I don't care about secound impressions. I honestly don't know why the hell i'm going to meet with him again. He made a terrible impression the first time. he showed himself to be weak and vulnerable. I don't care if he had mums blood in him. There is no way one of my siblings are weak. Even that sister of mine in district one isn't weak, just lazy. He has no exception.

Was it even worth, that I got up today morning? Probably not. He was most likely going to tell me again that revenge isn't the best solution. Though in my eyes, there is no better solution. Here blood will be my my only price, for what she has put us through. There is no turning back now. I will only play by her own rules.

I quietly sneak out of bed, trying not to wake grandma up. If she knew I was going to the woods, she would have my head faster than any peacekeeper. Then again, my Daddy is a peacekeeper. He won't let any harm come to his little angel, right?

Steps and whispers hush through the hall. Is she awake? No, I don't think so or she would have came out and yelled at me for getting out of bed so early. I was out of the house now. I didn't have anything with me. I didn't need anything. For crying out loud I come from District 12, the poorest of 'em all!

Walking through the empty district felt odd. No one was casting their normal weird stares at me. No one was whispering and pointing at me talking about my miserable history. In some ways it felt great, in others it felt lonely.

The fence was also silent today. No humming sound came from it. I searched the ground with my brown eyes for a stone. I picked up a small, round, reddish stone and rubbed my fingers on it. This stone looked precious, and where we come from we learn not to waste. I stuff the stone in my pocket and pick up a lumpy, grey one. This one had no worth, so I threw it at the fence and the stone did not burn.

After my little stone test I take one more look behind me to make sure no one was coming. Though who would come this early. I slipped my self through the fence and headed of towards my long walk to my weak Halfbrother

Strength comes from within. Do not seek it without.

My muscles groan in protest as I roll somewhat clumsily from my thin bed sheets, the air around me musty with humidity and yesterday’s sweat. The floorboards creak, attempting to alert my father of my escape, but he’s a heavy sleeper. He’ll probably just think I went to the fields early. Won’t it be a nasty little surprise when our month’s ration comes out a day slim of what it usually is? It’s really quite simple in my part of the district: If you don’t work, you don’t eat. Plus, the rations are small as is, so a day missed is a sacrifice on my part which will not go unpunished by my father, but the task I have at hand is much more important to me than tomorrow’s dinner.

Although the sun is just beginning to rise, a sticky heat creeps in through our screen door at the front of our house as I stand in front of it, doubts creeping back into my mind.What if this is a mistake? I don’t even know what she wants from me! The last time I saw her, everything was a blur, and just trying to recall everything makes my head spin. I take a deep breath and put my hand on the door handle to steady myself, tying to put the pieces of the conversation that I had with Nike together.Sister… eight of us…prostitute mother…Revenge.

Revenge. That last thought sends chills up my spine. Just to think, my entire life before I met Nike, I wanted nothing more than to see my mother, than to meet her, embrace her, have her rub my back and whisper soothing words in my ear, like the other kids’ mothers did to them. He told me she was dead. But she isn’t.But she will be unless you stop Nike I think to myself, giving me enough courage to open the creaky screen door and bolt out, slamming the door behind me with a crash. I don’t look back. I can’t look back. If I look back, I will go back. I will look ahead. I will not stop.

I don’t really know what I will do when I get there, when I get to Nike. But I have to. I can’t just let my mother be murdered by one of her own children. For years I was convinced that I was the cause of her death, that my birth resulted in her demise. My fault. And it will be my fault again if I let Nike do whatever she plans on doing. But this time, the guilt will be real. Deeper, more painful, knowing that I could have done something, anything to stop her, but I didn’t because I was scared.I can’t be scared now. I have to do this.I can’t look back. I will look ahead. I will not stop. I cannot stop.

Walking in silence with only my thoughts to keep me company. It must be lonely out there when you don't have anyone to fall back on. Even I have someone to fall back on. My grandma is my support for all cases. If it's just something stupid I need to get out. Or if it is something serious. It doesn't matter, she is always there for me.

