Appearance:
Dune's appearance offer a dark highlight to his mannerisms. His black, short, curly hair is accented by his mid length sideburns. His long spindly upper arms and shoulders are a contrast to his muscular forearms. Similarly his lithe upper body is different from his relatively muscular lower body. His skinny face comes to a point at the the chin, with slim eyebrows, similar lips, a pointy nose and brown eyes. Standing abnormally tall at somewhere between 5'11" and 6'1" his odd appearance and mannerisms tend to drive people away, however makes an excellent build for running and climbing(Two of dune's preferred methods of training) leaving his ability to run and climb strengthened, but when put up against other muscle-bound careers of his age he appears weak and frail.Personality:
His face is constantly locked in a bored expression, however the attentive eye can spot a hint of sadness. His thin facial features offer this expression an almost hollowness to his face, which is a bronze tan, along with his upper body and lower legs. A decent amount of hair grows on his arms and legs. Additionally an almost hear shaped birthmark just to the left of his breastbone.
Dune's wistful expression and terse speaking have alienated most people, however he doesn't mind this. Being a career tribute his sole focus is the games. Solitude is not only accepted by dune, but actively sought out. When he isn't talking(Which is most of the time), he's thinking. The quarries are a particular favorite place to think. There's always a nook that can't be reached under normal circumstances.History:
Unfortunately due to his alienation he lacks almost any semblance of social skills, and thus, anyone to call a friend. Additionally his meditations have led him to a macabre philosophy about death and afterlife. One is only dead when they have a purpose, when this is gone they are dead, weather or not their heart still beats, or if a they've died and gone to some higher power like the woman at the orphanage said when he was very young. With nobody willing to talk to him to contest this philosophy that has become his mantra, "what is death? Purposelessness."
Now what is his purpose? He is a career tribute. His goal is to go to the games, and let this 'higher power' decide if he's dead. Beyond that...well...that depends on what happens there. Besides, who does he have to live for?
Being born to a father who died shortly after conception in a quarrying accident, and a mother who died in childbirth, Dune was raised by the matron of an orphanage, and chosen to become a tribute. After all, who better to go to the games than someone who has nobody to live for? She isolated him and filled his head with the glories of the games, training him to be fast, precise, and strong. However not all of the training stuck.Codeword: odair
Certainly he could run, he could cover short distances at speed, and no obstacle could impede him. However his folly was the strength training. Due to his macabre obsession over the games he was hellbent on honing his pre-existing skills of running and climbing. Thusly he forewent traditional training and bent out on his own regiment of endless running and climbing at the age of ten. Seeing the futility of her encouragement the matron let Dune turn to his own practices while she focused on other matters.
So at the age of 10 he began to run the town, the roads, and the perimeter of the quarries. In the afternoon he would head down into the quarries to climb in the areas that weren't active job sites. His few 'friends are more of acquaintances in the form of other careers who don't particularly mind him, but he's never been particularly social. The more he thinks about the games the more he realized that he will need allies, so he's attempting to socialize so that he won't be ostracized, but as always, that is merely a means to an end.

I realize that this may not be the best concept but it's something that I've had milling around in my head for a while. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Snide remarks? Constructive criticism? Non-constructive criticism?
