Sick and tired of laying around //Cameo(Gala)

"One more day, Kyanite. Just one more day. Got it? It's not going to kill you." Jeran says from the doorway of my bedroom as I cuddle up to the many blankets that cover my body. Apparently, the other day when I walked the thirty minutes home and the time that I lingered out on the porch until my brother found me was enough to give me this nasty headcold. I hate being sick. I'm rarely ever sick and staying in bed sucks! I groan out to what he's claiming. "If you can last a little longer, I'll release you of being bedbound. You've not had a fever since last night. So, we'll see."

That's all I need. On top of breaking up with Matthew, being sick is just icing on the cake for me. At least I don't have to worry about seeing him out and about. Though, I do wonder how he is... without me. The thought of Matthew enjoying his new life without me is daunting. I don't want to think about it, so as I sneeze yet again, I lay my head down back on the pillow and fall into a nightmared sleep.

The last time that I remember that I was awake, was just around eight this morning. When I wake from this small nap, It reads just after noon. I sigh. I'm sore from laying in bed for so long, and I get up from the bed, pulling the many comforters off my body and touch my feet to the ground. What a wonderful way to spend a day off from school. STuck in bed.

"Damnit.." I groan out when I realize how weak this stupid headcold has made me from laying in bed for two days. I go straight to my closet and grab a change of clothes, not caring to shower and instead, braid my hair onto my side and let it drape over my shoulder. A minute later, I hear the knock on my door.

"Kyanite. Are you hungry?" His voice comes out gently and the moment I'm decent, he opens the door seeing me dressed and apparently getting ready to leave. He immediately gives me this harsh glare, folding up his arms in front of him, with his feet spead evenly apart. Right now, I would cower from this look if it was dad, but the last two days, he had became my caretaker. I give him the same exact stare back.

"I'm going out. I need to see my friend. I need to... talk to her." I lower my head and reach for my shoes and slip them on. My brother laughs yet again at me.

"Stubborn girl. You get out in this weather, your headcold will only get worse. You ain't walking anywhere." He demands and points to my bed again. I deny the offer and instead reach for my heavy coat out of my closet.

"Then drive me to Gala's house? I can't stand this. I need to talk to someone. She's the only one that will understand." I tell him and see the look of fake hurt on his face.

"You can't talk to me? I know when we were growing up, Dad made it apparent that what happens in our own lives is to be kept that way, but lately... you just seem to be different. I don't know what it is, but despite what dad says, you can talk to me if you really want to." I shake my head. He's the last person I want to talk about Matthew to. Gala is the only one that I want to tell. The only one that I want knowing what happened between us cause it effects her too.

"Sorry, Jeran." He nods and comes nearer to me for one second and slaps his arm around my shoulder. He doesn't seem to want to fight to get me back in bed. Instead, he begins pulling to the door frame of my room then stays beside me down the stairs.

"Get in the truck. I'll take you. Be right there." He says and I do what he says. For once, he is actualy acting like the brother I'd always wanted. Why though? He never seemed to care before? At least, not since mom died.

The drive over to Gala's place was short, yet quiet. The hole time, my eyes seems to grow heavy for the need to sleep more, but I keep moving to keep the blood flowing and to keep me awake. It's only until we reach the circus tents, does he speak up yet again.

"You call me when you want to come home. I don't want you walking. You hear?" I nod and open the door to the truck and hug the coat closer to my body. It's freezing outside as I make my way to the house and the moment I get to the door, I hesitate to knock. I"m not sure if she'll be home, but with the injuries she has, she might be. With all the hope in the world, I knock on the door several times with the hard part of my cast. Oh, please Gala... be home. Please be home. I need to talk to you! A shiver racks my body the moment another sneeze makes me flinch away from the door. A car horn honks behind me and I see my brother edging his way away from the house. I give him a subtle wave and knock on the door once more. Maybe she went to school after all?

I turn away from the door and start walking back to the truck.

The worst thing about being broken is the process of healing. As soon as Gala broke her foot and rib she should of stayed calm, but instead grabbed the first opportunity at a second chance. Now she suffers from three broken bones and a lung, doesn't seem fair when she never even reached a battle with weapons. Yet she stays crippled in bed as her sisters keep a sharp eye on the lying little one. She managed to get to all of the matches with her friends, and now her sisters are determined to keep her off of her feet and away from the career gym.

