Age: 16

Appearance:
Personality:
Rachel is a girl of average height and weight. She is not very muscular, and has a healthy amount of fat. She has straight, dark brown hair that falls slightly below her shoulders. It's not uncommon to see dandruff hiding in her hair. Her brown eyes are slightly magnified by her red, horn-rimmed glasses. She's not very attractive to a normal person, though when she tries, she can be a good eyecatcher. She is also slightly pale.
Her choice of clothing is generally lazy. She'll pick out whatever clothes she can find, and just wear it for the whole day, not caring whether it's dirty or clean, sometimes not even wearing it properly. She never leaves home without her leather shoulder bag, usually filled with books. On special occassions, she may try to actually dress well, though only if she feels up to it. Overall, she gives off a very nerdy atmosphere, and tends to not be the center of attention.
If you called Rachel a nerd, you would be correct. You'd be even more correct to call her a bookworm. It is a very rare occassion to find her excercising, and even rarer to find her without a book. She really never found 'nerd' to be an insult, in fact quite the opposite; she takes it as meaning intelligent, and having a love for arts. The books she reads are always varied, sometimes she'll read a fantasy novel, other times a non-fiction book about trees. Her obssession with books has made her nearsited, though she doesn't want laser eye surgery, as she believes glasses make her look smarter. Her obssession with books is also known to be in the way of her practically non-existant social life. Other than her adoptive siblings, she has no other friends, mainly driving them away when she accidently makes a snobbish remark without realizing it.
Rachel's constant reading has given her an odd affinity for birds, especially ravens and eagles. Her love of birds has lead to her referring to herself as 'Corax', the latin name for the common raven. Despite what others believe, she does have a good sense of humor, though since she only really talks with her siblings, only they really know. She has little to know experience with actual work in her district. Her constant reading has made her rather creative and clever, but not even her siblings are aware of it, as she hasn't had a chance to show it yet.
As many would guess, she's not a career. She's clumsy, weak, and her nearsitedness gives her poor coordination with long range weapons. If she has a problem with someone, she often times lets her adoptive siblings deal with it, leading to assertiveness problems. Some people tend to think she's a condescending snob, but she doesn't do it on purpose. She's just bad when it comes to meeting new people. Despite seeming very smart, she rarely thinks about the future or the past, and simply reads her way through life, believing nothing will disturb it.
History:
Rachel was born to a wealthy District 1 family. However, that made little difference on her life. Her parents were executed by peacekeepers for protest against the Hunger Games when she was young, leaving her orphaned. She lived for a while in an orphanage, bullied by others and hiding away in the books she discovered. They helped her escape her life and forget about her issues.
In school, she made friends with another boy, named Simon. The two began to grow attached. Simon was a very convincing person, and after so long of persuading her, she decided to run away from the orphanage with him. She moved into his mansion with him, as well as two others. All three of them quickly became a family, doing everything together, and having a great time. She found that when with her new family, she never needed to hide behind a book to have a good time. Her family made her forget everything that was happening in her life.
She has no memory of her parents, and in fact, feels almost no sadness for not having them in her life. While she has inherited her family's money, her friend Simon insisted on giving her the luxuries she would need, so she never even touches it. She does well in school, never failing a test, though also having little to no social life, outside of her family. She never thought much about her old family, or what they were protesting. The Hunger Games was always a feared event, but she found if she had a good enough book, she would never even notice. It became a tradition to bring a very specific book to every reaping, to immerse herself in.
