You're watching the cars,
Movies and stars
They are your lifetime
Yet all that I am is
Half what we are
Maybe some other time

I have watched her from the day we entered the Capitol. Observed her slender form flutter from tribute to tribute and from victor to victor in her usual display of haphazard grace and glory. (Victors have always fascinated me), I've watched, years past, as the calm shell of a champion slowly dissolves into the melting pool of their disillusion that this could be their year, the year they save some ill-fated bastard from their fate in the arenaby setting them up to kill some other's victor plaything. Every year the young victors get more and more disheartened as theirchildrentributes are killed in some brutal manner or another. This year isn't any different, and already I can see the worry etched on the face of more than one mentor.
I approach the scarred swan one morning, early into training, as she sits away from the crowd (surprising) I find myself thinking as I slip into a seat across from her triumphant silhouette. I don't say anything for the longest while, and instead choose to just stare at her beautiful lips and falling hair. (the attributes of a murderess) because of course they had all fallen their fair share of tributes in order to hold onto the fragility of their own lives. They were all killersand none of them had enjoyed the marvelous fate they had bestowed upon their victimsand they all held tightly onto the crowns of their honor and glory. (she is a tantalizing site to see)
I took in a deep breathe before I spoke, carefully and quietly, towards theslightlyolder woman. "I remember your games, Lethe Turner."
I'll get it right I'll get it right
Oh sweet voice on the phone
You sound so alone
'Cause you couldn't be wasted
To you I am
I'm less than a man
Oh sweet voice on the phone
You sound so alone
'Cause you couldn't be wasted
To you I am
I'm less than a man