"I promise to stay home all day!" Gala begs as she hides herself under the covers. "Don't make me go to school!" It was bad enough be grounded, but they also want to force her to go to school? "I can't make the distances." She complains, having two good excuses to be staying in bed all day. Not only was one of her feet wrapped within a cast, but even a long walk makes her heaving for air. Usually one of her sisters would ditch school to make sure she wasn't getting into more trouble, but now they were all sick of the responsibility.

"Fine." The oldest mumbles from the doorway of the twins' tiny room. "We'll be home right after school, and I swear you won't see the sun for years if we catch you off this property!" She threatens with anger as if Gala had just returned from fighting in the pregames. It's been a good while, but still they're upset over her actions.

"Screw you Bluebell!" Gala has to intentions of escaping, still her older sister's words are annoying as ever. A slammed door and many footsteps heading out indicates she's finally alone. She sighs heavily as she curls up for more sleep.

A loud couple of knocks awakes the young career that wants nothing more then to slumber as long as possible. Was her sisters home already? No one comes around with knowledge that all the sisters go to school. Curiosity makes Gala stir until she has to energy to pull herself out of bed. By now she no longer needs a crutch but is able to wobble around with her casted foot. It still takes her longer then usual to reach the front door though.

"Kyanite!" Gala screams as her eyes hardly make out her familiar friend treading away through the snow. Where was she going? Without a second thought she sprints after her as fast as her crippled body allows. She wraps her only good, scrawny, short arm around her older friend. There's nothing else she could ask for except for a visit from her trainer as well. "Don't go!" She begs with a giggle as she does her best to give a hug. "You just got here!"

Broken hearted and now friendless, I begin my trek back to the truck as I see the taillights light up and that tells me that Jeran has seen that no one came to the door to let me in. That my friend wasn't there and I would be going back home and being stuffed back into bed and treated like a kid again by my brother. Before I even reach the truck, I hear my name being shout out and I turn quickly to see Gala coming to me as fast as she can, hobble and all. Although, it does nothing for me emotion other than making me want to cry again cause I know what I came to her to talk about. I knew what I was about to tell her was going to effect the way she treats me and how she'll treat Matthew. Though, whose side is she going to take? Whose side will she run to? Will she hate me for being mad at him? Will she take my side for what he did?

"Gala..." I say her name lightly when she gives me this physical contact and I feel the tears starting to come. I feel the liquid pooling already. I blink and hug her with both my arms, my casted hand unable to 'wrap' around her and just kinda is there against her back. It's the first time before I realize how much shorter she is than me. "Gala... I need someone... I need to talk to you."

I know my voice is anything but joyful right now, and I can even hear the wavering in my own tone as I pull away from Gala's embrace. I turn to face my brother in the truck, see his eyes through the rear-view mirror, and nod him off. He takes a few seconds before pulling into the road and hitting the gas, taking off down the street. I turn back to Gala, frowning. I'm not sure whether or not to tell her straight up what I'm here for or to wait. I figure being straight forward is best, so with a saddened heart and more tears forming the very moment I open my mouth, I let her know.

"Matthew... " I halt at the name because it sends a peircing arrow through my heart to be admitting the most horrible moment in my life. "and I broke up." That's it. The damn busted and I let the tears fall from my eyes without trying to hold them back. I immediatly bring my hands up and turning away from Gala to hide my horrible features. A cold, chilling wind pulls at my hair, freezing my wet cheeks. I came here to talk to Gala. Not cry on her front lawn. She must think I'm some dumb idiot for crying over a guy.

The last thing Gala's expecting is for a sad Kyanite. Of course an embrace returns from the older career, but even without getting a good look at her face Gala can tell something's wrong. Yes, Matthew's upset over losing the last battle, but was it effecting her this much? Either way Gala gives the best hug back as she's capable, and attempts eye contact as they separate. Water floods Kya's eyes, and it appears that old tears already stain her cheeks. Gala couldn't be certain though. What she was positive of was that her friend was not happy, her job sets in.

"Matthew..." Kyanite pauses and Gala's worries something has happened to her trainer. Did he get worse? She did help with detaching his cast, did his finger fall off as a result? The last thing she wants to hear escapes Kya's lips. "and I broke up." What? This couldn't be happening. What could cause such a thing? Immediately she can feel her heart sink at the news. The only friends she has are now fighting, she can't lose either of them.

