My own words shocked me as they escaped my mouth flying into the air. I look up at Jim as the shock registers in his face. I'm only trying to be helpful, but I'm not doing a very good job at it. Part of me expects him to run away from me because I feel like I've ruined everything, but I'm shocked when he stays. It shows were brothers. We are brothers for life. I allow the smile to consume my face spreading from ear to ear. I'm happy to have a bro for the games. I'm happy to know that someone is willing to fight side by side. I'm amazed he would care enough to even talk to me. "Storm, I doubt your family would welcome me when I made it home and you didn't. That's assuming I survive the games."

My eyes gaze at the floor as the smile leaves my face. It's obvious he doesn't want to win. It's obvious it's going to take me a lot of time to convince him to fight. There has to be something that'll give him a reason to fight. I have to find something. My hands relax at my sides as I look at Jim. I hate the fact that's he's already given up. I hate the fact that he already thinks he's dead. I am dead. I know I'm going to die, but I can't give up all hope. I have to fight to return home. I have to fight for my family. I take a slow, deep breath as I look at Jim. My eyes focused on his. "Jim, I know only one of us will survive the games. Hell, it might not even be us that survive. I'm as good as dead. I'll be lucky to live longer than Jabber, but I'm not giving up hope. I'm not giving up. Find that reason to fight. I don't care what it is. Just find it. I don't care if it's to help someone return home. Just find that reason. I need you. I need you to have that fight inside you because without you, I can kiss my fight goodbye." I can feel the tears rolling down my face as I lower my head to my knees.