My shoes make crunching noises, as I step on the fallen and dried up leaves. Crunch Crunch Crunch. That noise will never stop as long as I am here. How long will I be here anyway? Not sure, does it even matter? maybe I'll meet mum on the way, then things will get real pretty.

I've dreamt of this moment for so long. Longing for it to be true, and yet to this very day, it remains a dream. This dream is what keeps me pumping, in a way it is her blood that keeps me going. Runyon doesn't see it that way. He thinks it would be all better if we dropped our weapons and hate and hugged each other.

He obviously does not know anything about me if he thinks I'll be following that plan. All I see in front of me is woods and more woods. What is to expect when you're in one. These trees is our only connection to the other districts, to my siblings. I have to keep walking.

Minutes and maybe an hour passes, I have to keep walking, I have to convince him of my cause. He has to understand my wanting. He has to understand why the rest of us wants her dead.

It feels as if I am in a war with my own brother. I am one side. Runyon is the other. I want her blood. he wants peace. This is one war I'm not going to loose, I won't surrender. I will keep walking till I see him.

The cool of the shade in the forest is a blissful contrast to the sweltering heat of the sun I have become accustomed to. My skin is wet with the dew from the damp leaves surrounding me in the dense foliage I have to push through to get to her. The occasional glimpse of sun through the trees assures me that I am headed in the right direction. I’ve never been this deep in the woods before, and I can’t help but feel nervous about going back.If I go back, I think. For all I know, Nike could be a serial killer that lures in her victims by making up stories about their past. I wouldn’t put it past her, with her lust for blood, and all.

But that isn’t what I’m most worried about. She was pretty convincing, anyways. I know that Nike doesn’t like me in the least, I could read it in her face the last time I saw her, which is why I have no idea why she still wants me to join her. Maybe I’m her last hope at getting what she wants. But what she wants isn’t what I want. It’s the exact opposite. I still haven’t figured out what I’m going to say when I see her again.If she even shows up. The miles I’ve walked so far have gifted my thoughts with worries and concerns, making me become all the more anxious every step I take. I few times I even consider going back, just leaving this entire irrational idea behind. I don’t even know what I’m doing, or what’s tempting me to continue on. All that this leads to is destruction.Or salvation. I know that even if I don’t go with her, she will still try to find our mother; her fury is buried deep enough to fuel her to search all of Panem, high and low. I just don’t understand why Nike can’ simply forgive her, take a walk in her shoes, imagine what it must have been like to have to leave her children behind for her own survival. Harder than life itself. In fact, I respect her for it, for leaving us with people she knows will take care of us. She might have planned to come and get us when she was financially stable, or something. We just don’t know. But I am optimistic. And Nike is furious.And right now, I’m the only thing that comes between the two of them.

The sun dapples the ground in front of me as the trees are slowly beginning to fade into a clear area right between our two districts. I find an old tree stump, overgrown with fungi of all sorts, and smooth out my overalls as I sit down. Hunching my back to the sun, I look at my shadow and wait.

Walking, waiting, alone, birds, time, fallen leaves, tree's, family waiting, weak family waiting. This list keeps getting bigger as I keep walking on and on into the woods. I ask myself all the time, if anyone was going to believe me? Did Runyon believe me? He better believe me, or I'll have to show him the letter. I didn't show him the letter yet, though I have it stuffed in my pocket waiting to see the light of day.

I keep walking on and on into the deep and wonderful forest. A place where i can be free without any burdens to carry, except for one. This one burden, that I will never be free of. All of my siblings will carry it for as long as we live. I am sick and tired of it and want to get rid of it, the only way to do that is get rid of her, he just has to understand that.

I see him sitting on a tree stump. he doesn't see me yet, and a great idea comes to my mind. I quickly find a good climbing tree. One with alot of slots to enter my hand and feet and quickly scurry up the tree, so he can't see me. One hand here, one foot there. It goes like this for about a minute, till i'm at the top.

