From the moment that I smacked Jins across the face with enough force to make him look to the side, I take off to reach the middle of the gym. My only aim is to go for some sort of weapon. Some sort of defense blade that could help me against the man that follows close behind me. My heartrate quickens as I keep my eyes on the prize. Just a few more feet. Just a few more feet. I try telling myself about this urgency. My need to protect myself, but the fear is ever present. My hand outstretches but I don't get there I time. I can't even reach the table with the blades before I find myself crouching on the floor suddenly. I sit haunched over my knees and grabbing my shoulder from the forceful grip he pressed on my wounded shoulder. I feel hot tears want to form, but I can't allow him that satisfaction. I screech out, my voice echoing through the quiet center. I wait, with my eyes squinted. That's when I suddenly notice that he hasn't done nothing else to me. No kick. No punch. No pull on the back of my neck. Instead, there's this crash and I eagerly look up to see who it is that had caused this sudden sound that makes me jump and fidget where I sit. Some guy had the nerve to actually come to my aid and take measures into his own hands. Jins falls rather hardly into the table, the weapons flying everywhere on the floor but steadily gets up with a discarded blade and comes at me with force. His closes the distance in between us so close and I feel his unwanted breath on my skin. I shudder and hold my stance. Listen to his threat then feel as he leaves the center, leaving me with Mason and excuses. Though, the words still seem to ring ever loud in my ears. "Next time, make sure your alone, sweetheart... your mine." ................. Jins holds the blade in his hand with anger. His face screwed up as he looks to his torn shirt sleeve, spouting off a few choice words and slams the door opens and walks outside of the door. Instantly, he takes to punching the wall with his fist. His attitude that of some angry gorilla on a rampage. He stops momentarily as he steps back to the doors to the gym. The two small windows revealing just enough that he watches with irritation as she willing takes the guys hand and stands. His head shaking all the while. "Kyanite... you got lucky this time. Your friend just costed you. Next time I get you alone, you better pray for merci... Bitch..." His voice comes out with so much venom. His thoughts only on one thing and that could only mean an unwelcomed run in if he ever catches her without someone around. A wicked grin comes across his face as he suddenly folds his arms up into himself. He can't get himself to move away from the scene unfolding in the gym.

It's been a few days since Kyanite and I had our 'run in' in the woods. I'm more confused than ever because one part of me really liked what happened, the other hated me and her for it. I'm not that kind of guy who goes hiding in some cabin int he woods with a chick, that I barely know. I despise women too much to do that kind of thing.

Today is my second day back at the gym, I'm about to enter it when I hear a commotion inside. Since I'm really trying to stay out of trouble I have a good look inside throught he glass panels of the door just to witness the end of Kyanites fight with a guy.
Is he the one that she fears so much?
For a second I contemplate dashing in to help her, just because that's what a good guy would do, but I don't. A career should be able to handle herself, which she proofed when she put two knifes in me.

Pushing the door slightly open I listen to his final words. "Next time, make sure your alone, sweetheart... your mine."
The guy is heading for the door so I step aside. Maybe she got what she deserved for toying with guys like she does.

I lean against the left outside wall of the gym and watch the tall, muscle hamster step outside and turn to the right just to take his frustration out on the wall. Why he didn't take it out on her, I'm not sure. Maybe he got interrupted by someone.
"Kyanite... you got lucky this time. Your friend just costed you. Next time I get you alone, you better pray for merci... Bitch..." I hear him say.
That's when I step out of the shadows and cast another glance inside the gym through the glass panels.
"Bitch..." I smile a humor less smile. "That's the right word for that chick."
I step a little closer and give him the once over.
"She sure knows how to fuck with a guys head." My eyes are cold as I nod back at the gym.
"You got some personal beef with that sl"t?"

Inside I can hear some sounds. Let's hope she doesn't come outside to see the two of us together.

