Dimmer Cadieux
[/color]Name: Dimmer Pearl Cadieux.Age: Thirteen
Gender: Female
District/Area: The Fifth District of PanemAppearance:
Dimmer Pearl Cadieux is not too short, but not that tall, either. She stands at a solid height for thirteen. However, her weight is slightly under the minimum it should be. She doesn't eat too often, and, when she does, it is only in small portions. Plus, she never eats meat -- only vegetables and fruits. Actually, she really only eats various plantlife scattered throughout the woods.
Dimmer's hair is rather dark in color, and quite lengthy. She hasn't had a formal hair cut in years. Her face is spotted with dirt, and her skin is tanned from living under the sun. The darkness of her face greatly contrasts with her bright dodger blue eyes -- a trait she inherited from her mother. Her lips are heavily chapped, but she no longer notices petty things such as that.
Personality:
Dimmer Pearl Cadieux is most definitely not a people person. She has not had any physical contact with other human beings in at least one year; however, this number is only an estimate. It is likely the time has been much longer than only a year. Dimmer is timid when it comes to communication at all, even with her faerie friends. When she does speak, she repeats the last word she says in an echoing way. Though she has done this for years now, she hasn't a clue that she does. If Dimmer said, "Hi there, how are you?" it would be followed by "you, you, you.." This is because of a disease she possesses, known as echolalia.
Some would say that Dimmer is not all there; if you took a look in her mind, though, you would realize she is a rather intelligent individual. She has full, processed sentences and the echolalia does not change her thoughts. Dimmer tends to strategize each and every day of her life. She plans out what she should do, and then does it. She is not a procrastinator at all, and is very organized. She keeps her nook as clean as possible -- going as far as making a rug to wipe off her feet before lying down. Some would say she is a bit of a neat-freak; but, she is in no way OCD.
The biggest part of Dimmer’s personality is probably the faeries she visits with every day. A few yards away from her nook is a small brook, where faeries appear to dwell. Of course, the faeries are not really there -- but she thinks they are. This could be what people refer to when they say she is not all there. though she has never revealed this sensation to anyone but herself. Her most favorite of the myriad of marvelous magical faeries is the one named Lamica. Lamica makes Dimmer happy no matter how her day has been. The other faeries are fun, but Lamica is the best.
History:
On a breezy day in the month of March, a young man was riding his beloved horse Banjo throughout District Ten, delivering packages for his father’s business. The man, whose name was Thackier, made his way out into the far end of the District, where he was to deliver a parcel to a lady named Veranda. When Thackier reacher Veranda’s barn, the man instantly felt a connection to her, and asked if he could see her again. Veranda, feeling the same connection, said yes. For the next six months Thackier would give himself mail to deliver to Veranda -- just so he could visit her.
One day, when Thack arrived at Veranda’s barn, her parents had left for town for a while. Thack took this as a chance to enter her house for the first time; so, he did. Veranda showed him around the inside of her living quarters. You all know what happens after that.
Needless to say, eight months later there was a small child held in Thack’s arms. He quit his job with his father to be able to take care of her, while Veranda continued tending to her horses. She took on her family job of horse trainer after her mother passed of old age.
Once the small child, known now as Dimmer Pearl Cadieux, was old enough to take care of herself enough to live, Thack began to assist Veranda with horse training. Slowly but surely, the two grew more and more to their horses, but less and less together as a family. Thackier and Veranda grew apart, and the only relationship they had was in their horses.
And then the day came, that Dimmer grew tired of being neglected. She packed up her things, which was quite a dismal number, and headed on hermerryway. Without even saying goodbye to her parents, she left the house in which she had lived in for almost twelve years, and walked. She knew her parents would not miss her.
Dimmer walked for a few miles -- or maybe even less; she was a small girl, after all -- until she collapsed inside of a random stable. She stayed in that stable for approximately five months. She ate hay, and drank the water the owner of the stables set out for the animals. They didn't seem to mind, seeing as how she always left enough for them and she brushed their manes every night.
Then, one day, the owner of the stables found her. He thought she was trying to release his animals into the wild. Dimmer tried to explain, but, due to her echolalia, the man thought she was stuttering; and, to this man, stuttering meant she was guilty. The man chased her out of the stables with a shovel, and almost gashed up her side, as well. Luckily, she escaped into the woods near his stable.
This was where she began to see the faeries.
Dimmer came upon a large tree at the nook of a brook with a hollow opening in the bottom. She decided she would make that hollow tree her home for the rest of her time in the woods. After setting up her blanket and her few other supplies she brought with her, she strolled down to the water to rinse off. She ducked under the water, and when she came back up they were there.
Tens, hundreds of faeries scattered around the waterside were splashing and laughing and talking with each other. When the faeries noticed her, they crowded around her, and began to talk to her, as well.
Dimmer doesn't know how long it has been since she returned to civilization. What she does know, is she would be perfectly content living with the faeries for the rest of her life. They bring her happiness, usually, and she doesn't need any more than that.
