Name: Garo Valax Fonteyne
Age: 23
Gender: Male
District/Area: Capitol
Appearance:
Garo is tall. At 6'4, his height helps him stands out among the other citizens of the Capitol. Standing out is the key to everything among his friends but Garo tends to show more disinterest despite occasionally attempting to out do them. He tries to fit in but then doesn't everyone? He does this because he's expected to but he feigns that disinterest because he doesn't want to appear to be like the rest of them.
He acts as though his looks and sense of style comes naturally to him with no effort or care taken but that is just an act. Everything is a decision. Everything from the extra layer of lace to the way he sits in his chair is a careful decision made to stand out in a crowd of uniqueness. To Garo, when everyone looks unique, the only way to stand out is to act unique. Behaviour over appearance is what drives that feigned disinterest.
Garo's hair is his pride and joy. While others may have to turn to synthetic hair soaked in layers of dyes and bleach to reach perfection, Garo's hair is all his own. It is long, wavy and the colour is a naturally brilliant deep red. It makes him unique and he would be utterly devastated if anything were to happen to it.
His complexion is pale but often covered with the usual coat of makeup. The only time he is ever without it, is when he's at home with no one to judge him or care what he looks like. His eyes are a soft green that seems to almost fade into a duller shade when something upsets him. That sparkle of contenment, rarely finds its way back anymore. (Pb: Bartek Borowiec)
Personality:
Like most others, there are many sides to Garo Fonteyne. There is the rebel. The boy that hated being told no and went against everything out of spite. He rebels by dressing down but even then, he does stand out. He rebels by feigning disinterest in fahsion and the games and everything else but this like other parts of his persona are only an act.
The truth is, he enjoys the games as much as anyone else in the capital. He has his favourites and he will support them until their death or until they win which is rare considering he never shows much interest in the careers. Garo tends to prefer the tributes that aren't very likely to win but occasionally, he does get over it quickly to find a new favourite if they die too soon.
Garo enjoys being social but still prefers to seem as though he is above it all. He feels as though he has a lot to prove and the only time he is ever truly himself is when he's absolutely alone. Unfortunately for him, that is the one thing he hates most. He can not stand to be alone, the boredom alone would be enough to set off the dramatic overreaction to solitude.
History:
Garo grew up with everything he could possibly want. He was the oldest child of amity Kratos and Amity Fonteyne. His younger brother was born when Garo was around six or seven years old. Xaphan looked up to his brother but Garo kept his distance. Often ignoring his little brother to spent time with his friends instead.
Garo had a myriad of friends come and go and he never cared to make them stay. Life in the Capitol was made up of shiny outfits, bright lights and fleeting moments. It was never meant to be anything more than that as far as Garo was concerned.
He did enjoy his life in the beginning but things often come to an end. For him it was sooner than later. He started to despise the rivalry and the constant need for attention. He had prescribed to that life for so long but now it was starting to grate at his nerves and Garo could not for the life of him figure out why.
By the age of twenty-one. Garo began to hate his life. He had loved it for so long but everything just seemed so superficial. He was so convinced that there was something more to life that all of the glamour and fashion and games and luxuries of life. He enjoyed it but he needed more. The only problem was that he could not think of what that might be.
He had everything that he could possibly want. All the parties and fancy dinners but the crowds of people, the music and laughter just didn't seem to do it for him anymore. It wasn't enough and even the games (although he still enjoyed them) just wasn't enough. He pulled away for some months keeping to himself, unable to figure out what it was that bothered him about life in the Capitol. It was perfect but something just wasn't quite right.
In the next two years, he lived his life, occasional throwing in a genuine smile here and there but even those were few and far between. Most of the time it was a smirk or a snide look at something that just wasn't good enough. He judges things harshly but others have come to expect the high standards he holds but even Garo can't reach, let alone exceed them.
