Skin pressed to skin as figures blended into one another, hot air rushing down sweat-stained necks, wandering hands grabbing for thighs and hips twitched restlessly beneath unresponsive eyes. Puddles and patches of spilt drink tarnished every available surface, tables stocked around the crowded floor coated in strong-smelling spillages were vacated aside from a few collapsed bodies strung over their supportive embrace. Half finished glasses tipped carelessly on their sides scattered from corner to corner with united indifference were left abandoned, their contents free to ooze freely from their containers. Clueless phantoms moved blindly through a sea of activity, apologizing to deaf ears as mindless hands pried and shifted obstacles from their path. Conversations forgotten on the spot lace the sound of the music with amplified mutterings while others scream the words into the night, led for a few feeble hours to believe they can actually sing in tune under the influence of the liquids and powders passing from hand to hand, mouth to mouth through the toxic venue. Estella had found herself once again in the mix, centered in the thick of a crowd claiming possession over the toilets for a few passing moments. People spoke but nothing was really heard, no sentence remained in the brain for longer than a few seconds, a few absent moments where the noise ricocheted and a half-gargled response was offered in return. Of course Ella didn’t speak, her communication was stilled by the activity her hands busied themselves with as a strip of plastic shuffled a thin powder into separate lines while familiar hands lingered at her waist giving room for peering eyes to overlook her process as a chin balanced on her shoulder and the hot breath of a friend brushed the bud of her ear with the impatience of each passing moment. “Come on Ella, I want some more.” Crooked lips sinisterly split in a mocking smile as ivory whites flashed in an intimidating grin sparking a flare to burn in the centre of magma stained eyes, “If you want it faster then shut up and buy your own.” Pushing the palm of her hand into the stomach of the loitering blonde, a quick movement openly urged her away and her attentions calmly returned to focus on the deed at hand. Once the lines were even, the distance between herself and the card that was being used as a table top diminished to allow a single nostril to inhale the white mixture with a deep, defined pleasured exhale quick to chase the act. Shifting clumsily around the huddled bodies the rest was left to the girl at her rear whilst the thin-framed distinguishing district two girl found herself propped up against the cool, refreshing surface of the toilet tiles, embracing the extinguishing chill rushing over the heat of her skin. “Urg, that’s better.” There was something euphoric about the repercussions of the powder, something exhilarating in the heat and thrilling in the pulse pounding in the back of her head. Of course her family didn’t know, they probably didn’t even know she’d left the house, they were all too busy with their own lives to take notice of something as insignificant as the temporary disappearance and absence of a sibling. Everything that was secretive always seemed better anyway, being underage, dabbling in the drugs, running the palms of frenzied hands over the curves of complete strangers and being able to afford whatever luxury you desired.. now that, that was life and Estella intended on living it to the full.

Why on earth am I here?
My blue eyes are slightly glaced over when I let them roam over the crowd that seems to become one wobbling mess in front of my eyes. Men and women swaying to the mind numbing music that I really can't stand are all becoming one big blurr in front of my eyes as I tip my head back and look through the bottom of my beer glass. One more gulp and it's empty.
I wipe some of the bronze liquid from my face and set the glass down.
"Have you had enough?" My 'friend' asks me when he sees my empty glass.
I try to suppress and burp but shake my head no.
Whatever I came here for hasn't been accomplished yet. Still I wonder what it is. I don't come to these places on a usual evening. A lot of times I stay home, punch my boxing sack in the garage, have a chat with my father or read a book. If I go out I come to the local pub where I can listen to some real live music, not this electronic crap.
Yet i do enjoy the hip crowd in their sknaky outfits and crazy hair. I don't feel part of them but I like watching. I also enjoy the occasional glance they give me. Like I'm different with my plaid shirt, the low riding jeans and heavy boots. There's not much style in my clothing. Yet I earn a few smile from random chicks I don't know or care for. Because the one woman I care for is not here.

"One more?" Kyle asks me, so pull some cash out of my pocket and slap it on the bar. "Sure. I gotta take a leak."
I clap him on the back and make my way through the crowd towards the back. My steps have become fairly unsteady and I bump into one or the other person on my way. By the time I'm near the bathrooms 5 people have apologized to me even though I ran into them. Interesting!

There's a line up of guys who are chatting to girls in front of the bathroom like it's some sort of secret hiding spot.
"may I?" I push one to the side and enter into a room of mirrors and lights and....girls.
"Shit." I exclaim when I find myself in the middle of the womens bathroom filled with girls who are freshening up their make up, talking or doing....what the hell are the doing?
I'm already turning on my heel when i realize what's going on in hear and that the first one is telling me to "Get out. Ladies only!"
Within a split second I out the door and searching for the right one instead.

