Age: 14

Appearance:
If you examined Anne’s family, you’d find that Anne is the skinniest one in the household. Not as skinny as the kids in D12, but skinny enough to warrant teasing, her ribs showing and all. It doesn’t help that she’s short, either, reaching only 4’9”. She has large feet and hands, but has a small chest. As she often says, “Thanks a lot, puberty.”
She tries to make up for her body by attempting to make her hair and face look presentable. Not having enough money to purchase any makeup from the one store that carries makeup in all of D5, she often fails, though. No matter what she does, her dark brown, short hair is still a frizzy mess, acne is all over her heart shaped, olive skinned face, and her self-esteem regarding her appearance is still low. She has thin eyebrows and hazel eyes. She can often be seen sporting khakis and a thin blue blouse.
Personality:
Let’s put it this way: if you asked Anne to be your friend, she’d be your friend- after tackling you to the ground squealing happily. She’s affectionate towards her friends to the point where it’s almost awkward for most. She doesn’t always know what’s acceptable socially, and is a bit immature, but she’s loyal to those she truly feels a connection with. She trusts others more than she trusts herself, which has also led to her low self esteem when she’s alone.
She’s smarter than she lets on, though, and can adapt easily to a situation. She accepts things she cannot change, but if she can change it, you’d better look out. When Anne is committed to something, she strives to achieve it- no matter what the cost to herself, or to others. This has led to several problems in the past, but her impulses just keep coming, and she rolls with them.
Anne is stubborn in what she believes in, and believes in love. She’s a bit of a hopeless romantic, and a dreamer. She treats her parents like strangers, though, no matter how hard they try to welcome her. She could care less about them, except for one. She is also very decisive.
History:
Anne was born in a small neighborhood of D5, the only child of her parents, Baston Teslan and Lynna Teslan. Her mother worked, and still works, as a geologist for D5, while her father practically lives in their basement, devoting his life to studying history, especially focusing on what happened before the Dark Days. Anne’s cold shoulder towards her parents is due to them never seeming to have the time for her. Her parents met in their school years, and bonded over their love of the earth. It’s been a happy relationship ever since, albeit the occasional fight. They need each other socially, mentally, and financially.
Anne grew up peacefully, though, and learned how to manage sitting in an empty house, only occasionally calling her father up from his basement, much to his disgruntlement. And then there was the day she learned about The Hunger Games. She had grown up watching them, of course, but she always watched them with innocence. The day she truly learned about the Games was the day she learned that they weren’t just actors on a morbid show, that the reaping wasn’t a chance of a lifetime, that being Reaped wasn’t a casting call of sorts. She learned that they were real people who were dying when she was 5, when she noticed tears streaming down the faces of the family whose daughter who had been reaped. She understood pain that day, and went to school with a heavy heart the next day.
School had always been sort of difficult, as Anne didn’t entirely understand friendship, at first thinking everyone was a potential friend. She had no siblings to teach her how to properly make friends, and she suffered for that. She kept being cheery, though, choosing to lose herself in her schoolwork when she was lonely.
She made her first friend when she was 8, her companion being a dark skinned, hyper girl named Lorete, a girl of the same age. The two of them were a perfect match, and enjoyed singing offkey and making flower crowns with each other, and generally annoyed everybody else. They met in the butchers shop in the Square, Lorete being the daughter of the butcher. The two have been steady friends ever since. They made a pact that if one of them got reaped, the other would volunteer for them.
Now that Anne is a teenager, she’s become a bit more relaxed, but is worried about the upcoming Hunger Games and the amount of tesserae Lorete has been taking.