To have the help from someone was welcoming and even though I was trying to keep Mason from leaving me, I felt as though there might be some sort of hope. My words linger thought in defence against what he did, and what I thought he was going to do. "Look, Thank you for what you did... but just stay out of it. It's my issue. Not yours." I stare after him until he stops. My breath hitches. I havn't a clue what's going on behind those doors, and I know better than to try to leave right now. Not with him so close by. ....................... His eyes settle on the girl inside of the gym, while his stance is anything but calm. His chest still heaves with the effort that he was thrown aback into the weapons table while his fingers still clasp onto the blade that he threatened the young woman with. He spewed an audible threat to her, as if she could hear it outside of the door, and sighed heavily. Out of the blue, a voice came out to greet him. He didn't flinch, nor did he jump, but simply listened to the man's voice as he agreed wtih the vulgar language he just used against the girl inside the gym. He studied the guy. His eyes holding a sort of malice in them. That's the right word for that chick. He agreed willingingly with a nod, but not a word came from his lips. Instead, he watched the guy look him over, then listened to him more as he downed the woman in the gym as well. A friend? Another man that thought the same as him? Oddly enough, the thought of someone else thinking that about her began to set him off. "What do you mean? Knows how to F*** with a guys head... You two friends once or something?" He asked and turned his attention to him. His voice coming over as if he was protective of her. Worried about her. "As for personal beef... she's a peice of treasure. One that needs to be taken care of. A peice of gold that needs to be polished, is all." He told the guy. In fact, she was a treasure to him. One that he wanted to keep for himself. One that needed to be hidden from the world. He turned back to look inside of the gym at how she continued to talk to Mason. Suddenly, he turned to the guy, flexingt the blade in his hand. "What about you? How you know her?" His voice turned a little lower.

MATTHEW DUNHAM

There's something about this guy that gives me chills. I'm not easily intimidated but he has a weird vibe, a crazy look in his eyes. My own are mostly just cold, pissed. A dark gaze that settles on him when he speaks up about the girl inside the gym, who's taken it upon herself to first act weak, then throw a few knifes at me and finally make me do something that I thought I never would.

It almost looks as if the brown haired guys anger is switching towards me, when I'm actually trying not to make more enemies.
"What do you mean? Knows how to F*** with a guys head... You two friends once or something?"
"Nah." I shake my head once. "We were never friends. Rivals in the pregames."
I let him know briefly.
From one second to the next he gives me a completely different impression than what I just witnessed in the gym. He sounds protective, like he owns her, maybe even loves her the way she talks about her like she's some special treasure.
My eyes narrow. Gold? Treasure? What the heck is he talking about.
"I have no clue what you mean, man."

I back off one step when he asks.
"What about you? How you know her?"

For a moment I weigh my answer because it's really none of his business what my motives are. I'm ready to give away a little.
So I roll up my sleeve to reveal a thick white bandage covering most of my forearm.
"She's a manipulative bitch. She uses her attraction, acts all seductive and than pins you to a tree with a knife. That put me out of training."

The way she messed with my mind I keep to myself.

"I'd like to hand some of that back to her. If she's a career she should just stick to fighting and cut the sexual crap."

I can see the flicker in his eyes at certain words. They have an effect. I'm sure it won't be long until he's on board.
"I'd like to help teach her that."

It's time to back off before I come off needy. So i step down the two stairs to the gravel in the yard and roll my sleeve back down to shove my hands in my pockets.
"I can do that by myself though, if you're just all barks and no bite."

Then I walk over to the side door of the gym that leads into the storage room where we keep most of the weapons. It's accessible from both sides and only trainers have the keys. I happen to still have them because I used to train the small kids.

