definitely shattered her self esteem. She detests her porcelain skin, but no matter how much sun exposure she subjects herself to, her body refuses to tan. Regardless of how much she tortures herself over that very fact, she was blessed with clear skin and like most people who spend time on a boat has her fair share of scars on her hands and shins. She could care less of course, the scars help her mindset of hating her skin.
Lenoura's face is square-shaped with a very defined jawline. Her nose is also quite prominent, but isn't large enough to be the first thing you notice when you look at her face. Her almond shaped eyes seem to always express a timidness Noura is all too familiar with. Her eyes are a soft hazel color, where the iris is predominately green with brown flecks dispersed here and there. Atop her head rests a thick mane of wavy dirty blond hair that stops at her breasts. On very sunny days the top layer of her hair appears blonde with the brunette showing off underneath. Because of the breeze the water always brings Lenoura refuses to brush her hair. She enjoys the windswept look and feel and will usually have half of it tied up with the addition of a rope mimicking a headband at the crown of her head, showing off her slightly large ears she somewhat enjoys. Her mouth is very small paired with full coral lips.
Since pants are usually not a viable option for Lenoura because of her body type, she normally wears flowy dresses made of a light material and brightly colored. Her favorite shoes are sandals of any kind and she really enjoys being barefoot, despite her fathers constant bickering. When she's on a boat however, she switches her wardrobe to shorts and short sleeved tees. Although she doesn't usually have many options to choose from since her family isn't very wealthy, she's pleased with what she has, and is thankful for it. Her most prized possession is a shell bracelet she wears on her left wrist that her father made her when she was 8.
Personality:
Quiet. That's what anyone and everyone can ever say about Lenoura. A timid girl constantly avoiding conversation and always never quite there. She seems to be lost in a world other than the one she lives in, and when looked at dead in the eye will immediately evade the stare.
Despite the vivacious family she was born into, Noura usually never utters more than a few words a day. She mainly enjoys keeping to herself and has grown accustomed to the weird vibes people immediately subject her to. She's been called odd and weird, but finds it hard to be hurt by such words. If her looks weren't enough to display her abnormality, then she honestly wouldn't know what would.
The faintest smile however can always escape her lips whenever she finds herself around the sea. She absolutely adores the water her district is surrounded by, and makes it a daily action of hers to be on a boat at least once a day. By the sea she can smell the salt that permeates the air and can feel the mist of the water touch her cool and pale skin. As a child her father always knew she drew a deep connection to it, one he himself couldn't even explain. It was clearly no surprise to him that his daughter was an excellent swimmer, the only thing that made her feel welcomed in District 4.
Regardless of her invisible demeanor Noura is quite the spaz. Balance is definitely not her forte, thus enforcing her strength when in the water. Her hands shake ever so slightly, causing her to hurt herself with hooks on occasion, and falling down inside her home has become so much of a norm that no one jumps to their feet when a thud is heard. She has two left feet and has learned to deal with the gawks strangers give her when watching her trip over herself in the town square. Because she knows how agile she is in the water, she tries to use that thought alone to get through the day.
She is an all-loving individual who places her family before herself. Ever since her mother's death, she does all she can to look out for her father and younger brother. If there is one thing she isn't, it's a quitter. Regardless of how tough things may seem, she tries her best to make them work, even if she does it in her fragile and quiet way.
History:
Eleven. That's when everything had changed. That's when the already hardship ridden life Noura was all too familiar with decided to take a turn for the worse. And she hadn't even attended her first reaping yet...
Living in District 4, although close to the Capitol and the water, had it's obstacles. Born into a lower middle class family, Lenoura was quite a sight to behold. Her mother Lill and her father Reef were very surprised to see that their baby was nothing like what they had expected. Instead of sharing the same skin color as her family, or rather her people, she was as pale as the moon and looked thin even as a newborn. No matter however, her parents were delighted with their little gift, and did all they could to promise her a wonderful upbringing.
Reef and Lill made their living the way most did in District 4. Reef was a fisherman who took pride in sailing on the water hauling in most of the aquatic life the Capitol would feast on. Of course most of his haul would be shipped immediately to the Capitol, but he was allowed to bring some home in order to feed his family; which wasn't as hard a task because he only had one child. In addition, Lill would take some of her husbands fish and bring it to town where she would open up a small stand decorated in ropes she would knot herself and sell whatever she could in order to bring in more of an income. The family was comfortable with their station in life, and Noura was growing to be a bright child thanks to her education. They never went hungry, but did at times feel the panic set in when a haul wasn't as great as Reef had promised.
Then, a year before her first reaping the unthinkable happened; Lill had become pregnant. Of course to most it would have seemed a joyous event, but to a family that got on well having only one child and not much space in their home, they soon discovered it would be a terrible thing. When the time had come for the baby to be born there was no celebration afterward, no smiles to be shared. Noura had lost her mother in childbirth and now had a baby brother to look after, and a broken father to patch up.
The months and years to follow were the hardest for Lenoura. Her baby brother Dewey, who even resembled her late mother, needed constant attention, and caused her to have to stop going to school. It was a decision she made in order to keep her family alive. She took on her mothers role of taking up stand in the square, selling whatever her father brought home, with Dewey at her side. Once she was old enough she signed up for tesserae, regardless of the repercussions it dealt to her chances of being reaped. Although the supplies were few, it was enough to keep Dewey alive.
As the years passed Lenoura found herself much more comfortable in her "motherly" niche. She cleaned, cooked, brought Dewey to school and made sure to spend time with her father at sea. If there was one thing she was most proud of, it was the fact that despite their tragedy, they were able to survive and move on. Of course there are times she desperately wishes her mother were still alive, but those are thoughts she normally suppresses. Instead she lives in her quiet world trying to protect the man and little boy she loves most in life.

Comments/Other:
Lenoura absolutely loves the color orange, and has very quick hands, despite their slight trembling. Another fun tidbit, she enjoys the smell of fish on her father's hands.
If anything needs fixing please let me know ^.^