My hands wrap dangerously around my curls as I get lost in the shining and dancing lights. My eyes half closed to all the drunk people around me because for once, I've joined their ranks. My dance partner stands in front of me with his white shirt showing spots of sweat that soak through his shirt. My body sways with each thump of the music and for moments at a time, I get lost in my thoughts. My vision swims even with the effort of trying to keep my eyes closes and still, I bump into someone no matter how hard I try. I don't apologize and I keep dancing. I've lost my heels somewhere near the opening of the dance floor due to the biting pain that the pointed toe at the end was causing. My two big toes are now releived of the pressure and I find myself suddenly in the arms of another man. "Hey, baby... let's say you and me- we hit the town runnin?" He claims and I feel his grubby hands on my back already trying to push me up next to him. I places my hands on his chest and push away. "I would... but, I'm in no mood to run. Just dance... but I might consider it for say... another drink? You buy?" I tell him and run my finger down the front of his shirt and stop mid-chest. I give him a slightly seductive grin and a perfect eyebrow lift then I watch as his stumbling form starts off for the bar. Another perfect stranger. Another gullible sucker. At least, the drinks are free. I need this... more than anything else, I need this freedom. The musics tempo changes. The rhymth gets harder to keep up with and I look over to the bar as the bartender hands him a glass full of golden beer and some colored drink. I watch with great need to make sure he doesn't slip something into the liquid and once he gets back to me, he has stumbled more that three times. I laugh into the proper meeting with him. "What's your name, slick?" I throw the question at him and he hands me the colorful glass. "Rick." He says. I take a sip of the liquid and feel the burning sensation of the mixed drink warm my insides and play with my vision even more. I'd lost track of how many I had. Mix that with how many dances that I've subjected myself too and I feel as though my body won't be able to stand up straight much longer without having to expell some of the contents. Still, I gulp at the stuff and then bring it from my lips as the man begins his routine with me. He pretends he knows what he's doing. Some weird dance that looks like a dying chicken mixed with the grace of... something else. I laugh. Somehow, as he looks down to his feet, the glass somehow tips and before I know it, he stumbles spillling the liquid over my top. The first thing I do is gasp. "You idiot!" I stammer out. I look down to my golden, one sleeved top and see the outline of the liquid that touched it. "It's ruined." The rest of the colored drink I hold in my hand is shoved into his waiting and apologetic hands as he tries to cop a feel with the towel he's using to dab at my blouse. I stumble away from him and head straight to the ladies room. I pass by a few couples talking and I push open the door to the bathroom. Immediately, I see the girls all huddles together dabbling with something and I hear one talk about some drunk guy that happened his way into the ladies room. I don't heed their words as I reach for the nearest bathroom and instantly let my face become friendly with opened hole. Moments pass by until I am sitting beside of the porceline bowl and I feel my stomach churn, but at least I feel better now. A few stalls down, I hear the same thing and I can only imagine that they, too, had one too many. I come out of the stall, completely pale and walk to the mirror and the sink, washing my hands. The entire time, I notice a girl whose leaning against a wall. Her face displays nothing but a calm demeanor. For a few minutes, I think I need to just relax and with a few uneven steps, I make over near the girl and sit, leaning against the wall. "Some guy... the NERVE..." My voice comes out with a slurred tone, but not by much. "spilled his beer.. some drunk guy... I just need to lose that guy." I say to no one particular but since she's beside me, I roll my head over to talk. "I can't believe that man."

Extravagant voices drowned into the exotic buzz that wired the space between ear to ear and penetrated the depths of her turbulent mind. Colours rushed by in pretty little whirlwinds, flashes of flamboyant pinks fading to salmon streaks across the ceiling, glimpses of black and gold shimmering in and out of focus as blurred shapes passed by in gusts of scented drafts. Perfume drenched every tile, leaking from every throat and intermixing into the air as one suffocating cloud growing heavier, thicker with every body that piled into the space. The toilets always managed to become the main attraction on any night out, always the gathering spot for lost individuals and the gossiping hole for wagging tongues and over-excited lips. It provided the secrecy for casual bitching, the privacy for drugs, the indiscretion for embarrassing antics. The toilets if anything never failed to be interesting. Things seemed normal, the sensation of the powder dripping down the back of her throat, the overbearing echo of irritating laughs bouncing from left to right...that was of course until some accidental intrusion seemed to cause an uproar. Focusing took a little effort and after narrowing both eyes in some discrete determination to catch a clear glimpse of the culprit for the upheaval, Estella saw nothing more than a confused, somewhat bewildered looking man. What was the big deal? So the guy had made a mistake, it wasn’t like he was some malicious predator stalking the stalls for his next victim. Besides you couldn’t see anything, that’s what the toilet doors were for. Idiots. The lot of them. Scoffing dismissively, when a familiar hand plowed onto the surface of her shoulder Ella did nothing more than rip her flesh away from the palm and offer a judgmental glance, “Did you see him? Did you not see him?” Her voice was akin to nails on a chalk-board, high and altered with the amount of alcohol she’d be throwing down her throat, not to mention that ghastly expression worn across her features as-if someone had done something to dramatically offend her. “Get over it, it’s not like he threw himself on you.” Pausing thoughtfully her head would relax back into the tile, a small defined smirk weaving itself upon the surface of those deviously shaped lips, “Or would ever want to.” The comment of course drew the reaction she’d silently expected, fo the second the insult fell freely from the tip of her tongue she felt the ferocity of a drilling glare baring into the side of her face, drilling two holes that she was rather indifferent about, “There’s no need to be a bitch, Estella.” Opening a single eye to peer from beneath long, darkened lashes, the ivory whites primarily concealed beneath blushing lips would make a brief mocking appearance, “That’s good advice, you should follow it more often.” With that the eye disappeared behind the smokey veil of her lid and the sound of retreating footsteps disappeared, lost amongst the mutterings of a growing crowd. For a whole moment things were quiet and the electricity buzzing beneath bubbling flesh began to rise, that familiar sensation biting at its breaking point, ready to embrace the rhythm of the music. But of course something stemmed the euphoria and a different voice broke into the temporary serenity and caused that single eye to reappear and squint thoughtfully at the new-figure with contemplation. She seemed distressed about something, but then everyone always at some point got irritated, angry, frustrated and all those other negatives thing during the duration of a night out. Most experienced an entire spectrum of emotions before forgetting the entire thing. Peering downwards, deciding to inevitably open both eyes, a thoughtful brow would develop a quizzical arch and straight lips would purse into a plush pout. “Guys are useless, the lot of them.” It wasn’t often conversation was that appealing with strangers, not to Estella, usually they weren’t worth more than a moment or two, but what was more fun that insulting men and their uselessness? Probably not a lot. Not in this joint anyway. “Shame it wasn’t something else, Beer stinks.” It was spoken with light indifference with a sort of factual tone that melted into the softness of her otherwise velvet chime, her voice naturally well pronounced and highly defined despite the tonic of drugs and alcohol swirling beneath the surface. “Did you throw something back on him? Cause you should have.”

