I'm leaving District 10, never to return. Heading to the games of survival and off to the gates of hell. "We'll miss you," my parents told me when they came to visit in the justice building. "I"m only going to die and have some really long and extreme bonding time with the devil." Mother shoot me a glare as my father covered up his chuckle with a cough. Lately my jokes have been..well a joke but with some truth to it. I really need to stop making jokes that were made for the incinerator.
My younger siblings told me to come back for them, or at least try. As the oldest, I felt it was my duty to promise that I will try. I hated giving them false hope, guilt still makes its home inside of me. The truth is, I didn't want to come home, having night terrors, having to go on the victory tour and having nothing to come back to except a broken family and money. Sure, the money would help support my family but I don't want to be so poor that all I have is money. I couldn't stand living with myself like that.
I want to die, I really do. But I don't want to be a failure, I want to be strong when really I'm just barely holding on. It's like I'm holding on my a thread, and that thread is twisted, it's been like this for far to long. I'm fighting this waging war inside of me. Which side will win is only half a mystery.
I take one last look at District 10, soaking the scene into my brain. This is the last time I will ever see it. I touch the cold glass, the window of the train is the only thing separating me from my home.
"Goodbye."