I know that for now, I'd rather have the company in here, so I try to make amends for my actions and my short temper against Mason. I smile at him the best I can and make small talk with him. "Sorry about that. I'm just a little jumpy. So, Mason, what brings you to the gym so early?" I question him to try to get him off his path out the doors. My only thoughts is to keep him from running into Jin's as well. I would rather not see what Jins would do since he's already ticked off. Besides, I can here to work out and that's what I planned on doing since I can't really spar right now. I look forward to spending some time with someone who isn't trying to hurt me. Someone who doesn't want to spar. This might be a nice change. .................................... Jins's takes his attention away from what's going on in the gym to Matthew. His eyes peering into him, trying to figure out how Matthew knows the girl. Why he is suddenly standing near the door as well. That's when Matthew merely denies their friendship, claiming that they are simply rivals in the pregames. It earns Matthew a nod from him, with a distrinct grunt of a pass off. His words then start to describe Kyanite as a peice of treasure. A peice of gold that only needs polishing. His meaning behind that of a different texture in the sentence, but he doesn't give Matthew the insight to his analogy. Instead, he grills him once again, wanting to know how he knows Kyanite. As Matthew rolls up his sleeve to show the heavily bandaged arm. He grinned, and gave a small chuckle. She's a manipulative bitch. She uses her attraction, acts all seductive and than pins you to a tree with a knife. That put me out of training. Once again, he grins and brings a hand up to rub his chin. His head tilted downward. "She can have quite a temper." His voice keeping with the low tone. He seems to have realized some of the words he used. 'attraction' and 'seductive'. His eyes flash a certain hint of hatred toward Matthew suddenly, but keeps his stance. Then when he continued he found himself getting pissed off with more words that Matthew spoke. stick to fighting and cut the sexual crap. "You try anything on her?" He suddenly advances on him, his eyes reflecting a dangerous glare, though when he mentions teaching her a lesson, he seems to have changed, just slightly. "I'm more than just bark... and she knows it. What business you have with her though... needs to go through me first." He states as he follows him to the weapons closet. He leans heavily on the side wall, watching as he uses a key on the door. "Hmm. Kya, baby... I think you've just met your match." "Two against one, doesn't seem fair... then again, she never does play fair." His tone keeping its dangerous luster.

It becomes very clear that this guy and Kyanite share a lot of history. The talk about being a precious gem, yet threatening her in the gym and now asking whether I tried anything on her.
'Oh wouldn't you like to know.'
I look the guy blank in the eye and state. "No."
The last thing I need is some twisted jealous loverboy on my back just because I got hot and sweaty with her once.

"What's it to you?" I ask with a shrug although it's pretty evident.
"She can have quite a temper." Is all the answer I get. 'Oh yeah' I frown.

As I unlock the weapons cage I have a good look around at what's in store.
"Knifes, Spears, bows and arrows...and ..."
My hand wraps tightly about a small crossbow with metal bolts. A possibly deadly weapon, which I hardly use. It can be used almost like a gun at medium to close range.

Behind me the guy demands.
"I'm more than just bark... and she knows it. What business you have with her though... needs to go through me first."
Since when do I need to go through anybody for any of my business? I don't ask for permission , I just DO.

I disregard the rest of his words and ask.
"Do you have any idea, who I am?" I turn around to give him a hard look. Apparently this sucker thinks he can walk in here and play big shot.

"Matt Dunham...check me out. You'll find I don't need approval from anyone." I close the distance between us leaving barely half an arm length between us...right in his personal space.

"Since you're the one with the gem I'll let you lead the way though. How about we do this instead of ruffling our own feathers?"
The small lock on the cage gets locked again and I nod at him. "You already got your weapon."
After all he's still walking around with one in his hand, that he took from the gym.

His voice is gentle and from what I can tell, he's going to be a great adversary in the pregames when they come up. We begin to talk about the pregames and what to expect. It seems weird that I am actually thinking about getting to know these people before I even fight them. Won't that make it harder on me though? To know or understand them before I am suppose to throw a blade into them? I shake that thought from my head. Needed Career mindset: Kill. Am I using it right now? No. .................................... Jin's watches as MAtthew takes out this weapon from the closet, and he keeps his face stern. Cold. Still. As if he's contemplating what's about to happen. He replays the list of weapons in his head that Matthew said moments ago that were in there, but he still holds the blade in his hand and twists it around in between his fingers. "I've got mine already, though your's is pretty impressive. I'm not about flashy. I'm about proving a point." He states. Then without notice, MAtthew takes a stand against him, getting into his face. Do you have any idea, who I am? Jins shrugs, not bothered with the intimidation that he just displayed. "I"m pretty sure, I really don't care who you are, but I agree. We both have our reasons right now, so I suggest you cool your hot head so you don't ruin it." Jins purses his lips together in a scowl, and takes the guys advice and leads the way back to the gym. All the while, a wicked grin comes to his face, then turns to Matthew once again. "How you wanna play this? We are going to have to get rid of the fool in there with her now?"

He's right, I need to cool my hot head, instantly before it gets in the way like so many other times. While we circle back towards the doors in the shadows if the walls of the gym I brace myself for what's to come. Can I really go through with this? Is this how I plan to stay out of trouble? Is this my way of being smart?
For a moment my eyes flicker across the yard that lies in the darkness, only illumated by a slightly overcast moon.
Nobody else is here....good.
My heart is picking up it's speed as we near the entrance of the building. It feels exhilarating and a bit scary because it suddenly pumps so hard.
We have to pass behind a flight of stairs before we reach the door again. Inside I can actually hear her voice. This is going to be a tough choice but it has to be done!