Judging bz their irritated looks some of those girls are readz to throw their lipsticks at me so I back out of the women bathroom just to use the other one. The one that was reaking of masculinity, friendly banter, testosterone and the odd guy in tight pants and a walk that gave away he was sneaking a peak at your best parts when you’re doing your business.
For a moment I wonder what makes the guy, who is doing exactly that, tick.
With my one hand still on the cold green tiles in front of my I cast a glance at him. “Fancy a beating?” I ask him sarcastically.
The dark haired guy cocks his head to the side and smirks at me. “Why not?”
Oh, my…I don’t think he’s got the same in mind as I do.
“Maybe another time.” I frown at him because guys are clearly not my thing but I don’t want to start a fight tonight either. That whimpy little fella wouldn’t stand a chance anyway.

I’m done so I step away from the urinal and wash my hands. With a look in the mirror I see his eyes follow me. He’s checking me out. At any other time that might have rubbed me the wrong way. Not today though. Who knows, maybe I hate girls so much because I actually like guys. I’ve never thought of it that way but today I’m drunk enough to let my throughts go down these paths.
I run my hand through my hair and turn to leave…but not without casting another meaningful look at the guy. I guess I’m just really screwing with his head right now because he’s got that longing look on his pretty features all of a sudden.
Once outside the door I have to suppress a laugh.

Pushing my way through the crowd I walk back to the bar where my friend has order another beer.
“What’s taken you so long?” He enquires in a low drawl.
“Flirting.” I cockily remark but he comes back at me. “I’ve never seen you flirt.”
The beerglass feels nice and cool under my touch considering how hot it is in this place and the barstool gives my wobbly legs enough stability.
What’s much better is the way it flows down my dry, hoarse throat.
From here I can see half the dance floor. There’s a lot of people out there, dancing, grinding, almost making love to the vibrant loud music. It’s quite the sight and in the middle of them all I spot her.
“Kyanite.” I whisper.
“What?” My buddy asks but I disregard him and get up instead with beer glass in my hand. Slowly I walk towards her and pull on the rim of my pants that are threatening to slide down too far.
From closer up I can watch every move she makes. How her hips sway to the sound. How she’s holding her arms up to the beat and closes her eyes to feel it. She is one with the music. What a sight. A warm, tingling sensation spreads in my gut when I stand and watch HER.

The yellow liquid that was once in his beer cup makes my nose scrunch up as I pull the fabric of the threads up to my nose. I take a heavy wiff of it. The stench is enough that I can't deal with it, and pull my face away feeling my stomach churn once again. I let the fabric go back to the original place on my body, straightening it back, as the girl beside of me comments on what I was saying about the men. "Did you throw something back on him? Cause you should have." I shake my head, but stop abruptly when it makes my head spin. I've never gotten this bad before. A couple of drinks yes, but for some reason, I went overbored tonight. What reasonings could I have for this? To let the liquid settle my nerves to the point that I can't seem to think of anything else at the moment but one person. Doubt he'll come here though. I let my head hit the wall behind me as I stare up at the patterns on the ceiling as they spin out of control and then begin to swim. I give off a slight moan as I look around to all the girls that are clammering around in here. The sounds and smells of the porcelin bowls that are being used a little too frequently. Somewhere in the bathroom, the echo of someone getting sick penetrates my ears and I close my eyes in order to take away the thoughts of what I just went through not more than a few minutes ago. I roll my head to stare at her again. "Been out there yet to dance? They are more drunk than usual tonight. More than willing to buy the drinks for anyone." I lean up from the wall and put my head on my knees for a few moments. "One too many... or one not enough." I think outloud and with a weakness in my arm, I push off from the wall. It pains me enough that it feels real still, not my imagination. The healing wound. I walk a few uneasy steps to the floor length mirror set up and stare at my reflection. My golden shirt now shows off the darker hue from it being wet. The tight black skirt hugs my hips, in ways that on a sixteen year old, shouldn't. My age old manuevers work to get into the club. The same ole excuses, but different everytime. They must be stupid. I don't need to worry about buying my own drinks when there are plenty of guys willing to purchase them for me. I run my fingers through my hair, letting the curls at the end bounce off my fingertips until I'm satisfied with the way my hair looks. I turn back to the girl I had previously spoken to. "You should hit the dance floor with me. Protect me from the drunk guys that want to spill their beer on me." I say and for reasons that baffle me. My tongue is loose tonight. My mind seems to be unable to keep my voice from staying aloof around perfect strangers. I place my hand on the wall for a moment to stabilize myself and I don't wait on the girl to agree or disagree. "Com'on!" I open the door to the ladies room and make a beeline for the dance floor once again. The music once again gets ahold of me as I start to let my mind sway with the music. I let myself go completely go. My eyes close to the darkness that is decorated with the dancing, colored lights. I let my hands explore my body and turn a few times to keep that rhythm going that I know how to dance. The next thing I know, I bump into someone and open my eyes to see the same drunk guy that spilled his beer on me. "Where you been, baby? I've been wondering where you've been. You said you'd hit the town with me after a drink." He pushes himself at me and I shove him off, shaking my head at him. "Sorry... not interested." I say and that's when I move away from him and then as I look somewhere out into the crowd of people, I see the face that I can't mistake who it is. Matthew is here...

