Age: Twelve
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 6
Appearance:
Marek has pleasingly colored, disarming hazel eyes and a friendly, pale colored face. His skin is a smooth, fair shade of pallid milky white, with little to no visible signs of flushing vitality beneath it. His hair is an lively, unkempt mess of light brown the color of dry dirt in the sunlight, and two to three inches high which seems to fall down over his forehead and eyebrows but never descends any further than that. One gets the feeling Marek intentionally leaves his hair styled like this, and that it could grown even longer if left unchecked. His teeth are straight and healthy looking, almost always a bright shade of white which seems to reflect the sunlight off Marek's quick smiles. The texture of his face is smooth and youthful, yet decidedly roguish looking at the same time.Personality:
Marek is averagely sized, but above averagely tall, even if it's not by much, and is remarkably fit for the sedentary life of his home district. The reason for this is that Marek loves games, whether it be king of the hill, capture the flag, hide and seek, or even simple tag. Because of this, his body is healthy and fit, if not very muscular, and despite Marek's distaste for organized sports, he stays well in shape. Certainly enough to be seen as an athletic anomaly among his district, and made especially odd by the slim, wire framed, square shaped glasses which one typically associates with a less than athletic stereotype. But as most people find out, his healthy appearance isn't the only abnormal thing about Marek...
Much of the time, Marek feels bored. He loves games, but over time has come to dominate just about every physical or mental challenge that interested him. Talking to his parents yields about as much as soil in a barren field, and his piers are just as much annoyed by him as they do admire him. Because while Marek is an incredibly sociable individual, making friends quite easily, his constant needs to dominate all the fields which even vaguely interest him has won him quite a few resentful enemies. But Marek has never cared about what they thought, only what is next on his list of daily endeavors.History:
Marek is what you call a prodigy of sorts. There is almost nothing he cannot master if it beggars his interest, but the real problem is there just being something that interesting for him to want to pursue it. He's perpetually bored and that makes him resentful, of his life in general or the state of the world in general. It's all just so dull! Why doesn't the world have just a bit more excitement in it? Because working in a lab for the rest of his life, tediously adhering to the established protocols of proper scientific procedure make him chafe, and does not sound an all too appealing thing to be doing for the rest of his natural life.
So where does that leave our discontent young fellow? Uncomfortable, most of the time, and desperately wishing for a way out. ANYWAY out. He despises his life, he has nothing but distaste for his parents, and is tired of the offhanded glances of his jealous or envious or disdainful classmates. Life is so unbearably BORING, and that is the one think Marek can stand least of all. There being absolutely nothing left for him to do.
What can be said about Marek? There's not much he won't tell about himself to just about anyone. Not his morphling parents, not his rundown, perpetually dark, dirty home, and certainly not his infinite boredom with his life. No, Marek stopped caring about most of that a long time ago, as it is simply not, in his eyes, worth his time. He's got better things to do, and probably he's doing them better than you are.Codeword: Odair
Does Marek have friends? Well, a great many people like him, and a great many more don't. But Marek does like to think most of the people he hangs out around DO know his name. Marek's a nice guy, and he's reasonably popular, but most people, if not all, just find it hard to bond with the kid. He's twelve years old, and smarter than quite a few of the teachers who teach him at the school he attends, not to say anything of his peers. And just from looking at him, his friendly demeanor, his quick smile, his joking persona, he's easy enough to get along with, but more often than not, Marek finds himself sitting alone at lunch, and well... he has just about come to terms with that by now, really.
District Six is not a bad place to live, Marek often thinks. It's just not a very exciting place to live, but then again, neither is Panem really, and Marek is simply more than happy he's not starving to death. Cause where's the fun in that? Life may be dull, but Marek is reasonably sure that death would be even DULLER. So Marek keeps on his merry course, whistling a tune on his way to school, day by day, trying desperately to make his young life interesting. Marek goes through a lot on a daily basis, what with his parents' incoherent babbling and his mastery of the public education system. And to get through all that, Marek only ever has one question on his mind.
"What's next?"