Without a word Gala takes Kyanite's hand, with her only good hand, and guides her inside. The cast leaves no protection to her foot and she can feel the snow freezing her toes. A broken foot's enough, she doesn't want to lose her toes as well. She closes the door behind her, extremely grateful to skip school today and have all her sisters absent from the home. "The circus tent's a lot bigger." She explains the petite house. The one joy of her parents being gone is that it's now only two kid per room.

For some reason the twin's are looked at as one person, and there for they received the smallest room. Until the other's arrived Gala was going to keep it to the living room. The tent's an option with the biggest space of them all. All that can be considered later though. "What happened?" Gala asks as she takes a seat on the sofa and pats the spot next to her. This is what friends are suppose to do, right? "Oh! Are you hungry? Uh, thirsty?" She never had a guest before but did watch when her sisters had friends over.

I break the news to Gala with a drop of the hat. No time to prep her because I'm sure she can see the way my face looks. My eyes hadn't found their luster in days since we broke up and I got sick. Between the two, I just wanted to die. I wanted to disappear from the face of the earth and just wither away by myself, but instead, I find myself at her doorstep begging for comfort. I could see the look of complete confusion when I told her that we broke up. Is she going to blame me? Will she start spouting off reasons of why it was going to happen? No. She quietly takes my hand and I turn around to her as she begins to lead me back to her house and into the warmth that is very dominate in there. The feeling is nice, but like the other day, what I wouldn't give to let the cold soak into my bones and chill me to absolute numbness again.

Inside, Gala mentions that the circus tents much bigger, but what do I care? We could be standing in a closet and I wouldn't complain. Not now. There's enough emptiness in my heart that I wouldn't take up that much space. "I'm sorry.. I did'nt mean to come here to cry... I just... I don't know what to do." I feel embarressed about this for some reason. I'm not sure if I broke up with Matthew or he broke up with me. We both apparently decided to go our own seperate ways, even though I'm the one who ran off. He never even attempted to follow. Never heard anything except the furious pounding in my ears the whole way home that day. Four days later, I'm in no better shape. Just terribly ill from sitting outside soaking wet from the snow that melted on me.

Gala's quick to offer up the couch seat next to her and I take it reluctantly at first, hesitating in my footing, then slowly sitting down. I draw my hands up to my face, covering my eyes for a minute before a sneeze takes over. I draw in a breath and groan slightly when Gala asks what happened and asked out of common courtesy, if I wanted anything to drink or eat. I shake my head.

"I... we broke up. I went to go find him at the hospital earlier and he was gone. I was only going to talk to him. To find out why he didn't want me around. I thought after two days, he'd change his mind.

"So, I went to his dad's work to see if he'd picked him up, but his father had forgotten about him. I ran off to go find him. I ran forever. I was scared for him, Gala. Off wandering around outside in the cold, you know? I could have only expected the worse. He could have fallen somewhere. Passed out? There was so many things going through my head. But when I found him, he was so cold. Shivering. Gala, I was never happier in my life just to see him okay. Even after the pregames ended. I was just scared. I stayed up with him all night when I told you to go home and get sleep, only to get shoo'd away the next day when he finally woke up. Why, does he hate me? Why... would he push me away when I did nothing but try to help him?" My body becomes racked with sobs for minutes at a time. What I confessed was nothing what she asked for. It was only what lead up to what happened next. So, I continue.

"His father showed up and picked us up. He wasted no time at all, asking what I was doing there. Just like at the hospital. In that tone... in that way that said he didn't want me around. I asked him if he wanted me in his life. He told me 'no'. He told me no, Gala. He didn't want me in his life anymore. I was nothing to him. Just some 'chick' probably. Someone to hang on to his arm every once in a while when he felt like it. Ashamed to admit to anyone that we were together. I should have known then. I wasn't worth it but like some stupid idiot... I fell for him."

In Gala's eyes her only two friends are the most powerful careers of them all, for some odd reason Kyanite's upset though. With lack of friends the youngster's unsure of how to respond but does the best she's capable of. Warmth, lack of judgement, she'd give a laugh but she knows it's not the time. For some reason Kyanite apologizes, and Gala's sure the glisten of tears in the older one's eyes are there. She claims she didn't come here to cry, and that she doesn't know what to do. Even without experience in any sort of way the little one feels sympathy some how, maybe just because she cares so much Kya it's painful to see her hurt. Though the clue that it's something to do with Matthew makes it more then that. That's her trainer, and Kya's lover.

