Piccolo
Anything but Grey
I tried to look confident as I walked down the street. I had to constantly correct my posture and fix my hair when it got in my face. I began to regret keeping my hair down. I felt a bit strange. I seemed to stand out in the croud today. Mostly for the fact I'm wearing a pink dress. It doesn't quite fit with the dull Gray shades that surrounded me. Not just the people's clothing either. Everything seemed more drab than usual,if that was even possible. The only thing that seemed to blend in was my last name.
"Picky!" I heard my dad call to me from the balcony of the apartment. I have started to stop minding when he calls me that. I've come to realize I can be picky at times. "I've looked everywhere for you!"
"Liar!" I shouted up to him, giggling slightly. My relationship with him has gotten better in resent weeks. Not good enough that I would want to be inside that apartment for more time than it takes to eat and sleep, but at least he's bearable. I think it's because his pure stupidity is funny. Maybe it just makes me feel better about myself. "How could you have looked everywhere if you haven't even left the apartment!"
Before he went back inside I looked at what he was wearing. Even he was wearing a grey jacket over his "lucky" blue shirt. I hated that shirt. It was old and torn. It made him look poorer than he is. I assume that's why he had the jacket over top of it. He has this crazy notion that it has good luck. He always tells me about how every accomplishment he ever made in his life, he was in that shirt. He's wearing it today, which means he must have a meeting or something.
I continued to walk down the street, still correcting my posture and fixing my hair. The only difference now is that I now had a sliver of a grin on my face. I wasn't exactly happy, but laughing had reminded to smile. It reminded me I look nice when I smile. I had no clue where I was going. I tried to remember back to see if I ever did. My mind drawing a blank, I just kept walking in a perfectly strait line.
