As far as Charlie's knowledge went it seemed that everything in District Six was completely extreme. As if because it was the district of scientist it meant everyone was completely crazy in there own way. All families were dysfunctional, and it seemed that each individual had something wrong with them. Maybe it was like this in other districts as well, but it was hard to believe farmers or fishermen could have such problems. It's funny to think that the district with the best doctors have the sickest people in them. Like the Smith's father, smart enough to successfully fulfill his desires, psycho enough to make his children an experiment, but too stupid to not get caught. Was there no one even close to being normal, or sane for that matter? Even everyone in her family contained a different issue, something that made them difficult. Including Charlie herself.
These pills and doctors only seemed to be making everyone that goes to them worse. Every so often Charlie's younger sister Summer had to take a trip to the hospital to visit a doctor, they attempt to get words out of her, talk about her feelings and how she's been. Just like Charlie though she was difficult all the way...that usually led to simply getting another type of medicine, which Charlie did not agree with. Maybe it was helping her, it didn't seem like it though. Even with Summer being thirteen, occasionally her older sister would join her on the walk and wait around till she was done. It wasn't like Charlie had much to do during the day, performing and hunting occured during the night time, and school was no longer a priority.
"Remember not to give them any information." Charlie joked giving her younger sister a hug. "And deny any more pills, your brains messed up enough." They both laughed without taking any of the words seriously. After all Summer understood she was different, and Charlie was just completely on a different world all together. She playfully pushed the younger girl into the doctor's office that was more of a sitting room then examination one.
Now all there was to do was wait, and there was no better entertainment then peeking into others room. Alright Charlie wasn't that cruel to find it entertaining, but it was more just her curiosity that got the better of her. She pretended to look for Summer, as if unsure which room she was brought into. Occasionally she'd get caught, and give a gesture of apology that also got across she was looking for someone. Clearly she wasn't, Summer was always in the same room. One room caught her attention the most though, as if she could understand.
A little boy appeared happy, with a huge grin because of the visitor beside him. He wasn't in the best circumstance, with half a missing leg that could have a million explanations. Still his eyes had a glisten of joy, and innocence radiated from his face. But it was the older girl, possibly his sister, that really caught her attention. Charlie had noticed her before, at school usually next to someone if not several friends. She always seemed happy, like the younger boy beside her. Currently though her smile was more sincere, like the difference between smiling over something funny or crying over something good. Quickly Charlie broke her gaze and started on her walk again, it felt odd to see that girl besides being a ray of sunshine she gave outside of the hospital.
That was enough of spying on people for Charlie, and she headed for the hospital enterance. A cigarette slipped from her pocket and she was about to ditch before remembering she had to wait for Summer. The hospital was consumed with energy, too much for Charlie to handle. She found some steps to wait on and simply people watched the ones entering and exiting the hospital. Some visitors, like an entire family, others needing major help, and even one that was trying to leave too soon. Smoke filled Charlie's lungs occasionally, taking away the thoughts in her mind as she concentrated on the burn in her lungs, as people went and left.
Suddenly the girl from earlier, the one with the little boy, was leaving the hospital, alone. A smile was forced to her face, but clearly unstable. That was a common thing Charlie understood, the need to stay strong when unsure what to do. Then again she wasn't really one to judge on account she simply hid all her emotions within cigs, drinks, and of course drugs. At least this girl seemed to have it more together, or was at least making sure she appeared that way. If it was the opposite direction she was headed in, Charlie would of kept her mouth shut, but the girl walked straight by her.
"You know faking emotions is really unhealthy." Charlie advised though sarcasm slightly hinted her tone. "Gets you in there." She added, pointing towards the hospital with her cigarette, she wasn't expecting the girl to stop or comment. But maybe she'd actually listen.
((OOC: I wasn't sure how to start, but I hope this is good. Let me know if there's anything you think I should change.))
