The early morning sun rises high into the sky changing the colors of the clouds. I'm not one to watch the clouds, but part of me wonders if my parents are flying in the clouds. They just left us, me and Hylla. I don't know what happened to them, and it pisses me off that they left us all alone. Sometimes I wish I could run into them just so I can bash their heads in, but Hylla needs me. We live with our Aunt and Uncle. The Coles. I'm a Mason, and I will always be a Mason. I set on the porch of the house while its still cool out. Normally, I would be at the training center, but today I want to see if Hylla wants to hang. Hylla, my younger sister, is a lot like me. We both have a thing for getting in trouble, and I accept her for it. I accept my sister because she accepts me. I'm treated like dirt by everyone else, but Hylla doesn't care.

I look around happily at the abandoned streets. It's the perfect morning for trouble. I jus need Hylla, and my day will be set. Will she want to be with me? Will she want to get in trouble? I know the answer all I have to do is ask. I like getting in trouble because it gets me noticed. Just a few days ago I set a tree on fire with toilet paper surrounding it. I loved watching the flames dance to life, and I would love to do it again with Hylla because she wouldn't question me, and I don't think she would back out. I take a deep breath, and crack my neck as an evil smile appears on my face. Its time to get this day started.

It's cold out. I love the cold. The wind is biting my back and snapping in my ears. You don't sweat in the cold. The sun has turned the clouds pink and gold. Shiny, flashy colors. Too prefect. Just like the rest of District One, too perfect for anyone's good. I close my eyes and remember it's cold out and I ought to be thankful. When I open them I see my brother, Isaiah. He's smiling, crookedly, like he's expecting me. I put my hands in my pockets and breathe the dirty, fake District One air. It's the Mason family smile. I walk over and mirror that stupid crooked smile. Maybe our parents are smiling down on us with the same crooked smile. What a ridiculously sappy thought. They had no right to leave us. Mamma, dancing in the pink clouds while I suffer. Sounds just like her. Their are two kinds of grief. There's sad grief and there's angry grief. Mason took one and I stole the other. I need him. I need him and his stupid patronizing smile. I don't think he know can be just as much trouble as he is. Not that he'd admit it if he did.

He's amongst the crooked streets and twisted alleyways. District One is so beautiful at first glance. Towering silver building, pink skies and perfect people. Until you see the dirt in the back alleyways where they deal morphling. Until you meet the poor people. The out-of-place people who don't have makeup smeared across their starving faces. The ones who don't color everything they were born with and train to kill everyday. People like us. I'm sick of being treated like someone lesser simply because I don't have more. Isaiah understands, he knows, he is. He knows sometimes you have to fight for what you want when it isn't handed to you on a silver platter like for everyone else. He fights for me, and that's all that matters.

The sun is shining, but it's still cool. I can tell it'll be a warm day though once the sun rises high into the sky. I'm unsure of what to do. I just stand there. Usually, I'm in the mood to chat, but this morning, I just want to wreck havoc upon the citizens of District One. I want people to know my name. I want people to hate me worse than they already do. I want to hear them call me a filthy scum bag. It only makes sense because that's what I'm already called. It'll be nothing new for someone to tell me what a horrible person I am. Does it matter what they think of me? No, it doesn't because nobody can change me for being who I am. I refuse to change because I shouldn't have to change for anyone. Is it really that hard to accept me? I know I get in trouble, but that shouldn't matter.

"So what's the plan? There's always a plan." I haven't really thought of a plan. I just wanted to go out and wreck havoc. I want to make people's lives a living hell. I want to give them a reason to say I'm dirt. It only brings joy to my life knowing people think I'm dirt. I never plan in advance unless it's a special occasion, or I'm planning revenge on someone like the person that said I was good. I'm not good. I'm not a good person. I'm a horrible person nobody should be around. "I never really thought of a plan." I whisper to Hylla. I don't know why I whisper because nobody is around, yet I still do. "I just thought we'd wing it as we made the citizens of District One's life a living hell." I remove the cigarette pack from my pocket. I remove a single cigarette and light it. I hold out the pack towards Hylla offering her one unsure if she'll take it or not.
