Age: 19
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 1
Appearance:
[/blockquote]Personality:Standing at the height of 5’11 Near is of ridiculously average height. He weighs in at an underweight 150 pounds, which is underweight for District 1 only. Near isn’t exactly the career looking type. His physical build suggests he rarely works out, put that on top of his smooth skin that lacks the calluses and bruises a District 1 boy would expect to have. He looks his age, a healthy 19, with light stubble brushing his face he gives off an appearance of more maturity than the average 19 year old.
Near’s blue eyes pierce through people and look straight into there soul, or so he would like people to think anyway. His eyes nicely compliment his tanned skinned and wavy brown hair that is pushed up above his forehead, it naturally falls all over it’s self in a seemingly sculpted fashion. This is somewhere he does fit into the District 1 expectations he is a pretty boy, he rolls out of bed while the clouds part and the rays of sun cast down upon him while the animals sing to him and put on his flannel, V neck or whatever he happens to wear that day. No that’s not quite right, it’s more like Near rolls out of bed at 1:00pm everyday and drags his skinny self to the shower. He throws on the first average looking clothes he can and then heads out of his house.
Normally found wearing grey flannels or v-necks when it is warmer is the ever so attractive Near. His muscles aren’t ripping his shirt off of him like the norm in District 1, so he already stands out. It isn’t like Near is out of shape, he just runs and conditions himself instead of lifting weights. With his grey shirts he normally wears Dark colored jeans that are semi tight fitting and he tucks them into the Tongue of his black high top Retro shoes. In the colder parts of the year you can find him with a black Peacoat and a darkly colored beanie. He keeps his color scheme dark as to not stick out in public.
[/blockquote]History:Philosophical
Near always thinks things through past the average human. He makes all his decisions using reasoning and logic. Many accuse him of being a pessimist, but he prefers the term Realist or a Pragmatist. He isn’t a Pessimist for a few main reasons. He never assumes the worst, he assumes the most Realistic outcome of possible situations, and the hard truth is, often the worst situation is the most realistic. Being a Pragmatist, Near is extremely practical in his use of solving problems or assessing situations.
Near’s main Philosophical theory is Skepticism, the belief that there can never be true knowledge or certainty of any topic. As a result of this state of mind, Near is very doubtful towards other’s knowledge he doesn’t trust anyone who can’t Philosophically prove there points to him. This leads into the main trait that makes Near who he is. His lack of trust for anyone, he appears as an outcast to the everyday District 1 resident. He stays mostly to himself, but he will preach his Philosophy to any one who will listen, though he feels his knowledge goes over most people’s heads in District 1.
Another thing Near comes off as until you get to know his personally is rude or hostile because he questions strangers he hasn’t met and degrades any knowledge other try to share with him. Near is lonely though he wouldn’t dare let any one know it. He does like, a normal person, crave interaction and touch from a significant other.
A Philosophy that Near hasn’t been able to fully understand is Existentialism, the belief that the individual is solely responsible for his or her own life meaning. The thought that people control their lives bothering Near proves his skepticism, pragmatism and realism. There has been no evidence to support Existentialism he has ever seen, though he can’t think of any reason for that not to be true.
[/blockquote]Codeword: OdairIn the past Near went through plenty of changes, for better or for worse. Near was born into a middle class family as an only child. As a young child Near was just your average District 1 Career in training. He learned how to use swords, and axes… and bows… and the occasional nun chuck use, nothing out of the ordinary. Around the time Near was turning 11 just one year before he was eligible to be selected for the Hunger Games, he decided, to his parents horror, he didn’t want to have to kill a load of his piers in a death match where the odds weren’t exactly favorable. He was sure even if he did end up getting selected the other older Careers would be tripping over themselves to represent District 1 in the Hunger Games. His parents were furious, everything they had ever wanted for there son crashed and burned until nothing was left, neither his mother nor father were ‘lucky’ enough to be selected for the Games, so they wanted to live out their games fantasy through Near.
Near’s parents never forgave him. They disappointedly let the slacker of a son they had remain in their house until he turned 18, before then he was completely left alone by his uncaring parents, they didn’t make sure he went to school or came home, Near was basically supporting himself getting his own meals and keeping his education alive. Even though Near was smarter than the average student at school he had never been particularly interested in any school subjects, school was just a place for him to go during the day. He breezed through a majority of his classes without struggling at all. When he was 17 some of his friends talked him into taking a Philosophy class, Near had finally found his call to life, things ancient people had been saying about humans and governments made so much sense to him. When he was 18 he moved out of his parents home into a small house alone where he began his search.
Near was introduced to a group of intellectuals named the Philosophes, or Philosophers in French. They were the intellectuals of the 18th century during the Enlightenment when knowledge really started becoming valued among people. Even though this was ancient information and most of it had been lost or terminated, what Near did learn inspired him to Philosophies for a living and make a modern group of Philosophes that all of District 1 would look up to as the most intellectual people in the world. Now he just needed to find the correct people to fill his group, the rest of the Philosophes.
