Appearance:
Adriana blends easily with the garish crowds of the Capitol. Despite her small stature, just over five feet and thin as a twig, she's hard to look over. For one, her surgically altered body is nearly perfectly proportional. She has thin arms and legs nearly lacking in real muscle, but they look perfectly toned due to a desire to be aesthetically pleasing. Her chest, one of few things not altered in size, has had removable gemstones implanted onto it and her neck. She has curves, but is not exactly "curvy".
Adriana's skin is often referred to as sun kissed, of course that's often said by herself. She's spent some amount of time tanning it. It's flawless, of course, unmarred by freckles or pimples that would suggest her young age. Her face is thin and comes to a small point at her chin. Her nose is small and straight; it has a small, silver piercing on the right nostril. Her lips are naturally their thick size, and are usually painted over with a hot pink lipstick. Adriana's eyes are a warm brown. They're surrounded by a contrasting silver eyeliner and eye makeup that shines brightly where the light touches it. Her eyelashes are unnaturally long, like thin black fingers.
Adriana's hair is as pink as her personality. It's long and soft and shiny, perfected with hair products and artificial dyes. Her natural hair color is a rather mousy of brown, though there was a time when she remembered an auburn tint to it. It falls to her shoulders, although her extensions, which are the exact same shade of pink, can make it fall to her knees. She uses these extensions for her elaborate hairdos. Adriana's been known to incorporate flowers, large bows, hats, and other assorted accessories into these styles.
Adriana's clothes are the picture of wealth. She wears expensive fabrics with floral designs, all ranging from a shiny green to a vibrant purple. Her clothing is straight off the runway, full of flair and personality. She wears things ranging from an authentic bag from one of the districts to a silken gown designed by some famous man of the Capitol. She decorates her hair with diamonds that are shaped into snowflakes, teardrop crystals, and silver makeup. As with any other woman in the Capitol, appearances are very important to her.
Personality:
Adriana is perpetually chipper. Of course, that's all hidden under layers and layers of self-consciousness and a terribly shy exterior. She keeps to herself and usually has her head in a book (a nice, non-rebellious story that's been Capitol approved). She always seems attentive, is always quick to answer a question or respond to someone. In short, she seems to be the most well-behaved student, the quiet daughter. Her friends see past her mute exterior and recognize the introverted partier.
Around Adriana's friends, she just won't shut up. Whether it's about the latest article she read, some new fashion trend, or life in the Districts, Adriana can go on and on for hours without stopping. Her friends have to interject their own thoughts on matters quickly before she moves on to a completely different subject. While she is a generally sweet person, years of Capitol arrogance have rubbed off on her. She assumes that she, and the Capitol in general, is always right, and that she will get respect wherever she goes. She's stubborn as a mule, as the saying goes, and isn't afraid to show it to those who know her. She's incredibly difficult to sway.
Adriana's love of fashion and the arts has inspired her interest in the districts. She always wonders about the people in District Eight, their lives as they make the fabric for her beautiful outfits. She thinks about the people of District Three who make the technology that powers the Capitol. She's studied informative videos, news articles, and has read many blogs about the life in each of the districts. Since, she's become enthralled about history, studying how the districts came to be as they are, and more than anything she would love to visit each of them.
Adriana is quick to judge. She will look a person over and decide who they are in just a moment. She's even more judgmental of her peers. Despite the fact that she's known them for years, she's never changed her mind on very many of them past her initial judgments. She can be harsh and cruel if prodded by people she doesn't know, and is blunt to those she does.
Adriana is a bit squeamish. Any mention of blood, violence, or anything deemed "icky" makes her skin crawl. Anything sexual makes her blush and want to crawl away. Her reactions range from bursting out laughing to staring wide eyed at the person who said something sexual. Even though she lives in one of the sexually ambiguous places in all of Panem, she is almost a completely innocent person.
History:
Heather Vivian and Osric Taffeta met at a party. They spent the whole night like a scene from a romantic movie, kissing on the balcony with the cool dew falling around them, a reluctant parting the following morning. Heather and Osric fell in love in the moment they had met, and their feelings never faltered from then on. They were married that summer in a fantastic wedding, complete with dazzling color-changing lanterns strewn around a large ballroom. Heather wore a big white dress with a gorgeous, long veil, which changed color along with her lanterns. The whole party was specifically tailored so that she would not have to choose between any of her favorite colors. Their families bawled and sent them off with blessings of a happy future and many years to come. Harlow Taffeta was born three years later. Elysia, Ophelia, and Horatio were next. By the time Harlow was seven, Adriana was finally born.
Adriana was incredibly blessed to be born in the Capitol. She never went hungry, she never wanted for anything. She spent her childhood playing carefree with her siblings. Of course she never knew as much. She was never educated about the trials faced in the districts. As she grew and thirsted for adventure, she found it in her books; she found new and exciting places in the stories she read. She realized that the people and lives she read about were infinitely more interesting than her own life and her own family. She desired travel more than anything. Of course, living in a dictatorship government, travel is harder than one would think.
When Adriana was ten years old, she decided she would set out on her own adventures. She packed a whole suitcase full of her clothes and tools she would need to survive on her own. She was halfway down her street when she remembered her books. She came back and accidentally fell asleep on her bed, reading. She would attempt to go adventuring three more times before her twelfth birthday.
When Adriana did turn twelve, she got her first big history book. She spent hours reading it, even during her own party. She read through her cake and as her friends went home. History was completely fascinating to her, and as she read about the history of Panem, she fell in love with it. Though her books had scarce information on the current situation of the districts, they had wonderful stories about Panem before the Rebellion and when it was still called North America.
Adriana, while always an independent girl, became much more so as she grew into her mid to late teens. Her parents didn't worry much when she was getting home later and later. Panem was such a safe country, wasn't it? And especially the Capitol. She lived within walking distance of Style Street, which was always abright with lovely colors and glittery fashions. She and her friends would walk up and down the street, splurging their money on the gowns and accessories they couldn't live without.
Adriana was sort of an outcast, but she never felt very alone. Her family, and small collection of friends, stood by her despite her oddities. Of course, her sisters always teased her about her interests, especially Harlow. In good nature, despite the hurtful nature that upset Adriana. In time, the squabbling ended between the two. Harlow and Elysia grew into their late twenties and early thirties, and began starting their own families and children. Adriana's interests were no longer of concern to them.
Adriana graduated as one of the top of her class. She was admitted to a university of the Capitol, where she began majoring in history. Unfortunately, she found that it wasn't as challenging or fulfilling as she'd expected. She had hoped that being older, the Capitol's education would tell her everything about Panem's geography and history. It was no more than all the studying she'd done as a teenage girl. So she left the school to think of what she wanted to do now.