No matter what she offers comfort though, as long as she could she'll keep both of them. Hopefully they won't make her pick a side. Knowing what exactly happened would help greatly though. After slight hesitation Kyanite takes a seat and begins telling her side. No one's ever opened up to the young career due to her lack of ever being serious because of her constant sarcasm. For the first time ever Kyanite spills her feelings to Gala though, something unexpected yet very nice. She stays quiet and listens to the scrambled words. First that Kya found him in the cold? And how happy she was. But then she goes back to after the pregames, right when Matthew was put into the hospital. Confusion takes over, but Gala does her best to understand.

When Gala was able to visit Matthew at the hospital he was disappointed with his reaction to Kyanite. He actually admitted to his mistake in pushing her away because he only felt pity from her. In the long run he regretted it though, wanted her by his side. At least that's what Gala interpreted. The first time with friends and she finds herself facing more drama then ever. Her only worry was losing them though, hoping her words weren't going to effect such a thing. Was she suppose to get them back together? Or stay on both of there sides? She continues listening.

Then Kyanite returns back to when Matthew's father picked them both up. The rest Gala's unable to understand. When she went to see her trainer at the hospital he actually admitted to wanting Kyanite there. Yet now he didn't want her in his life? The little one was unsure how to respond, feeling as though there's more to this story. "Are you sure?" Gala's voice sounds concerned for a change, and for once she has no jokes to lighten the mood.

"I went to visit him at the hospital, but he seemed to want you there." Gala was unsure how to word it, she's never had practice with helping or comforting a friend. "You guys are perfect for each other..." She says softly, in her eyes her only two friends are meant to be together. That night after Matthew's first victory, when they admitted to being together, was the best night Gala can remember. She didn't want to lose that.

"Are you sure?"

I nod to her, telling her that I wasn't making this up at all. MAtthew literally had done the ultimate deed against me. He had told me that he'd want me not as a friend. IN my books, that's just the same as saying 'girlfriend', friend or anything more or less than that. That's the thing. He just didn't want me in his life. He wanted to win so bad and in the end, he finally won.

"He has a funny way of showing it Gala. If he could have walked, he would have been shoving me out." Then as if it couldn't get worse, Gala tries to comfort me as best as she can, but she cant know that what she just said was probably the worst thing to have been said.

"You guys are perfect for each other..."

If only that was the case. We are perfect alright. Perfectly wrong for each other. He want's nothing more than to win. What we want, is totally different.

"Gala... I wish you were right. I just want him back..." I find myself bending over, my face in my hands as I feel the tears falling gracefully down into my palms. My body seemingly racked with sobs and chills and not knowing from which they come from.

[Cameo {RIP Charlie}]

For some reason Gala feels an obligation to being the light of the group. While her only two friends are down in the dumps, her only concern is helping them. An odd goal to have on account it's practically her first set of true friends. This is what real friendship is though, right? Being the youngest, and seeing neither of them are taking the role, she has to keep everyone together and happy to the best of her ability. The last time she talked to Matthew within the hospital completely slips her mind while trying to comfort Kyanite. It returns with the failure to make everything better.

Exactly how Matthew booted Kyanite from his company, he did to the little trainee. Seeing Kya visiting her, walking through the snow with disappointment of the little career not being home, erased any bad memories that they aren't all as close as always. But he even told her to find a better trainer, of course she's wiped that out of her brain with her attempt to be the light. It's true now though, it really is. If he's getting rid of Kyanite as his girlfriend, then he really is scratching away his trainee as well. She didn't want to think so, pretend that it's all out of anger...it's not though. She forces a weak smile upon her face even if it's not the right time, the idea of losing her only friends is actually effecting her ability to be the happy one.

She's seen weak Kyanite before, losing her battle and being crippled to a hospital bed. The fight between the two older careers had begun then, and Gala didn't even ask but stayed the night with her despite her hatred for the place. Now though is different, as tears take over the older female, her desire of only wanting Matthew back being vocalized. Is this what relationships are like? Because if so Gala notes in her head to stay clear of them no matter what age. Seeing her friend this hurt doesn't seem worth it.

"I'm sorry." Gala's completely unsure what to say or even do. She stares blankly for a second. When one of her sisters are upset, there's another to comfort them, so she only able to go off watching. She was never the one in tears, nor the one hugging them and saying it's all going to be okay. The joys of being the outcast of the family. Still the need, or maybe instinct, tells her to wrap her arms around Kyanite and give a light squeeze, holding the position with hopes it may help.
