My eyes dance with pride at I take in the extravagant wall that stands tall in front of me. Little object, items are scattered here and there, but each of the stands on their own, telling a story about me, a story about their owner. My thin fingers tentatively reach up, closing around the cool exterior of one of the item. I smile as I bring it to eye level, my fingertips dancing as the material beneath my fingers slowly warmed to my temperature. It was only a small object, one that fitted easily into the palm of my hand. I pull my fingers away from the object, so it just sat without a sound on my hand, I smile once again. I remembered that night all so clearly. He had been a very good looking guy, and one that had made my might very worthwhile. When I woke up beside him that morning I was curled into the side of his body. My fingers hand gently played with his. That when I had saw it. He wore a ring, it was a beautiful one, and one that looked like it costs a fortune. But that’s not why a frown had slipped onto my face. It was the hand that it was on and specifically, the finger that it hugged tightly.
I had never spent the night with a married man before- maybe that’s why the night had seemed so good? After all one, does seek out and lust things that seem to forbidden. With a shrug, I had slipped the ring off his finger, before slipping silently from the warmth of the sheets. Usually at that point I would grab the man’s wallet ridding it from its money before making my way out. But there was something off about just leaving. It felt wrong- after all this man had cheated on his wife, someone who- even though there was no spoken agreement- deserved to know what this man had done. Females had to stick out for one another. Quickly finding my handbag, my fingers had searched for the pen that lay hidden among the jungle within. It takes me a moment, but when I do find it, I wasted no time in climbing into the bed beside him once again.
I gently placed my hand on the side of his face, the tip of my pen gliding over the smoothing skin of the man’s forehead. I smiled as I watch the ink form words, words that I knew would end the relationship between these two people. That woman deserved more, much more than this man had to offer. pulling my pen away, I took in my piece of art, the words sliding through my mind as my eyes read them. “Ask me where I was last night- I dare you.” Satisfied I’d throw the pen over my shoulder, my eyes studying the married face below me. I had then place a gently kiss on his check, my lips lingering for a moment before I had climbed from the bed, throwing my clothes on before leaving with the ring in my pocket.
Now here I stood, the ring laying open on the palm of my hand. I wonder whether his wife had left him that day- I hope so. I hope I had managed to save one thing from that situation. Closing my eyes for a moment I slip the item back on its spot, before turning away, my fingers grabbing at the jacket that laid over the edge of my chair. Shrugging it one, I take off into the night. The dress I wore barely covered me, showing off a lot of skin, but it didn’t bother me- I was used to it, it was how I dressed almost every night. Tonight I was up for an adventure, and I was excited at the thought of the man who would be lucky enough to win me ton this fine night.
Pulling my dress a little lower I pause, listening as the heavy wooden door of my house closed behind me. I knew Max was asleep somewhere in the house- either curled up on the couch, a booking open on her lap, or in her room, her dreams running with the adventures of her walking hours. A smile slips onto my lips as I think of my sister curled up on her armchair, her book in her lap- it was a sight that I came home to very often, and each time it made me smile. I never really understood how she did it- I knew that I couldn’t have, it would have caused me so much pain to wake up, neck stiff, arms and legs cramped… But to her it was natural, she never complained about the pain- if there was even any.
With that thought on my mind I take of down the stone path of my house, the heels of my shoes clapping loudly with each step. Tonight was going to be fun, I could feel it in my bones, smell it in the air.