Peering sights effortlessly fall once more to scan the crouched figure, perhaps she’d met the same fate and that was the cause for look of nausea paling her features and the vacant glaze blurring the colour of her eyes. That was the danger of drink, just a little too much and everything was lost, morals, common-sense, standards, the entire load flushed down the drain and replaced with liquid confidence, bad-judgement and an irresponsible belief of being a professional dancer. Idle thoughts however soon found themselves interrupted by the return of that now familiar voice, the slight slurring of otherwise somewhat understandable words drawing a brief, quickly disregarded, frown. “You shouldn’t let them buy your drinks. I know what they put into them. Could be why you’re so fucked right now.” ” Elevated shoulders gave a light, passive roll. Estella had never worried about the cost of buying drinks, she had enough money that the burden of savings and sensibility was void and thus she never wasted a moment of her time swapping words with the unworthy in the hopes of getting a drink or two. Wetting the length of her drying lower lip with a fleeting sweep from her tongue, Ella would cast a partially sympathetic glance downwards, there were a lot of drunken bodies swarming around but she hadn’t yet come across someone who looked that disorientated in some time. “Wow, the question of an alcoholic.” Smirking fondly, underlying whites once again surfaced in a brief glimpse of exposure before sinking back behind their stronghold to settle between striking cheeks. Observing the effort it took for the other girl to clamber back onto her feet and gain a decent footing only confirmed the internal thoughts that drugs were always a better option than alcohol, well most of the time unless they caused some fit or terminal backlash. But that’d just be unlucky and one thing Estella was, was lucky. Chasing the girl’s movements with slight curiosity, dark, penetrating eyes calmly settled on the figure before a soft movement was made to push herself from the wall and float forwards to stand momentarily at her side. “No one will notice, it’s too dark out there and people are too drunk.” Motioning to the subtle staining she’d give a somewhat convincing statement, people were far to preoccupied at this time in the night to be judgmental, no doubt there’d be someone somewhere staggering around with a shirt full of sick and lines of black smeared down their cheeks. “Because I have nothing better to ---” Pausing mid-speech a look of bewilderment briefly painted itself upon volatile features as the girl’s response cut-off her sentence and lured her from the bathroom. To be honest she couldn’t think of the reason why she was following, probably because she really didn’t have anything better to do and the only thing she was craving was a dance, something to expel all the building energy onto. Tracing the footing of the stranger, Ella easily swerved between the oncoming bodies, exchanging casual nods with the few she recognized and purposely avoiding eye-contact with those who knew her older sister, not quite wanting them to find out her interests lay in dabbling with the drugs of the rich quite yet. Once the line of known individuals faded Ella instinctively turned to look for the girl she’d been following, only to smother an impulsive laugh at the realisation the hefty looking drunk brute had returned for round two. Got to hand it to him, the guy was a trier. Strolling over, the straight faced district two girl placed herself strategically at the girl’s side, smiling somewhat sinisterly at the pursuer, “You heard her big guy, maybe you should lower your standards a little... or a lot.” Listening to his gruff, disgruntled scoff brought a sense of enjoyment to stream through the core of her physique whilst intrigued eyes casually pranced afar to follow the gaze of the unknown girl, only to land upon a stranger who by her expression Ella could only assume she knew. “Friend of yours?”

The loud sounds of the music and electronic drumbeats resonate in my ears. Add the alcohol and it's hard to concentrate on anything. Anything but her. I never pictured Kyanite as a party girl but here she is dancing and living it up. I guess I have to readjust my picture of her. She's not that focussed, stern career girl but there is some truth to her being a bit of a 'tease'. She knows just how to shake those hips and when her own hands move along her body I cannot help but remember out closeness in the cabin. She's freaking hot!

Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so because some random guy is leaning into her and trying to get a little close for my taste on the dance floor. I'm not sure what she's telling him but if I'm correct Ky's telling him to bugger off. Yet I feel a hint of jealousy when I see some random dude make a move on her. Not that she's mine.