Pressing my lips together I keep sneaking with my cross bow in my hand.
Then I stop once we've reached the stairs where nobody can see us and ask over my shoulder. "Ready? Let's teach that little bitch some manors." I tap my fingers against the trigger of the weapon ever so lightly.

I can't be one hundred percent sure of his identity but I've heard enough to make up my mind.
With one swift move I turn around and aim the crossbow at him.
"YOU need someone to seriously teach you some manors, little bitch." If my glare could kill, head be dead already. I despise this possessive asshole with everything I’ve got because of the little bit I know about him. The way he scares her and makes her hide in her little shell, how he thinks he owns her and slaps her around…it makes me want to shoot him in the head.
My expression is stone cold and I don’t give him the chance to defend himself or react.
“You don’t possess any other person.” My finger tightens on the trigger sending the iron bolt on it’s way straight into this guys lower region. Somewhere between his groin and abdomen it tears a big old hole into him. A second later I watch him drop with satisfaction.

I begin asking him questions in order to receive replies and it begins to work. I life my hand up to my shoulder to rub the soreness out but try to keep the ever present facade of a smile on my face. I wait for him to answer me though. I asked about the short ranged or long ranged weapons that he would prefer but, he decides to keep that part about him hidden as he refuses to touch on that subject. Two can play that. Thanks Mason for showing up at the right time. My thoughts thank him where I couldn't verbally earlier without trying to defend Jins. I have no clue what it is about Jins that makes me want to try to hide the way he treats me. There is only one person that I have trusted with that information. .................................... Jins has anything but a pleasant idea in store for Kyanite. His face displays a wicked grin as Matthew and him return to the door, weapons in hands. He listens to what's going on in the inside. Her voice and the other guys voice interacting. Whispering. His blood begins to boil even further thinking that Mason will try to touch her in spars. Touch her with a weapon. Just him talking to her in general was the whole problem. What he didn't mind, was that Matthew was on board to teach her about messing with a guy's head. He said it himself. "Oh yes. Ready, just as soon as you are." Jins watches as Matthew begins to take the lead then suddenly turns on him. The weapon pointed at him as Jins' face reacts with a dangerous glare. "What the fuck do you think you're..." Though, before he can finish his sentence he is ordered not to posess another person and just one split second his face contorts to pain as the crossbow's arrow shoots directly through his stomach. He gasps. The knife in his hand drops to the ground as his hands move to his stomach and he falls to his knees, making his hands grasp the ground to keep him from falling the rest of the way down. "You... son of a ..." His words come out in painful gasps, while he glares up at Matthew. "... Posession... is nine-tens of the law... Unless... she is with so...someone, she is mine." He growls at Matthew. He begins to stand again, leaning heavily against the wall. "You... will regret.. this. You better keep your eye on her or she's... liable to disappear." With that, Jins backs away from Matthew. He doubles over grasping at the arrow and takes a few steps back.

We train for this the whole time. It's supposed to happen in the arena though. Not our here, in cold blood. Fights are tolerate as long as both parties agree to the 'tournament'. Even fist fights are tolerated on the training grounds. It's what always happens. One guy taking another one out with a weapon though? A whole different issue.
Right now I don't care about the consequences though. My anger has blinded me to what's good for me. All I know is that this guy has instilled an enourmos fear into a girl, who willingly took me on in the woods. He is possessive and beats her with no aparent reason. I hate him. It's a simple as that. No matter what my feelings for Kyanite might be, this guy needs to pay.
There's not a single doubt in my mind that shooting him is the right thing to do.

"What the fuck do you think you're..." I hear him gasp as he drop to his knees. Good.
"I'm putting you where you belong...On you knees." My eyes are cold as steel when I watch him clutch his stomach. "I hope it hurts like a bitch, you little piece of shit."

The following words from the lunatic are jumbled, gasped, between pained breaths but they clearly let me know he wants to make Kyanite disappear.
A hole in the stomach doesn't slow this bastard down. Instead he will go after her even more. Shit!
I need to act fast. I cannot risk this man going after Kyanite. He is way too dangerous.
"she's... liable to disappear." He claims.

