[/blockquote][/justify]Hey guys! So as many of you already know by the links I periodically chuck at the c-box, I love songwriting. So I thought I'd officially share some of my written songs right here. I don't want to spam you too much, haha, so I've just got four of my more recent ones posted down below. If you have a few minutes, feel free to look at the lyrics and take a listen, and if you ever have any constructive feedback, I would love to hear it! You can find the rest of my songs right here. Some other originals you may want to check out are Salt Water Goldfish, TBD, Feathers, Black Sky, or whatever else you stumble upon <3
I recorded this one yesterday. :3
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
You're always walking right into sleep
Hoping the incline won't be as steep
But dreamers are always first to break
So come here, fall awake
Verse 2:
You never gave reality a chance
But did you know he taught me how to dance?
Even though he bakes his cakes with dirt
Don't be afraid to hurt,
Don't be afraid to hurt.
Chorus:
'Cause fairytales will catch the raindrops in your eyes
When the storms come in, I hope you aren't surprised.
If the puddles get into your shoes, get your socks all wet
Will you put away your fishing net?
Or will you go inside, pretend we never met?
Verse 3:
You can fish for fantasies while I
Try to get these knotted nets untied.
But if you fall into the lake,
Just pull your mind awake
Don't try to fake it
Don't let them take you
Just pull your mind a--
Chorus x 1
Verse 1 x 1
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
The flowers will either wilt when they're ready
Or when your hand on the can becomes unsteady
So pour a little water on the wishes I left
Before I put the feelings to rest
Verse 2:
You keep searching for answers in the sun,
But blindness was the only prize you won.
Sometimes I wish you'd stop looking at the sky,
Don't you hear my troubled sighs?
Chorus:
'Cuz I don't want to be a dollar bill you lost
In the pair of pants you threw in the wash
Your vintage camera captures moments passed,
But I know it'll never make time last.
You always warned me that people change,
But the memories will always stay the same.
If the autumn leaves learn to fall,
When winter comes, will you learn to forget it all?
Verse 3:
I woke with bruises on my arms
Who knew that dreams did so much harm?
Thanks to the speed of light, the stars are all dead.
I'll be sleeping face down in my bed.
Chorus x 1
Bridge:
I wished on too many stars,
But they only left more scars.
You're running into walls,
But you never hear me call.
Chorus x 1
Chorus (last):
I didn't want to be that dollar bill you lost
In the pair of pants you threw in the wash
Your vintage camera captured moments passed,
But I knew it would never make time last.
You always told me that people change
But the memories would always stay the same
The autumn leaves learned to fall
So when winter came, we forgot it all.
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
There's a girl who hides behind the keys
Painting silent melodies
Keys she holds onto
Like buoys in the sea
But the locked doors stay untouched
By the comfort she continues to clutch
She plays with spider hands
But her feet are planted in the sand
Chorus:
'Cuz even though this tank's too big
And her words of chalk, with the rain they fade
These spiderwebs around her heart
Will keep her safe from the harm.
Verse 2:
When she turned eighteen, she changed her name
Sick of being called Daddy Long Legs
Eight shoes, eight worries she bore
Eight more pounds pulling her to the floor
She tried and she tried to open the piano lid
But her trembling hands never did
She was tired of keeping all the love away
Violin strings, webs, a barricade
Chorus x 2
Bridge:
She keeps a bug box by her window
A web of broken hearts
Too afraid to set them free
And too afraid to start
Verse 3:
Once upon a time
She met a butterfly
The colors upon his wings
Left her looking towards the sky
She pushed away the webs
Pulled the piano lid up
'Cuz even a spider
Can learn how to love
Chorus (last time):
'Cuz even though this tank's too big
And her words of chalk, with the rain they fade
These spiderwebs around her heart
Will fall apart.
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
There's a language out there
No need to be scared
Of the silence
But there are some people
Who are afraid of the words
Although there's hearing aids
And people playing charades
They don't listen
Because what
if it hurts?
Chorus:
They hear...
Verse 2:
Then there's others who will
Never know silence 'til
He's their only company
Walking around
Dragging sentences across the ground
They pick words off of trees
Without saying please
Or thank you very much
Even though all the signs say
Please don't touch, please don't touch
Chorus (2):
They say...
Bridge:
And there's those who sit
And think a little bit
And try to mimic the way the world works
A little time on their hands
A paper and pen
And they're writing away the Earth
Chorus (3):
They sing...
Verse 4:
And there's people who hear the words loud and clear...
Chorus (4):
They hear a chorus like this with lyrics that fit
More than just jibberish like...
But soon they'll forget
The right words, you bet
And they'll start singing something easier like...