Suddenly another girl, who had been dancing close to her interferes. She's a little smaller and brunette. Isn't she one of the chicks from the bathroom, who gave me such a strange look?

The brute decides to move on to his next target but not before giving both girls a nasty look and some random swear words.

Then their eyes suddenly find me. First Kyanites, then the other girls. Is there a smile on her lips? I'm wondering if my appearance is just ruining her hefty night out or whether she's happy to see me.

Since both girls are looking at me I start walking towards them but have a hard time walking through the moving crowd.
Once I reach them I'd love to kiss Kyanite hello but I don't dare to. Not in public. Instead I simply give her a friendly grin and ask over the noise.
"What are you doing here?" As if it wasn't obvious.
Then I turn to the smaller brunette.
"I'm Matthew."
In the middle of the dancing and hopping crowd I look like an idiot with my frozen legs and beer in hand. I certainly don't belong on the dance floor.
My attention is soon back on Kyanite. "It's good to see you. Everything okay?" After all I hadn't heard or seen from her in a few days and I didn't know her number.

It wasn't that I didn't want to, but my intentions were only good enough to get him to buy me the drink. The pink swirled drink that tasted of cherries and a hint of lime and a good amount of something else that had given me a sensation of warming me from the inside out. The taste of the drink though is what set my stomach to turn. And I remember It tasted so much better the first time, but now, I feel parched once again. My little trip into the bathroom was rather unwelcomed but that was over with now. My moment of intimacy with the porceline throne was over with. I looked to the girl beside me and give her a half assed grin. "Tha..nks for following me! That guy was the one who did this to me. I don't know what I'm going to do when I get home... if my dad smells this, I'm going to be in it deep." I point to my top, but I'm pretty sure she knows that already. I bring a hand up to my head for a moment whilst the floor beneath me still floats. Maybe what she said could be true. That letting random guys buy my drinks for me was bad. I want to disagree because I watched them intently as they each went to the counter. I never let my eyes off of them but how could I be absolutely be positive that they didn't slip something into one of those colorful drinks that I've been downing tonight? Though, I'm starting to think that maybe, the drinks I've had, might just be too much for me. I don't normally do this. I train. I'm emotionally usually against consuming the devilish liquid. I'm usually the responsible one that knows better than to drink so heavily or drink at all. If I recall right, the last drink I had was that one night with Matthew and that was only half of a bottle. Those circumstances were different. That day had taken so much out of me. Still, my eyes keep the floor wobbling and play tricks on me as I stare into the crowd of people but for once my eyes only settle on that one face. Matthew... you're here? "Friend... maybe. Maybe more." I tell her to her inquired comment. I nod slightly to her as Matthew begins to make his way near us, and I can't help but display a wicked smile on my face. I instantly put my hand through my hair, combing out the bounce in my ends and for a moment, I sway from where I stand. "Dancing. Enjoy the night. Too much going on lately and this is the only way to put away those stessors!" I tell him rather loudly because I'm afraid he won't hear me above the music. I stare at the brunette girl and hear as Matthew introduces himself to her. My first thought was to introduce her to him, so the first thing out of my mouth was the wrong name because I never asked for it in the first place. "Matthew, this is umm... Becca? Not sure. What's you're name?" I tell him and then I turn my attention to the brunette standing beside me, asking her the question. With Matthew's next sentence, I nod to him. "Everything is perfect. You surprised me is all. I didn't expect to see you here." I toss the answer back at him with a tilt of my head. It's just then, that I remember that my shoes are still missing somewhere in this place and most likely near one of the entrances to the dance floor. "Hey, Matt. If you happen to notice some shoes laying around, you'll tell me, right?" I ask him, and bring up a foot up just a little in order to show him how I'm dancing barefooted. With that action alone, I find myself tilting and falling toward him in and use my hands against him to keep myself upright. "Sorry, bout that."