If I let him get away with only an abdominal wound he'll hurt her...bad.
There's only one thing to do: I load the next bolt into the cross bow, take two steps forward and grab him by his hair with my left hand. Then I set the bolt against his temple just to let it rest there and make clear. "You're not going to take her anywhere...or anybody else." My finger tightens around the trigger again but I hesitate to kill him for a brief moment.

" You are on the wrong side of the track here," Jins says letting out painful sighs between words. " You... Are going.... to pay, just as much... as her." Jins looked straight at the cross bow bolt staring him down. Jins never showed it but he was nervous and because he knew by this point that the kid may do it.

" If you do this, my friends, they will make sure you, and HER pay for it." Jins tries to come off less threatening but more logical. Jins closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Well, whatever happens next will either end his pain, or add to it, he thought to himself. Jins secretly loved Kyanite, but the only way he knew how to show it was through pain. He realizes that this is the wrong way, but it was the right way due to his past and he would stick with it.

Hearing footsteps behind him, Jins lets out a sigh of relief. Jins calmed down a bit, surely Matt was not stupid enough to shoot hin front of people. Even Jins knew not to act that stupid. " Think about what you are doing here, sure your a 'Hero' but no one will see it that way." Jins gave a mocking smile off. " Make your decision pretty boy." Jins continues to mock him, less afraid.

I've never been at this point before. Sure, we train to kill every time we're at the center. Each one of us knows that he or she needs to do it when they are reaped. It's a necessity in the arena, not out here though. If I do it it's my own call. Right now consequences don't matter. The only consequence I think about is Kyanite getting the full force of what I might have just caused. I might have made things worse for her...now I need to see it through. To protect her.

My hands twist the bunch of dark hair slighty to make him look at me.My jaw is clenched, ever muscle in my body tense, breathing excellerated just like my heartbeat.

His threats don't care me in the least, nor do his friends. "You don't care me." I press through gritted teeth.

My moment passes too fast as footsteps and voices come closer.
It's now or never.

" Think about what you are doing here, sure your a 'Hero' but no one will see it that way. Make your decision pretty boy." He mocks me. I don't even need his mocking words. I know what I have to do.

"I have." My expression becomes hard. I hold my breath and pull the trigger.

Click, bam....my eyes are shot for only a split second but I can feel blood splatter onto my face.
When I open them I see the gash the bolt left on the side of his skull. It's only superficial. An ugly long crater but surely not deadly.
I let out a breath I don't know I've been holding. For a split second I wonder whether I've missed him on purpose or just got shaky hands.
Whatever it is, it's over.

Matts hands shake above Jins head and he smile. This kid is nervous when it comes to killing, he fires, it hits but does not kill. Jins lets out a light sigh in pain but bites his lip to numb the pain. Jins waits for Matt to remove himself from on top of him and stands slowly and whispers to Matt.

" All the pain you caused to me, its gonna be twice as bad for her." Jins winks and steps into the crowd, and follows them into the building, heading to the medical center. After being asked about the wounds Jins lies, saying it was a misfired bolt and the gash on the side of his head was from falling after the impact. After being stitched up, Jins decides its time to head home and rest. Grabbing a dagger off a table and sneaking it out for protection just in case Matt is waiting for him.

Before I know it the group of people is so close that I can't even attempt to finish him off. If only I had done it properly, then Kyanite wouldn't have to be afraid now. But I'm a coward...and apparently no murderer. With a whirlwind of emotions inside I watch him disappear in the crowd while I hide the cross bow behind my legs.

One guy briefly looks over at me just to keep walking with the others. Then they're all gone, including the boy, who thinks he owns Kyanite. With him some of the anger that had boiled up dissapears and my breathing slowls down to a somewhat normal pace.

The snow falling around me makes it look like I'm just enjoying the quiet night air. But the blood on the ground gives away what just happened.

What did happen? I guess I tough him a lesson, caused him some pain in return for the emotional pain he's giving Ky, but at the same time I endangered her even more. Pissed off the biest. I might also have landed myself in jail if he feels like pressing charges.

After what seems like an eternity I finally move from my spot and wipe his blood from my face.
What's done is done. Time to get rid of the cross bow.
At least the girl is safe...for now.
