Appearance:

Aleina is a slight child; just under average height with narrow shoulders and a petite frame. Despite being fifteen she's hardly developed a figure yet. She barely has hips or a bust but she does have a fairly small waist, an attribute possessed by many of the other girls and women in her extensive family. She's also quite scrawny. She has thin arms with sharp elbows and surprisingly tiny wrists. Her hands are small, sharp knuckled and end with long, fingers that are squared at the tips. Her legs are much the same; long but bony shape. Her knees are knobbly and her ankles just as skinny as her wrists. Finally, she has small feet with stubby toes.

Her skin is fair and freckled. Most of the freckles that she has lay in a smatter across her short, slightly turned up nose and cheeks. Aleina's face is rounded. She has a short forehead and a cleft chin. Her eyes are a shade between green and blue; light, but rimmed with a much darker shade. They're almond shaped and framed by short but thick, dark lashes. Beneath them, whether the result of tiredness or malnutrition, she has dark, short of sunken marks.

Aleina's lips are slightly swollen looking and the colour of frosted primroses. She's got quite a small mouth. Her teeth are almost perfectly white but she has a gap between her front, upper centre teeth. In addition to this, she has slightly lengthier canines. Above her lips she has a deep philtrum groove.

Other than on her nose and cheeks, her more prominent freckles, she has smaller freckles scattered all over the rest of her body. Smaller, fainter freckles adorn her forehead, shoulders and arms. She has the seldom darker freckles on her legs and stomach. From going out on the boats with her father in the district, she has, despite being slight and scrawny, fairly toned her arms and stomach. Her belly button sticks out. Other than that, her only other freckles appear on her slender neck.

Her hair is thin and a little wispy. She's subject to flyaways and, because of spending so long in sea water, 'beach-waves'. The colour of it varies but manages always to fall somewhere between auburn and red. Her eyebrows are thin and light in colour; they're there but only just. Aleina's hair falls to somewhere between her shoulders and the small of her back.

Personality:

Aleina can be a complex girl, like many others her age. She's multi-layered and her actions often depend upon who you are more than who she is. She's extremely curious. She has to find answers for herself rather than ask and be told what they are. She may be inquisitive, but a lifetime with her parents has taught her not the be nosy. Since a very young age, Aleina has wanted to know everything and to see everything. Her favorite place is the beach where she can watch crabs and collect shells and just watch the water roll in and out.

Though emotionally strong, Aleina hates the very idea of any sort of battle. She hates the thought of people dying or of killing anyone. She once went through a stage of refusing to eat meat because she thought the slaughter of animals was sick, but that led her into illness and she was quickly brought to get over it. Now she has to keep all of those feelings bottled up for the fear of people viewing her as weak. At a time such as this, weak is not something that you want to be seen as.

Unfortunately for Aleina, she's hotheaded. Instinctive. She doesn't often take long to think about her actions, but instead dives straight into things. Sometimes, throwing herself full fling into something can be an asset but more often than not it's a disadvantage. It means that she rarely considers the consequences. She doesn't understand that everything triggers something, no matter whether the result is good or bad. She's impulsive, intuitive. She can make decisions for herself and she makes sure people know that. Even though she has to keep all her feelings of doubt bottled up inside her she wants people knowing that she is her own person. She has her own mind and she can make her own decisions. To a certain extent.

Aleina's skills come in her precision and strength. Despite being one of the younger members of her family she can easily take on her siblings in a play fight. But the problem is she refuses to understand that the name of the Hunger Games is misleading. They aren't really games. Whether she understands by choice or by naivety is a different matter.

History:

Aleina comes from a family of five children. All but one of her siblings are older than her and each have two years between them. Her sisters are Jennifer and Raine. Her brothers Morgen and Dalis. Raine is the only member of the family younger than her. Her parents are Tahlya and Axel. Aleina is the only child in the family whose name does not originate from something to do with water. Aleina is instead named for her Grandmother.

Coming from district four means that Aleina has spent a lot of time on the water. She could swim by the time she was five and was fishing, weaving nets and hooks when she was eight. When she was very young she would go to the coast with her siblings and they would play in the water or collect shells together. Aleina and Jennifer have a bucket full of shells that they collected together during her childhood.

Her most vivid memory is once playing on the banks of one of the beaches in the District; where the trees nearest her house become less dense and then turn into grassy banks then to rocks until finally the drop into the sandy beaches. She was once there with her older sibling, at the age of seven, when she fell down the banks and broke her arm. She remembers the pain of the bones in her arm snapping and the dizziness after banging her head on the way down but her most vivid part of the memory is Jennifer's face. She giggles as she watched her little sister fall into the sand and then the smile fading into shock as she realized that Aleina had been hurt. The two now laugh about it and over the years Aleina's description of her sister's face whilst telling the story has gotten more and more detailed and the tale taller. These days, Aleina often lightly blackmails her sister into doing things for her with; "Remember that time you laughed at me when I broke my arm?" But not being a malicious girl, the chores she gives her sister are usually just things like homework help or household chores.

Her eldest brother lives on the opposite side of the District and has done since he turned eighteen. The rest of the family all live together. Aleina's childhood was better than those of children from other districts and she thanks her parents for that.
