Appearance:
Satin is very well nourished because of her dwelling in District 1. She is 5"4 inches tall, and she hates it. She has soft, round hands that smell of the sweet lavender perfume that she sprays on every day. She has a large scar across her ankle, which was received when she wounded herself trying to jump over barbed wire, when she tried to wander into the woods at a young age. She has high, thin eyebrows that emphasize her eyes. Her eyes are said to be her most beautiful feature; they are a stunning shade of sapphire blue, which slightly lighten in the sunlight. People have said that while looking into her eyes, no lies can be told.Personality:
She has loose blonde hair that is curly, but can get messy easily. Satin hates how her hair gets tangled at night, and spends a lot of time in the morning combing it. Her hair falls halfway down her back in waves. She mainly wears it down, but occasionally in a messy ponytail. She has hard lips, which she bites constantly while concentrating on something. This makes them slightly chapped. She has long legs, which she is always teased for. Her family joke that she is a "Daughter Long Legs." She does not care about her appearance, but her family do not want her to "bring down the family name" by "looking like she's from District 12" so she must always smear makeup on and look exceptionally beautiful.
She normally wears light, loose clothing in soft colours; baby blue, pink and minty green. She rarely wears trousers; it's always flowing skirts and tank tops with heels and a cardigan. She always wears her charm bracelet, given to her by her dear grandmother. Her grandmother died when she was 8, but Satin makes herself believe that while wearing that bracelet, her grandmother is present with her. To parties, she wears long, elegant dresses with her hair strung into a beehive. Her favourite party outfit is a long, flowing pale pink dress that is layered at the skirt, with tiny rhinestones spread around the top part. Satin is a very well-dressed girl.
Satin is not your stereotypical spoiled child from District 1. Satin is very different. Her parents disagree with her difference to the rest of the family. She has two older siblings, Platinum and Vine, who are always neatly clothed and mannerly. Satin is fun-loving and cheeky. She does not feel accepted at her home, so she normally seeks solitude at the old library; which is usually empty. She is not very close with her family, leaving her quite distressed and angry.History:
Satin hates society. She secretly hates the Capitol, and wishes to rebel against them. She is against racism and believes that The Hunger Games are a wicked scam.
However, Satin has many interests to entertain herself. Satin loves to sing, but nobody has ever heard her voice as she is too shy. She has a high, soft voice which is indescribable. She likes to go to the run-down remains of the theater and traipse into the choir room, singing silently. There she discovered the old piano, and taught herself to play some tunes. She is not excellent at piano, but she is pretty good. Whenever she is upset she will sneak out and play tunes on the piano, singing along passionately. Music is her secret, and she's OK with that.
However, she has her flaws. She is horribly clumsy -- it's rare someone agrees to dance with her at balls, because they're all too worried that she'll step on their feet. She will stumble over the smallest thing; her knees are sprained quite often; so thank goodness her long skirts and dresses cover them up! She is awful at dancing, and can never keep up with the beat. Her clumsiness makes her dancing ability ten times worse.
Satin has a deep love for music and old fashioned movies. She will use the old player at the theater to watch movies from long ago. She has her own little scrapbook where she writes and reviews the movie, and collects as much pictures as she can of it. She has filled up two scrapbooks already.
She hates parties, dancing and the high expectations her family has for her. She is stubborn and loves to play pranks, and is scolded constantly for that, being told to "act more like a proper woman." She will normally be left sitting on the side of the room at parties. She hates crowds and gets very uncomfortable at places where there are a lot of people.
Satin is different -- and she's proud to admit it.
Satin had a rough start. She was premature and was very small and weak as a baby. She had to stay in the hospital for weeks, until finally she was well enough to be held by her mother. Apparently, her siblings crowded around her and begged to get a go with holding her.Codeword: oDair
When she was three years old, her oddness became more obvious. She would barely socialize and spent the whole day either in her room or outdoors. She loved to play imaginary games. "Elsa" was her favourite imaginary friend. Elsa was a poorer girl from one of the lower districts, but they were very close. Satin would go to the woods with Elsa and they would climb over the barbed wire and go for walks. They would pretend that the animals were their special pets; "Silk the Squirrel" {a grey squirrel that always happened to be around; Satin insisted that her fur was "as soft as silk."} and "Snow the Rabbit" {a white rabbit, with fur as "white as snow, like that old fairytale, Snow White."}
One day she went out to the woods with Elsa and didn't notice that the barbed wire was switched on. Satin attempted to climb over it and got a huge shock. She stumbled onto the ground on the other side and caught her ankle in the wire. It started to bleed vigourously. She had no choice but to scream as loud as she could for help. After an hour, someone finally noticed; the sweet librarian, Nova. Nova picked her up and wrapped her up in her cozy shawl. She carried her into the library and treated her cuts. Then she brought her back to her parents. Satin didn't recieve any sympathy. She received a slap across the cheek which made her skin turn red. Nova was shocked and rushed off quickly. After that, Satin started to visit the library more often to get away from her parents. Sometimes she would stay there all day, until Nova had to shut down the library; at 8PM sharp.
Moving into her teenage years, she lost her freedom. She was constantly forced to attend local parties; and she hated it. She would trip and ruin her dress, get a scolding and stumble home, sobbing. She was always told to be more like her older siblings, Platinum and Vine; who waltzed around slowly and perfectly in their spotless outfits.
Satin never felt accepted at home. She felt that she always had to be her parents vision of the perfect daughter -- someone she wasn't. That was why she isolated herself and spent most of her time wandering about. She went to the only places she was at peace. Satin had her secrets, and she planned on keeping them.
Comments/Other:
I would say that Satin is a bit like me, the way she prefers to exclude herself from what's mainstream and normal and try to be as strange and different as possible.