Her worries however coaxed a faint, fleeting laugh to spill from the curve of her mouth as she’d give a gentle shake of her head, causing a few stray strands to brush the definition of her cheek and stick momentarily to her lower lip before being once again swept aside. “Don’t worry about it, there’ll be a chance to get you a clean shirt. Your dad wont no shit.” After all Estella’s mother never figured much out and her step-father wasn’t really a concern, he was just some lower-crust cretin that had, had a stroke of luck in catching her mother’s attention. They were too preoccupied with each-other to worry about any of their children in the meantime. But just incase Ella always had a backup plan to cover her tracks and ensure her antics remained under the radar. Following the girl’s sudden glance to the side, Ella nonchalantly landed her sights upon the guy who’d caught her attention, watching quaintly with little interest. However after a moment of observing quietly, Estella could feel nothing but a wavering sense of unease, a feeling of complete and utter awkwardness, something the upper-crust girl was not accustomed to feeling. It was like being thrown into the scene of some cliche love-story, where all the surrounding dancers slow down in some delayed time-dimension and the two main-characters stare soppily into each-others eyes with distant, longing expressions. Of course there was always denial, but that wasn’t uncommon. Urg, emotional things were just far too strenuous and tiring for the young Antoinette, like a bad hair day or the irritating feeling when you’ve misplaced something, search for it all day and then someone else finds it within half-a-second. Shaking her head dismissively, the dark-haired blurry-eyed brunette simply turned her sights to analyze the man in focus. It was only after several seconds the realization stirred in the back of her mind and whispered across the plate of her ear that, that was the same drunken fool who had stumbled into the girl’s toilets and quickly retreated out moments later. Small world? Wasn’t it just. After an awkward moment of exchanged stares it came as no surprise that the stranger took the initiative to approach and Ella idly watched, looking somewhat bored with a distant expression that reflected the lack of concentration available to her mind in its current state. The initial greeting triggered a brow to elevate slightly in moderate curiosity, it was strange, like the pair of them were bordering on some state of confusion, not friends but not fuck-buddies. It was admittedly a little interesting, if only for a moment. Matthew. So that was his name. Pretty plain in comparison to some of the men she’d met in the past with extravagant, stupid names. At least it was better than Reptar and whatever other bullshit things senseless parents managed to conjure up. Knocked from her train of thought, Estella starred blankly for a few seconds at the pair of them, only now realizing she’d never bothered to introduce herself, but that was normal, usually she just assumed people knew her simply because they often did. After her cousin won the hunger games their family became known for a lot more than simply their wealth, not that Estella at all marveled at Cricket’s accomplishments, but it was nice that she’d survived. “Estella Antoinette.” Weaving the words with a feathered tone, uncensored lips would casually find themselves without a filter once more as she observed the interactions between the pair with a look of sickly displeasure, “If this is going to turn into some cliche, weird romantic moment let me know so I can find something else to do.”

The girls are exchanging some whispered words before I arrive with their smiling eyes on me. Of course I assume they are talking about me but don’t bother asking what. The smile on Kyanites face is enough to assure me that today she’s not talking badly about me. On the contrary. I’m aware she likes me because once she lays eyes on me she tries to make her hair look better.
I’ve never seen her like this with her hair cascading over her shoulders and a tight dress instead of that training suit. On top of it all she’s got make up on and looks 5 years older. What a woman!
"Dancing. Enjoy the night. Too much going on lately and this is the only way to put away those stessors!" Kyanite explains and I can only agree.
“Yep, ‘training’s been tough lately.” I want to touch the scar in her forehead but keep my hand at my side. Too many people around to display such behavior.
"Everything is perfect. You surprised me is all. I didn't expect to see you here."
“A friend dragged me out here. I don’t come here often.” I explain with a gesture towards the bar. The music is really mind numbing and the air filled with lights and dust and sweat.
A quick drink soothes my sore throat. Then I turn to the one next to her, who seems to be roughly the same age, all done up but her attitude is different. Less innocent. That one is more self assured in a situation like this. This girl knows her place in a party crowd. But her glaced over eyes tell me that she’s not sober either.
“Becca, nice to meet you.” I lean in so she can hear me over the noise. Well done, Matt, on your best behavior tonight.
Of course I get corrected when she tells us her real name, that Kyanite somehow got totally wrong.
“Estella Antoinette.” Her disinterest changes for a moment when she lets us know who she is. Her last name rings a bell, too. Every career in this district knows the victors. The name Antoinette sounds very familiar.
"Are you realted to our victor?" I ask politely. If she is, she' basically a celebrity.

She surely behaves like one when she tells us with displeasure.
“If this is going to turn into some cliche, weird romantic moment let me know so I can find something else to do.”
That's just the right thing to say to a guy like me who's got a genuine distaste for your everage girl. Me and romantic.
"Nope, not my style." I assure her.

I cast a brief smirk at Ky, who only knows me as grumpy angry career. I guess I do have a more gentle side as well.
Kyanite tells me something about her shoes that I don’t fully understand while she’s dancing around and lifting her feet. Next thing I know she’s falling against me so I catch her at the last moment with my left and the beer in my right. A splash of beer soaks both of our clothing and my left ring finger, that’s only taped to the other one reminds me how unpleasant our last meeting really was.
On top of her apology I add my own now that she can enter a ‘wet dress’ contest. “I’m sorry, too. You hit my glass.” Am I turning red while staring at her wet chest? Probably.
Gently I rub her bare arm and offer. “Let me get you a napkin.”
Gahh, these girls must think I’m an idiot.

