It's ever so odd, the way most would swear the house has been empty for years. "There used to be children living there," say the elderly, "but I don't know where they went." It's true that many years ago the most peculiar children were sent to Miss Partridge - those without parents, the ones that the system didn't wish to deal with. Contrary to popular belief, however, they're still there.
Of course, the first to reside in the Partridge home grew up. They lived their lives after leaving - although many would swear part of them still lurked in the corridors, refusing to let it go. As the years turned, one after another, and each Games went by, more unwanted youngsters appeared on the doorstep. Each one, Miss Partridge took under her wing. They weren't naughty or uncontrollable - but each and every one of them was similar in that they were decidedly peculiar.
For a house of oddities, the streets of District Seven are no haven. They are filled with eyes that bore into skin and avoid the children on the sidewalks, uncomfortable with their very presence. Because of this, Miss Partridge created the perfect sanctuary in the gardens that surround the old house, and it is there they almost always stay.
It's hard to say with whom the fault lies - should the authorities have done a better job finding homes for the children? Should the citizens of the District embraced them with open arms? Perhaps the children themselves should spend less time frolicking in their secluded paradise and more time 'fixing' their differences. Either way, nobody - (not even the kindhearted and stern Miss Partridge) - can argue with the truth. The children are very strange indeed.

Brave and smart, the boy looked up to his only carer, and felt sure that he would always be there to chase the monsters away. When Jacob was eleven, and his grandfather died suddenly, torn apart by wild animals, Jacob's view of the world changed. His previously brave and adventurous personality was tainted by a dark streak. Though he desperately tried to remain his old self and prove that he didn't belong in the Home, he spent the first few years there plagued by nightmares. Not only that, but the monsters his grandfather kept at bay when he was a child now seem to be everywhere he looks, shadows around every corner. Perhaps he's following the path his grandfather walked before his death - one of dementia and insanity. Or, perhaps, he's the most sane of all. |

She's brazen and strong, and the younger kids look up to her and follow her lead, however that isn't always the wisest of options. She's impulsive, with a romantic streak and a guarded, paranoid exterior. Never afraid to jump to violent conclusions, she's battle-hardened yet not wise. Behind her tough exterior, Emma is a dreamer. She's idealistic and slightly helpless, refusing to see the best in everything and yet always clinging to the hope that it's there. Frequently finicky and blunt with her emotions, Emma feels everything very strongly and isn't afraid to sulk when things don't go her way. |

She's sweet, with a timid smile always dancing on her lips and words rarely spilling from her shy mouth. When she does manage to say something, she stumbles and stutters over her quiet words. This chronic fear of speaking is not, however, the peculiarity that got her into Partridge House. Almost a year ago, the child gave birth herself to a baby, which resulted in her being banished from her home. The circumstances surrounding the pregnancy are unclear, however they seem to have led to Lena's incredible fear of the truth - she openly deceives and lies without understanding her actions. She's in no way malicious - just entirely unreliable and unstable, plagued by a guilt that makes her near unreachable beyond her sweet smiles. Despite being the only true mother of the house, she's one of the most dependant, unable to act of her own accord and too nervous to venture far from the garden. |

He's spent many years of his life logging details in his leather notebook - almost any argument concerning something that happened long ago can be solved by checking his records. The rules are Millard's friends; when he is unsure of what is coming next or faced with change he often becomes incredibly irritated and afraid. He's reliable and honest - never taking a side in a battle but sticking with the comforting facts he knows. History is very important to Millard - things that have already happened calm his OCD-like behaviour in the same way that unpredictable humans provoke it. |

With her golden curls and crystal blue eyes, she's a delicate little presence among the other children. Preffering to stay in her room and play with her porcelain friends, the girl mostly keeps to herself. She resolutely refuses to eat with the other children, preferring instead to dine alone. The child enjoys preserving her image among the others and surrounding herself with an aura of mystery - she achieves this to a point where some would swear she isn't entirely human. Just a little bit desperate for attention, Claire is the most emotional of all the peculiar children and will burst into tears at almost anything. She's very seldom angered, however, but when she finally snaps each and every resident of Miss Partridge's Home knows to take cover. |