I stand on a branch and look down to him, a wild grin appears on my face. The fall isn't very long. I might break a foot, but it would be all worth it. I step of the branch and land on the ground. The impact hurts, but i manage to stand and show no pain. "Boo" I tell him. I hope I scared him, or I would have broken my foot for nothing.

My thoughts are furiously shuffling through my head, flickering from one to the next much like the sun is peeking and retreating through the clouds. I want to go back. I don’t think I can do this. But I have to. I have to stand with her against our mother, my mother, the one whom I’ve always pictured holding me tight and singing me lullabies. The one I’ve wanted to know for my whole life, and now that I have the chance, I’m supposed to hurt her? Kill her, even? It doesn’t make any sense to me, why Nike insists upon her dissipation from this world. She seems to blame her for everything bad that happens in her world, when instead of holding a grudge against a woman that she’s never met, she could be actually attempting to fix her broken life. But some things are stronger broken. I don’t want to admit it, but I know I have to stay on her good side, I have to play along for now, now that I know what she is capable of. But is she? I’m not really sure that she could do it. She seems tough and intimidating now, but when we really get to wherever she’s trying to take me, will she see what I see? A monster is what I see. A monster that bears the name of Nike Skillet, fueled with fiery blood, the same blood that runs through me. The same blood that she wants to shed. And I am the only one who can stop it. But can I stop it?

“Boo” I jump when I hear her sharp whisper cut through the forest sounds I have become accustomed to from walking in the woods for so long. The leaves around her feet whirl away from her, and I glance upward at the shaking tree limb she jumped off of. She was watching me. How long has she been there? Long enough to read me like a book from the way she looks at me. “Boo yourself.” I retort, trying to cover up my racing heartbeat with a casual tone to my voice. I stand from the tree stump and take a step back, just in case. I don’t trust her one bit, and she knows it. She hates me almost as much as she hates our mother, but unfortunately for her, I’m all she has. And she needs me.

I finally realize that I have the advantage here. She needs me. I don’t need her. I can manipulate her to do whatever I want her to. She can’t afford to lose me. She needs me so badly, that her entire plan would fall apart if I were to step out of the equation. Wouldn’t that be a shame?

“So what now?”I look her in the eyes coolly, hoping she can’t see my mind at work, searching for a way out of this. But do I really want out? The thought strikes my so hard I almost break her gaze. I’m not so sure anymore. I’m not sure of anything anymore.

I just rolled my eyes at Runyon’s comment. I mean honestly who is so dumb and un-humorous to steal one’s punch line? He was trying to be tuff to impress me, there was no doubt there. And to believe I probably just broke my foot for that son of a bitch! I honestly couldn’t believe it. I stood there with my hands planted on my hips and a distasteful snarl on my face. I felt like punching him in the face, seeing if I could slap some sense into him, but I know it is worthless to even try, once a goody-toe-shoe always a goody-toe-shoe.

I stared at him for a good long minuet, still with that snarl planted on my face and an obvious look of distaste, the only thing I was able to say to him was “You disgust me, you know that right?” I wanted him to know it was not okay for him to steel my punch lines and try to be tuff when he is all rainbows and flowers. My voice was cold, harsh, and disapproving, as if he were a week old burrito I found in the garbage which I would’ve eaten, since most of the time I was starving.

The next thing made me want to slap him even more! He asked me what next, as if he didn’t have a brain and couldn’t figure it out for himself. Was he one of those dinosaur people that latterly have a brain the size of a walnut? I really wish that he wasn’t my brother, but I couldn’t do anything. It was the fault of my stupid mother, our stupid mother, and mommy’s boy over there wanted to hug her?!

“You know exactly what, Runyon! Think! You have a brain, or at least that was told, god you know what I’m going to say, I need your help, we need your help” my words were sort of a half beg, half cursing session. which I could have done much better. I looked at him for another moment with no expression, but softer I wasn't going to get, he had to learn my way.