The moment I happen to find Matthew hidden in the crowd of dancing bodies, I notice in my periphrial vision, that she too, notices his gaze upon me. What I don't notice is the head shake or anything other facial features she produces toward me or the approaching male. I can't help but stare after Matthew with this look in my eye and a smile on my lips. I should know better though. Even when she asked if I knew him as a friend, I told her that it was probably something more than that. Damn girl... close your mouth. No one needs to know... I find myself regretting saying that because the relationship between us isn't solid just yet. What we have between each other seems to be just that of 'hey, I like you, but not publicly'. Stilll, just having that small amount seems to put into motion this attitude that's new to me. The drinks have made me more talkative; more freedom to say and do what I normally don't. What has this alcohol done to me? I inwardly speak as the introductions are being done and I get the girl's name wrong. Of course, I would just spout off some random name, but I didn't want Matthew to think that I didn't know her, even though she was standing next to me like a preditor would do if it's young was threatened. I'm actually quite glad she's standing there with me because without her beside me, that drunken guy, who had spilled his beer on me, would have kept on until either I hit him or he would have hit me. At all the times in the world to suddenly drag someone along, I never would have expected for the person I run into to be related to the district two victor. My luck. "Antoinette? Really? That's amazing." I say with this surprise in my voice. I'm also starting to realize my behavior around her and start to wonder why she, of all people, was following me around like this. She probably has better things to do, but it's with the introductions that she seems to be annoyed for some reason. Especially, when she comments on Matthew and I. "No! I hardly know him... just know him from the training center. You know?" I tell Estella with this denial in my voice of someone trying to cover the truth. I do, however, mentally say the girl's name a few times in my head just to remember it. The last name I'll remember with no problem at all, but the first name is what I'm having a hard time recollecting even though she just told us. The name Becca still rings clear in my head though. That's when I fall into Matthew and once again, the yellow liquid that's in his glass finds my top once again. I groan out as he offers an apologie and to get a napkin. "Don't... the shirt is already ruined from that other drunk guy who tried to have his way with me." I say and back up from him and regain my footing. I dab at my shirt, trying to effortlessly remove the liquid as if my shirt was waterproof and just the action of wiping at it would free it of the damp mess. It don't. I shake my head. The smell of the beer finds my nose again, and I scrunch it up. "Lovely..." My unusual round of bad luck seems to bring me down to earth just a little bit. I look to Matthew and then to Estella. "Let's dance!" I say, my voice trailing off and my body starts to, more or less, rhythmically sway to the music once again. I don't even wait on them to accept or deny my proposal. Instead, I just find myself easily back to the music that never stops. Although, the dancing crowd around me seems to not notice that I'm barefooted until the last minute when one stomps right on my foot. I hiss out at the guy who doesn't nothing but shrugs it off and turns from me. "HEY! Ass! Watch where you're stepping." My harsh voice sounds off immediately to the man who has dismissed my pain so easily. I advance on him, planning on giving him a peice of my mind when he turns to meet me with the same expression. We eye each other for moments at a time. His shoulders flex and with the next few moments, things start to unravel quickly.

For a moment she paused on a fidgeting woman with lips redder than blood with eyes of ice to match the cold look of vengeance stamped across her expression, watching contently as she seemed to shout words of venom towards an uncomfortable looking man who appeared akin to someone who had just seen a ghost or a child whose mother had just called them by their full name. Another pair were interlocked in a corner surrounded by a group of jeering over-sized muscle brains exchanging high-fives and a few things that looked as if they’d been won in whatever wager had just been concluded. There was always something interesting happen, even if it wasn’t happening right now. The overview of her brief scout however came to an abrupt halt as the boy’s commandeering voice overtook her senses and drew her back to the current situation with a question she’d managed to interpret above the noise. “Cricket? Yeah, she’s my cousin.” It wasn’t said with a declarative tone or worshipping conviction, instead it was simply brushed over as a simple fact. Estella always preferred it when their family was recognized for their position in society rather than their victorious relative, but no matter, it was better than not being known at all. Lifting a single shoulder, Ella would give another infamous shrug, she seemed to do that an awful lot, always passing over things she didn’t care for or shrugging off topics and conversations she didn’t particularly wish to involve herself with, “It’s not all that amazing.” Turning to listen to the girl’s explanation of how they knew each-other brought a twisted smirk to colour the stretch of her lips as she’d swallow the pressing laughter that attempted to break through the stronghold of her stiffening mouth. “Sure, if you say so..” At least she supposed this explained why they were so impressed about Cricket, careers always where, just like Estella’s own sister who had some sudden infatuation with the games that had excelled vigorously after Cricket’s victory. The promise that the moment wasn’t going to turn into something romantically cliche however was rather short lived once the drunken girl tumbled into the rather awestruck looking guy and his drink drenched her always ruined top that little bit more. It would have been less obvious perhaps if he’d managed to rip his sights away from her breasts for a little while, even if they were impressive he was just plunging himself into hot water. Naturally Estella did nothing but watch in silent amusement as the pair exchanged a nice level of awkwardness and clumsily tried to fix the damage in a rather unsuccessful poor attempt. “Just the training center my ass.” The remark came smoothly, loud enough to hear but spoken in a tone soft enough to escape being perceived as offensive or mocking, Ella was good at things like that though, it always assisted in keeping out of trouble. The next few moments flashed over in a blur, one moment the drunken career was declaring it was time to dance and the next she was in some standoff position against what looked like another beefed up career. The place was full of them. But then so was the entire district. Biting back the urge to smirk at the sight, Estella simply veered off a little to stand at the side, making sure she obtained a front-row seat to the excitement. Of course she also managed to make eyes at a few passing individuals that had slowed to watch the trouble unfold, after all there was never a wrong time to seize an opportunity to use a situation to ones advantage. Besides, Estella was no good at hand to hand combat and had barely any upper-body strength to begin with so in all honesty she was better off as a spectator.

Kyanite tells me that some other guy has ruined her shirt before 'some other drunk ass..'. Am I also a drunk ass? I guess I am!
For a moment I look away from her but then she mentions that he tried to come on to her.
"What? Is he still around?" I scan the people dancing next to us but don't spot anyone. Plus I notice that I sound like a worried boyfriend, which I'm not. Clearly.
"I bet you kicked his butt." I try to hide my smirk.

