Appearance:

Soren Hawk at one point had wavy black hair. Due to his conditions in life, witnessing his fathers death, and watching his mother kill herself, he shaved his head completely bald. Soren is a very short kid at the height of 5'4. His eyes are a simple brown color with a hint of green to them. Due to living in such a poor district Soren is vastly underweight and looks much too young despite him being fourteen. He tends to help out with the district trade as much as he can, but because of his physique and age, he usually is turned away from helping and its led Soren to becoming even more underfed then he already is.

His appearance flaw unfortunately came on the one occasion he was able to help. He was on hand to help with harvesting when a fellow co-worker slashed him in the side with a scythe. He was so ignorant and eager to help, but he didn't listen to the warnings to be careful and now Artimus walks around with a scar running from his shoulder down to his knee cap. The scar isn't noticeable to most people since he rarely shows it, but to whoever got a glance at it when he was willing to show it they immediately wanted to look away. Even though he keeps the scar somewhat taken care of, Soren's scar hasn't healed all that well. The cut along with his living conditions and depression really hasn't helped the scar heal like it should of.

Personality:

Because of the things that have happened to Soren throughout his life, from when he was 10 and he witnessed his father's electrocution death by the Capitol, Soren has been withdrawn from life in general and he is slowly being swallowed up into the deep darkness of depression. He doesn't talk to anyone except as minimally as possible, doesn't make eye contact with people, and has deep dark thoughts of suicide inside his head.

He has basically become an introvert, only showing glimpses of himself occasionally when he doesn't feel like another person he cares about is going to leave or abandon him, or perish at the hands of the Capitol. Soren has no interest whatsoever in being social with anyone, whether it is family or friends. He shuts people out, including those who try to help him deal with his issues of abandonment and hopelessness and eventually everyone gives up trying.

Lastly, malnutrition has contributed to a sense of desperation in him as he struggles to sustain himself with very little means to do so. He feels so helpless because he is stuck in the orphanage without a means to contribute, but at the same time he is grateful and feels fortunate that the orphanage agreed to take him in when his family died. He basically has given up hope that his situation will ever improve, that he will ever lead a normal life, and that he has a future, any future at all.

History:

Soren's life has been quite a crappy one. At the age of ten he witnessed his father grow to hate the Capitol and their extreme grip on the district. His father attempted to escape the district only to be electrocuted and to make matters worse his body was shot a couple of times to make sure he was dead. Artimus's mood for a long time after that was cold. He didn't want to continue what friendships he had and although his mother and two sisters tried getting him out more he just wouldn't do a thing. His family grew extremely worried that Soren would gain the itch and attempt to leave the district as well, but their fears for now didn't happen and Soren continued to shut himself off from everyone.

Disaster struck yet again for Soren around the age of twelve just when he was beginning to recover from the death of his father so many years ago. One of his sisters died due to food poisoning. Soren again was shutting himself off from the district and this time his mother and only remaining sister attempted to get him out of the house and get fresh air for him. They didn't want to go through another two years of Soren refusing to live his life and exclude his former friends. Constant attempts to get him to leave the house only drove Soren to shut himself off from even his own family and one day he threw things at his own mother and left a gash on her face. Soren at the time didn't register what he had done. After that his family was afraid to help fearing another outburst from him. Over time Soren realized what had happened, but he was lost and thought it was a lost cause in trying to apologize since both his mother and sister were afraid to speak to him after the gash he gave to his mother during his outburst. He did attempt to improve his life at home by silently working around the house doing minor things such as cleaning and taking better care of himself. His family saw the minor change in Soren and the mood toward Soren was changing again. They no longer feared to speak to him and the whole family eventually grew close again. Soren wouldn't admit, but he was glad to have some people to talk with again. Though it was a minor step by talking to his family Soren knew that he needed a much greater change within himself in order to truly get over the terrible events that he has gone through.

Everything eventually was going fine for Soren. He was finally starting to recover from the past events when his recovery was ruined. His sister was killed. He was going to one of his friends house when he was told by a passerby that the rest of his family was found dead. He couldn't handle it anymore and lashed out at the person who told him the news. He was so upset that his last surviving sister was killed, he didn't even listen to the cause of death. His mother was just as shocked at her daughters death that she committed suicide by stabbing herself in the throat. She did it right in front of Soren and after witnessing her death, he begun to revert back to his old self. He didn't want to make friends and definitely started to hate life. Because he had no means to support himself, his only option was to live in the orphanage in town, but he continues to go through life with the hopelessness and longing to join his family in death.

Since living in the orphanage, Soren has thought long and hard about everything that happened to him so far in his life. He loves his family a lot, but now believes that his father deserved to die. He fumes with hatred when thoughts of his mother enter his mind. To this day, he still cares deeply for the sisters that he lost. Soren has no true opinion on the Capitol as, he believes the districts deserve the punishment of the games and sending tributes off to die. His opinion is clouded due to the fact of him losing his family, and moving into the orphanage. Soren seeks an escape from life and the only way he sees an escape is being reaped for the hunger games. Although it would seem like an abomination to some, Artimus looks at being reaped as a tribute like a blessing. It actually worries him deep down that he looks for an escape through the most barbaric means, which is death in the arena.
