Name: Castiel Venetian
Age:17
Gender:male
District/Area:3
Appearance: Measuring Castiel at full height is difficult since the majority of the time he’s leaning up against something when he’s addressing you. In the corner he looks about 5’8, and when sitting down he flops sideways so it’s all but impossible to get a read on his build. Only when he jolts up to move does his 5’11, 155 build slide into focus. When his name’s called, Castiel snaps his head around and doesn’t hide that he’s analyzing the source of the voice. Shallow, light brown eyes that seem as they’re masking the real person behind them firmly probe whatever is chosen, but that look is quickly hidden and shrugged off as fast as Castiel can manage to move on. All of this body language adds up to Castiel coming off as a smug and haughty in first impressions. That isn’t helped by the fact that he does have striking features, with all dark features such as heavy brows, dark smoky hair that’s a medium length, semi pointed ears, big lips, and a narrow face that helps all of it stick out. When Castiel’s having a conversation, he doesn’t hold eye contact, his eyes always wander around the room or stare into space when he’s describing something, like he’s watching it develop as he talks his way through the situation.
Castiel would be fit and slim if his body hadn’t lived it’s whole life underfed and in the smog, but his dedication to running has caused him to be even more gaunt than the average D3 urbanite. With no shirt Castiel’s torso is pale and flecks of gray are noticeably scattered across his skin, as in the smog had soaked the soot into his flesh. Every crack in his hands was lined with black that no amount of hand washing would ever remove. His breathing occasionally croaks but it’s district 3, that happens to everyone, but what doesn't happen to everyone is to have the look of absolute disgust flick across there face when it happens. Castiel’s whole face shrivels up, he bites his lip, balls his fists, and his walk turns from a lazy strut to a stomp that reeks of purpose. This is just one of those pointers where it becomes apparent that Castiel, despite every part of his appearance belonging to an average District 3 citizen, just doesn’t fit in, he never seems comfortable even though he tries so hard to make it seem that way. Castiel just doesn’t appear to be focused on this life and he has a tendency to just disappear occasionally.
Personality:
"Thursday’s child has far to go"
Castiel can learned to be quiet and humble from his days of being teased and bullied, but all of his new found confidence has given him a surge of confidence that fuels his quietly arrogant attitude. Castiel doesn’t talk much, but when he is dragged into an argument he sounds venomous and overly aggressive. He’s very much a loner, but for being such a solo act he’s a surprisingly gifted speaker. He’s sweet talked himself out of plenty of sticky situations, but still he relishes being taken seriously so he tries not to vocalize too often.
Castiel is a little lonely, he’d never admit it, but he wants to share his dreams of a better, different, and far away world with someone else. He hasn’t felt close camaraderie since his chimney sweep days, and a teenager’s only friend shouldn’t be his parents. Yet it’s going to be hard for Castiel to get along with new people, forming a relationship with a person is difficult when one person’s mind is another place, and whenever he returns to the real world he bristles and gets prickly, retorting with short, smart ass answers. Castiel’s ambitions are limitless, and his restlessness could either make him or break him.
History: Castiel has stable parents; they love each other and share a stable home. They even make decent wages, his father is a mechanic, he can fix just about anything with gears. His mother works on the assembly lines working a very average D3 job. All of them can afford 2 meals a day, and on Sunday they try to have a nice meal, Castiel can afford to get new clothes when they tear, but it’s a delicate balance, things are good right now, everyone in the family knows it won’t be like that forever. Castiel has always tried to do his part to bring in some extra cash for the family, it’s a tension point with his parents that he skips school to look for little odd jobs, they also hate that he takes out tesserae. But Castiel saw what it was like to work early on as a child, when he was 8 his parents were approached about putting Castiel in a program that would see the him match his father’s salary. Little did they know they were signing Castiel up to be an old fashioned chimney sweep.
Castiel joined at the same time as eight other kids his age, he was one of 5 that survived to grow out of being able to do the job after 4 hard years. 3 of the others fell to their death, and one poor kid was vaporized when the engine beneath him fired up some excess steam that it never excreted. Castiel’s parents were mortified when they heard the job their child was performing, but those in charge were thugs, and they threatened all of their lives if they pulled Castile out of the job. All mental scarring came from this childhood nightmare, and it left Castiel with the nastiest cough, one that made even the most seasoned smogheads in D3 cringe.
Castiel never felt the same again, and became determined to move on from D3. It became so hard for him to adjust going back to school. For years Castiel was just seen as another sickly kid, a target to be picked on. Even though he excelled, Castiel hated school, and by the time he was 13 he started to skip school and just walk around the district. He loved to explore, and he always found something new even though D3 is a condensed district. Eventually, the walking turned into running, and Castiel found his new love.
When Castiel’s 17th birthday came around the cough that haunted him for years had been minimized, running miles on miles on miles every week had opened up his lungs, and had helped him hack up all sorts of black gunk. His stamina and speed kept improving, and the progress further motivated him. Now Castiel dreams of running right of D3, and finding a better life.

Other: I know the personality is short but I kind of figured I’d add on as a I played with him. He's based on Thursday, the name Castiel is latin for angel of Thursday. Excite to be back on this site after a long break.
