Name: Billygoat "Billy" Horsey
Age: 16
District: 10
(Please ignore his earrings, it is the one of the only decent photos I could find)
Appearance:
My hair is brunette, not to light and not to dark. My hair is always messy because I never have the time in the morning to go brush it, I always have to go care for the livestock that stay in the barn at dawn. If I don't complete my early shift, it probably will end up with me getting punished. I don't know why my parents are so harsh to me at times.
The color of my eyes are a dark brown, which is common in my family. My eyes always ache at random times because of their sensitivity to light. I got this effect from working in the fields and herding the animals in the beaming sun. The pain, that I get at random times, will occasionally give me minor migraines at the most.
Many people think I look old for my age. My height it average for a sixteen year old District 10 boy at 5 foot 11. Maybe it is my body, it is very mature and built. My muscles are naturally large and my shoulders are wide. Many people at school will bother me about going into The Games. I've considered Volunteering, but I have too much at home with my family and that changes my decisions. The only way I am being put in the Hunger Games is if I am chosen from the bowl full of names of all teen boys in the District.
My nose is long and pointy, like most of my family. We all tend to have fairly large noses, like Cowleena, my older sister, and I. Cowleena is probably the only one in my family that I truly resemble. We have the same smile and the same eyes. I am sometimes called the "black sheep" of the family when not compared to her. Most of my siblings have dark hair and dark eyes...I for one am totally different.
My lips are usually curled into a smirk or some kind of scowl. I only smile when I am with my siblings who I love to death. We all love each other no matter what we are going through, we always will be there for each other. When I am with my brothers and sisters I can not frown, we always make each other laugh.
The clothes that you will usually see me wearing is a basic white polo shirt. Some days I will wear a plain T-Shirt. A chain necklace is visible tucked into my shirt. Hanging from the end of the chain is a stainless steel star that I bought at a young age. This star represents family and individuality for me.
Personality:
I am very protective over my friends, but mostly my siblings. When I see my brother or one of my sisters being picked on at school I firmly say a few words to get the bully away from them. I don't want any of y siblings to get hurt.
I try to be the best at being the leader of the pack but it only ends up with me getting laughed at by my older two sisters. They seem to think of me as some kind of joke, but truly it is not a problem between us, we all tend to taunt at each other when having fun.
Yes...I am shy and quiet. I only talk to my family and I only make friends if they are acquainted with my family. People who see me think I am hiding a secret, but truly I am hiding nothing, the only joy I really find is in my family. My family is what gives me strength and happiness.
A few years ago I learned the basics of Guitar. I taught myself after I bought the instrument from a store in town. Playing was easy for me, setting my fingers on the strings and strumming away. I learned how to play chords just by messing around with the finger placement on the strings. My guitar playing gets people to like me at school and that is how I gained the few friends I have, from music.
I won't think of myself as wise, I am not the smartest one in my family. I keep average grades in school, but my sisters always keep the highest. This is the only jealousy I find in my family is through education. I don't know why I am so envious about it, at times I don't even care about school.
When I am not with my family, I am not the same person. My family is what gives me strength and security, without them, I am nothing. If I was to journey out away from the pack I would probably crumble under the stress or become extremely depressed.
History:
My life has been great so far, I am glad to have siblings that love me so much. I was born into a growing family with two older sisters, At a young age I will always be dragged into their room to play dolls with them when I really just wanted to go play in the haystacks. When I was two my parents told me that they were having another baby, I was so excited to have a new baby sister or brother! But that night they came home holding a baby wrapped in pink cloth I was really sad. I always wanted a younger brother to play with in the mud and the hay. Luckily, the next year, my parents told me they were going to have another baby! I wished and prayed every night that it will be a boy, my wish was granted. They came home holding a baby in white cloth announcing that I just got a new baby brother. This made me really excited, finally I could have the playmate I always wanted.
Well, when we were growing older I never got to play with him. We always had different things we wanted to do and never agreed to do the same thing. This really annoyed me and I soon became my sisters, dragging my brother out to go stomp in the damp ground when he never wanted to.
I grew up in a family with little money, we weren't poor, we just couldn't afford everything. Our parents were focused on school and work so they could get the money to provide for us. Well one day when I was ten father gave me money and told me to go buy anything in the shop we were looking around in. I raced around and scavenged an old guitar from under a pile of couch cushions. The price was abnormal because the clerk decided to give it to me for free, he was an old and happy man. I was so excited to get home and learn how to play. I used to sit in the fields near my home tuning the guitar and creating songs.
As I grew acquainted with the instrument I started playing for money in the center of town near my home. Many people didn't want to waste their money on a kid playing a stupid instrument so I never really got anything. But I decided to just start playing for fun and for the enjoyment of the people. This got me a lot of friends at school, some of the only I ever had.
The star necklace that I got a few years ago is what gave me the confidence I have today. I know that this necklace is the only true item that I ever seriously valued, besides my guitar. The five points of the star represent all of his five siblings who he adores. If he was to go to the hunger games, he would bring the necklace, to give him strength, because the only strength he has is in his family.