Her wet dress is my fault and I'm pretty embarassed about it. She must be mad. After all that's a very nice dress she's wearing, hugging her curves perfectly. "Sorry bout that, Ky. It's a very nice dress....suits you." It's my attempt of a compliment. I'm pretty sure my red cheeks are giving away how I feel about her right now.

The disinterest and sarcasm the other girl puts on display is usually my show so I don't mind it at all. It's not like I'm interested in her even though she is really pretty. Pretty alone doesn't do it for me though.
I'm pretty impressed that she's related to our districts victor though.
"Who was her trainer again?" I wonder whether the guys is still around. He would defiently be very popular.

Next thing I know Kyanite is on the dancfloor moving her slender hips to the music. She wants us to join but the other girl steps aside. She looks a little out of it. Maybe she's worried that she'll trip and fall if she dances in this state. Me, I'm worried about dancing in any state.
"Er...I'm not really a..." I move my hand to the music. It's hard to deny her a wish, even though I might look like an idiot.

A little ways over my buddy has already hit the dance floor so I sigh and step closer to her. It takes me a moment to feel the rhythm and get moving to it. I don't dance a lot so I simply move my feet a little and try to imitate whatever Kyanite is doing. The beer, that's making my head spin is doing the rest.
"Do you come here a lot?" I lean in and ask close to Kyanites ear, who suddenly turns away from me and gets into an argument with a guy who apparently stepped on her foot. "HEY! Ass! Watch where you're stepping."
I see her giving that dude a look, who starts rolling his shoulders ready to take her on and simply mutter.
"Oh no, Ky, not now."
She's stepping up to him so I quickly get in between both of them and place my palm on the guys chest. "Just apologize, man, she's not wearing any shoes."
He tries to push me out of the way but I resist. "She should."
"Yeah, right, she should. Apologize." Now it's me who's suddenly in his face....me, the king of apologies.

Did she not care that her cousin was probably the most well known and famous person and just by association by blood was enough to give you a better life? Still, she claims that it's not all that amazing. I would love to meet her. Perhaps, I will one day. I was just over facinated that out of all the people that I would have found here in the club, or rather the bathroom of the club, it had to have been her. As one thing lead to another, my run in with Matthew was all but graceful. Even from the moment that his eyes lingered on my chest, I cleared my throat loud enough for him to hear. His His cheeks reddened but my eyes were too much focused on the face the dancing lights was hitting him. The redness on his cheeks could be that of the lights. I shrug it off though. Even when he mentions the other guy, his demands on finding the person is short lived. "I bet you kicked his butt. For once, I didn't. Instead, I had Estella for backup. I shake my head at Matthew. I stare over at Estella, giving her a nod and a smile before I turn my attention back to Matthew. "Actually, it's handy to have a bodyguard... Estella, the victor, has been very nice to have around!" I tell Matthew. He compliments me a moment later but the compliment must be a sad form of one considering how the top is wet and smells of beer. I genuinely laugh at him. "Really? It's ruined. I have no clue how I'm going to get away with it if my dad smells it on me." I whisper that in his head because of the fact that I'm in a club made for eighteen plus. How I was still in here was beyond me. I listen for only a few moments as Matthew talks to the girl and I head off into the dancing crowd only to hear his voice in my ear the next moment with a question. "Do you come here a lot?" "Every opportunity, I get." I tell him, but clearly tonight, my agenda was to drink; and heavily. I hadn't meant for it to happen, it just kinda did and now, I was paying the price for it the moment the drunk guy beside me crushes my foot under his weight just a second after I reply to Matthew. My words against his is almost instantaneous not to mention Matt's reflexes. "Oh no, Ky, not now. I don't know if Matthew is trying to protect me or the guy who stepped on my foot, but either way, I stare at his back and turn to the side to look to see where Estella is. My eyes lock on to her instantly when I see her just standing back against the wall, waiting on whatever is going to happen, to happen. I mouth the word 'help' to her with a quizzical look before I hear Matthew tell him to apologize. I turn back to see the guy throw his hands up in defence and sidestep Matt in order to walk nearer to me. I back up hesitantly, but hold my ground. My eyes stare at him with peircing daggers. "You're friend says I should apologize. Perhaps, he's right? Afterall, a doll like you deserves it. Right?" His eyes peer into mine for only a moment before I turn back to Estella with another pleading but sly smile coming to my face. "Might I buy you a drink, my pretty lady?" He offers me then moves in close to my ear, whispering something in my ear and I immediately punch his shoulder as hard as I can. "Jerk!" I shout and turn on my heels quickly. My pace quickens and with haste when I shove my way past a few people. I begin to search for my heels that I've left at one of the entrances and I spot them not more than a few feet away from me in the corner of the dance floor. "Gotcha," I close the distance between me and my shoes fast and bend down to pick them up only to have my vision faulter when I stand up. Once again, I have to hold on to the wall for stability and my head rolls with the effort of staying upright. Once my shoes are in my hands, I let my gaze going to Estella immediately. I go over to her without hesiation. "I gotta get out of here."
