The Has-Beens and Never-Weres [[D1 Career Plot ]]

No one in all of Panem works harder than Careers. Day in and day out they train, subjecting their bodies and minds to the most brutal forms of torture. And what do they get in exchange? Glory? Fame? For most, the answer is depressingly no. They must watch as Topaz Ross and Peridot Myler become legends, and they fade. Some fought bitterly for the spot, bribing and weaseling their way to the top. Others chose to step aside at the last moment, having found a reason to live.

But all are washed-up has-beens, and there's no going back.

This is a plot for ex-Careers, who get together in the Town Square bar to piss and moan about the Games, about the pathetic tributes who have replaced them. While the structure of this is somewhat artificial, in order to keep the number of characters reasonable, we will be accepting applications for one girl and one boy of each age group, 19 - 30, not including victor slots. Some ideas for characters have been suggested, however, these are not the end all, be all of each position. Got an idea for a 30 year old you're dying to test out? Apply for the slot and see what happens. Dars and I will be reviewing apps, and we welcome already accepted characters.[/center]

[19 Year Old] - Female -

[Peridot Myler] - Male - 19 - FC: William Moseley - The most recent District One Victor, the baby faced, virgin Peridot. Many of the has-beens don't know him well, as quite a few are too old to have even trained with him.

[20 Year Old] - Female - Suggested FC: Ashley Olsen - The (minutes) older of the twins was a favorite to be in the games from a young age. Like her sister, her speed was famous in the district. What she lacked in height she made up for in the lethal, lightning quick strikes she was able to dish out with ease. After she and her sister were both kept from being reaped, they began working in a training center, and plan on opening a center of their own that focuses mainly on speed and stealth.

[20 Year Old] - Female - Suggested FC: Mary Kate Olsen - The younger of the twins has always easily kept up with her sister, and where her sister may have been quicker, she was stealthier. She was able to hide in the shadows, or even in the most obvious of places, and remain unseen. She was just as wanted in the games as her sister, perhaps even a little more. She was always the voice of the pair, anyway, and though her sister might have been able to perform better, she was able to explain and teach better, which was proven after they began working in a center and started saving for their own.

[Topaz Ross] - Female - 21 - FC: Kate Nash - Resident Victor in District One and the mentor to Peridot Myler, Topaz was recently married to a Capitolite. Many of the has-beens cannot help but admire her resilience, while also hating her for achieving the fame they all felt they deserved.

[Jaguar Moreno] - Female - 24 - FC: Ginnifer Goodwin - Ambitious but ultimately unsuccessful, Jaguar has watched her brothers fight and perish in the arena, when she has desperately envied their position. Now working as a jewelsmith, Jaguar sets her own hours, and operates as the unofficial director of the has-beens.

[Dars' Choice] - Female - 25 - Taken.

[26 Year Old] - Female - Suggested FC: Christina Aguilera - Rival to [Dars' Choice], this is a lady who knows her way around town. She has looks that can kill, and curves for miles and miles. She's never been afraid to use her looks to her advantage, and continues to do so, even after the crushing disappointment of not being reaped. Her best friend and antagonist, [Dars' Choice], keeps her going, even on days when she wishes she could disappear.

[26 Year Old] - Male -

[27 Year Old] - Female - Suggested FC: Michelle Rodriguez - This girl was widely talked about for her quick temper and her blatant disregard for authority. She did what she felt was best for her, and in doing so managed not to get reaped, the only thing she had allowed herself to work for. She turned bitter, even more so than she was, and twisted. After getting pregnant as a result of a one night stand with [30 Year Old Male], she decided to teach her daughter everything she knew, even though the majority of it was dangerous, bad advice.

[27 Year Old] - Male -

[28 Year Old] - Female - Suggested FC: Sarah Michelle Gellar - The definition of queen bitch, this ex-Career truly believes she can still be reaped. It doesn't matter how young the tributes look, or how many times the has-beens try to disenchanted her. The illusion, her deep and abiding ability to lie to herself, is stronger than any exterior force. She is one of the few has-beens to have kept herself in fighting shape. Give this woman a wooden spear, and she is unstoppable.

[28 Year Old] - Male - Suggest FC: Paul Walker - A rarity in District One, this Career was never all that good with weapons. Instead, he would have relied on sponsorship, his words and his looks to get him safely through the arena. And it might have worked. Considered a young contender for the Mayor position, he is charming and easy to talk to. He once worked at the bar where the has-beens meet, and often can get them a round for free. He is careful to cultivate his friendships, and is looking to settle down.

[29 Year Old] - Female - Suggested FC: Alicia Silverstone - Psychotic. There's no better way to put it. And there's certainly no one in Panem whose face is more opposite their personality than hers. She looks sweet and innocent, but this a born killer, one who delights in the feeling of burned flesh, who cannot help but draw her fingers through an open flame. She yearns for the taste of blood, even though she has not sparred in years, and while she often says the stupidest things, the has-beens take her bloodlust very seriously.

[29 Year Old] - Male - Suggested FC: Jared Leto - Once upon a time, this Career was known for his skills with polearms. His compact body, jaw dropping wing span, and deadly focus were not to be trifled with in the gym. A shoe-in for victor, they all said. And when it fell apart, he turned to alcohol, and then drugs. He is slowly getting his act together, thanks to the other has-beens, but it is a constant struggle.

[30 Year Old] - Male - Suggested FC: James Van Der Beek - This man could write the Douche Tool Manual and have content to spare. While he was always something of a cheeky bastard as a teenager, the moodiness and brooding that comes with losing ones passion has taken over. He now runs a training gym, which is known for its brutal (and thusfar unsuccessful) techniques. Career parents keep drinking the koolaid, though, so he is also one of the wealthiest has-beens. And he doesn't let them forget it.

Development Ideas: As a longtime has-been, he fluctuates between wishing for his Career days and scorning his addiction days (which are actually pretty recent). However, despite how adamant he is on staying sober, his mind will frequently wander to the pleasure that he felt while intoxicated. His physique has definitely gotten worse with age and the substances, and a part of him believes that he can get it back. He might also slip into the "well, back when I was a Career..." every now and then, to everyone's [dismay <--this is not the right word, but I'm having difficulties remembering the right word... I hate TOT]. Basically, this guy is in denial and trying to reach acceptance (and not doing too well).

Development Ideas: Her bitterness does nothing but grow ever since she wasn't reaped, and it only feeds into her 7 year-old daughter, who is beginning to act just like her mother. She always finds an excuse to argue with anyone she can, and craves nothing more than attention (which she gets plenty of). She lives life the way she did back when she was in training, working out, practicing, but all in vain, burying her regrets into the flesh of training dummies that she shouldn'e even be using, but no one really cares.
