Shay Alexander
She shines in the crowd like the North Star in the sky. Her hair is an exotic red-brown color which she dyed to a Crimson Red at the age of 15. You will usually spot the girl wearing her hair up in a white hair tie in a Pony-Tail or Bun. When she lets it flow, it reaches her shoulders and naturally coils itself. On special occasions she will clip a long peacock tail feather to her hair, to represent immortality and strength, it is a tradition in her family.
Her smile shines, long lasting, she always tends to show her teeth and never hides them away. Her teeth are well-maintained and healthy. Her lips are thin and a coral pink color, at times she will coat her lips in Red lipstick to allow her smile to shine better, she knows how pretty it is.
Her eyes aren't her favorite feature, they aren't noticed by many people. They are small and sometimes squinted
because of her poor eyesight, which makes it hard for people to look at them. When they're opened they're a great hazel color, almost like sand. Her eyelashes are covered in a black mascara that stretches them out accenting her eyes beautifully.
Her usual ensemble is pink, her favorite color, and black. At most times she will wear a pink crop top and black
leggings. She has a wide collection of shoes of all types. Her favorite is her black flats that she wears with most outfits.
Shay only wears loose clothing when she works in the Wine Mill her parents own. She works a few hours a week, helping others squeeze juice from the grapes, but at other times she will just examine the mill standing on a steel platform that leads into the office.
She is a hysterical person! She makes the best out of everything, always turning every situation into some kind of joke. Shay loves to laugh, laughter is her healing process. Without laughter, Shay would not be on this world anymore.
She likes to write stories, creating plots and characters defining their history's and personalities. On the worst days she will grab a sheet of paper and write. Writing is how she expresses her feelings, creating poems and long narratives. Her best pieces are when she writes about herself and how she sees the world. "Light is hidden in everyone and everywhere, you just have to find it."
Shay looks innocent at times, but when someone gets on her nerves she will break that innocence instantly. Shay
knows how to fight because of the many years in training, the weapon she is most custom to are battle swords and axes. She used these weapons during the brutal hours of practice. Sadly, Shay doesn't like training, she was great at it though. Thing is, her parents never pushed her to be the best. They only were strict in education not in training.
Shay looks happy, she tries to, but on the inside Shay is different person, fighting herself.
Her father committed suicide after he killed a man and his family. This was a huge scandal in the District, but after a few years the District began to forget about it. Shay is not known for the girl whose father is a murderer anymore, but Shay still distinctively remembers herself by that name and constantly bugs herself about it.
Shay is gets very embarrassed. The smallest of situations causes her to burn up and blush wildly. The biggest thing she is embarrassed about is her family, her family is hidden to the public, and she wants to keep it that way. Stories and many secrets will make the District turn on her and her family if they're exposed.
Shay was born into the a family of winemakers, some of the best. The wine was brewed from the ripest of grapes scavenged from the family garden patch. Their wine company, or Grapevine Alexander, brought a lot of money to the family which is why Shay could do everything she wanted as a child. At shops Shay would spot something that interested her and she will basically ask her mom to buy it for her, she was spoiled. At a young age Shay showed excellent progress in her education. She excelled to one of the greatest in her class. Her education was cut off when all children were forced to go to training for The Games. Shay wasn't the best at training, her parents never enforced it harshly, but they new if she ever had gotten reaped she will be more experienced. Shay worked a hours a week to a few days a week to 7 days a week. She will do her best, working hard, learning how to hold swords correctly and how to thrash an axe in someone chest. Shay tried her very best, but she still wished to be in school more.
One year, Shay is eight, her father was convicted of killing a family of three. The murder was because of jealousy, her father was hiding envy and greed, it pushed him so far he killed the family. Shay didn't find out what happened until she woke up and saw her father hanging from the wooden banister. He left a note saying...
Dearest Daughter and Wife,
I made a mistake, this is for your own good. You will be better without me, I'm an evil person. I
I love you both with all my heart, but I can't be taken away from you, I can't live like an animal in a cage wanting to see its family again. Don't be sad, you'll see me again one day.
Love Dad.
Shay was speechless. Waking up to see her father dead, hanging from a rope, killed her. She crumbled the note, tearing it in to pieces, then sending it into the fire. "Love Dad? If you loved me you wouldn't have done this." for a few years Shay and her mother lived in darkness, but the District forgot about the incident. Shay still thinks back to that day, but prays she will forget it.
After the death of her father, boss of Alexander Grapevine, the family struggled with supporting the company. The profit was slowly declining and they needed other options. Shay's mother decided to invest most of their savings into the company to keep it standing. Fortunately, this brought in many workers and more containers for the fermentation of the grapes. The money the company brought in was very efficient and Mrs. Alexander gained double the amount she put in to the company.
A few years before today, Shay started writing a Diary with a cowhide journal and a dying pen. This book is what pushes Shay to do her best in everything she does, the book is a way for her to pour out all her feelings and find the serenity hidden in her life. Shay keeps this journal locked up and under her cotton pillow laying on her bed. If somebody was to find it, her secrets and her life will be exposed to everyone.
