History
The story of the Umbra family is short, the family is small; everything they are today is because of one man, an ambitious man called Dominic. As a child, Dominic spent most of his time at home with one of his parents, quietly listening while they whispered about the tyranny of the Capitol. This combined with Dominic's intelligence meant that when it was time for the propaganda to be poured into his head, he could see the truth. This truth that he found from an early age is that the Capitol controls the weak; his mother and father were weak so he must be strong. After this he loathed his common parents for their pathetic dislike/obedience to the Capitol.
As a teenager Dominic developed an acute paranoia of being reaped so spent every second he was not studying working on his skills with his mother's kitchen knife. Rationality soon became important to Dominic and his fears were subdued, but still he practiced for the thrill of holding life in his hands. At the end of his teenage years Dominic had become an expert in the theory of running a business. He got a job working for his new girlfriends father who owned a wealthy mining company. Dominic knew that relationships are unstable, at the age of 20 he gave Tara a daughter to keep the relationship alive while he enacted his pan to get control of the business.
Tara's father had been unwell for years, when he died Tara was the rightful heir to the position of chairman, however Dominic saw his chance and persuaded his lover to let him lead for the benefit of everyone. His rank and death threats allowed Dominic to disband the board who ran this company; this placed him as the single owner of the entire company. Tara had served her purpose, so was disposed of and left with nothing but her clothes and a loaf of bread. Now wealthy and powerful he took complete control of his daughter by separating her connection with her mother. He has not been in contact with his parents since he left.
Appearance
Dominic has a fair skin colour that is prone to slightly tanning in the sun. His hair is dark brown, medium length and naturally quite curly however it is often combed straight. His face is quite narrow with pronounced facial bone structure. His facial hair is usually in the form of stubble however he will shave before important events/meetings. He is healthy, taking a small period of time everyday to exercise resulting in a healthy; moderately strong body.
Dominic always wears a shirt, these vary in colour but are usually darker toned. His favourite casual attire is an un-tucked dark coloured shirt with an unbuttoned black suit jacket, cuffs usually folded up. This is combined with dark blue/black jeans and simple brown shoes. For formal occasions he will wear typical black dinner suit, while doing business he will wear a variety of different coloured/designed three piece suits.
Personality
Ruthless would be selling him short. When it comes to it Dominic is a borderline sociopath not remotely caring about ethical procedures or those he may hurt. He is stubborn when it comes to business and will not settle. Manipulation is his most used method of getting what he wants, if that does not work the bribery, then intimidation. Either way he gets what he sets out to do. He doesn't oppose the capitol and actually agrees with some of the things they do, including the games as it provides entertainment and keeps the lower classes in line. Although he has a short temper he is always calculative, taking the odds, weighing them and looking at the risks. This can lead to problems as he will not act unless he is convinced he can't lose.
He has developed some addictive tendencies such as; smoking, practicing with his knife and even gambling as long as the stakes are low or he is confident enough he will win. Due to his average body build he is not very strong so focuses on his mastered knife techniques to fight, however he prefers to avoid fighting when he can or simply hiring others to do it for him. His primary ambition is to simply make money, live well and have superiority over the lower classes in his district. At first glance he will seem nice and if shown respect he will stay that way, disrespect him however and he is quickly enraged. Because of this his friends are mostly his business partners as most people remember what he did to Tara, his lover for years.
Although his daughter was originally a tool he has developed a protective bond with her; controlling who she sees in order to keep his control over her but there are some elements of love coming through. He likes to be well informed and will frequently inquire about the local news. He is very fond of classical music and will unwind with a cigar while listening. He greatly dislikes the arrogance of youths; firmly believing that experience will surpass any natural "skill". His favourite colour is red as shown through his abundance of red casual shirts.
