LUCIFERBLACKMORE

It had been years since I had seen them, any of them. At the reapings I had watched countless other children be reaped and sent of in the search of glory- but never had I seen one of my own. Something told me to be happy, to be happy that my own blood wasn't being sent off to die. But I didn't feel happy, I felt almost disappointed. My kind purged this district, they were monsters, a spices that needed to exterminated…. But there was so many of them now, and I was sure that they grew stronger everyday. My own blood growing into monsters who took pleasure in activities that should make them feel sick, which should make them have nightmares, not dreams worth remembering- fantasies.

Now my feet carried my down a path that seemed familiar but yet so odd. How long had it been since I had walked down this street? Leading to the place where I had grown up, to the place that held my childhood memories? For years I had been tempted to go and have a look, but I haled back, not wanting to go near the place where my children slept. I knew that they would not recognise me, I knew that they would not know who I was and I was scared to tell them who I was. I had no idea how they would react to me- or how Elizabeth would. I had no idea if Elizabeth was alive, or if she was safe, or if she was still losing her sanity and deep down it hurt, because I still loved her. I wanted to know how she was doing, I wanted to see her smile, that smile that had made me melt. I wanted her to say my name, to call me by the name that I had only ever allowed her to call me by. But I knew that I couldn't let that happen, tonight my mission was just to have a quick peak and disappear almost as if I hadn't of gone there in the first place.

By now I was only a few streets away from the house which would tower over the rest, a house that would symbolise wealth power and influence, a house that was truly mine. Sometimes I wander what life would have been like if I hadn't of left- could I have changed my children? Re mould them so they weren't the monsters that my wife had carved them to be? I remember the way she encouraged them to do things that would be deemed inappropriate, deemed sick and repulsive. I sometimes wondered what was running through her mind at times like those, but then I also knew that at those times that she was losing her mind. What if she had not meant to make them turn out the way they did? What if that was the insanity talking and not the woman that I had learned to love? I guess I would never know.

Pulling myself out of my thoughts, I take a moment to look around. I was standing in front of a huge gait, an iron one, that towered above me, staring down at me with hard cold eyes so much like Aragorns had been last time I saw him. As I took in the historical architecture, memories begun to flow through me, memories that warmed my heart and made me smile. I had been one of four children, the youngest. My brothers had often picked on me, but i knew that they had only been taking the piss out of me, they really did love me deep down. We had been a close family, one that was respected in the eyes of the district. Was the Blackmore name still a respected name these days?

I wasn't quite sure, and to be totally honest I didn't know whether I wanted to know if the name was disgraced or not. I didn't need to know. I wanted to keep the good memoirs I have of my name.

Hesitantly, I creep a little closer to the gait and press my face up against the cool iron, my eyes trying to see into the house which had many floors and too many rooms to count. I wanted to get a closer look, I wanted to see more. I look around me to make sure no one is looking, I will only be in there for a few minutes, I reassure myself before I begin my challenging climb over the large gait which was the barrier between me and unearthing many forgotten memories.

Where am I?

I don't know where I am.

I feel lost but this place is so familiar.

I slowly open my eyes to scan my surroundings. I'm in a red room. No, not a red room, a crimson room. I turn my head around, why am I surrounded by crimson? Why is it so empty? I want to get out, it's dark and lonely in here. But the crimson, it's so enticing. I try to move my legs but they won't. It's as if they've betrayed me. They won't move? Why won't they move? This red room, I can't get out. Move, move, I have to move.

But I don't want to move.

I inhale deeply and the scent is intoxicating, pure ecstasy. It's the thick scent of blood. It's suffocating, overwhelming. It's as if someone's taken a big red pillow and tried to smother me with it; and I love it. Smother me, choke me, entice me. It's all crimson, all overwhelmingly bloody and red. As if all the crimson itself is cloaking me, embracing me in a tight bare hug and never letting go. I want to go, it's lonely, it's empty and there's nothing here for me. Except all the blood, that's what's here for me - all the blood and red that paints the walls.

I can't resist...

I awake with a sharp gasp; as if reality slapped me full in the face with a wet palm. My eyes snapped open so quick I thought someone had slapped me in the face - I even put a shaky hand onto my cheek but there was no stinging, no pain, just damp from sweat. The same dream, the same room, I want to go back there but- I shook my head so vigorously, as if to clear my head of those thoughts. I turned away from the mirror in my room, I couldn't even bear to look at myself right now. Probably a skinny mess as always. With a groan I turned so my legs were hanging off the edge of the bed and I was in a seated position.

Why do I want to go back there so bad? Hah, I knew the answer to that already. I wanted the blood, I wanted the crimson to overwhelm me, suffocate me again. But it's wrong, it's wrong damn it, it's so wrong. I promised myself I wouldn't be like everybody else. But my desires were strong, even my dreams knew it, they found it and they tapped into it, like it was some sort of grim reminder of who I really am and what I stand for. That room, it's a mockery but it's also some sort of sweet temptation that I know I'll never get.

I can't sleep. I decide and throw my soft, warm sheets and drag my self so my knees are pressed against my chest, closed in with me hands. I don't want to sleep. I don't want to sleep because what if I find myself stuck in that room again? What if I never come out again, forever to be smothered and hugged by the smell of blood and the sight of crimson running down the walls. But I want to see it, be trapped in it, just one more time. But what if that one more time is forever? What if I die in my sleep and I'm forever trapped in there? Would that truly be so bad? Yes! Of course it would! I slap myself about three time on my right cheek. I can't even look at myself any more. I turn away and keep staring at the pillow, taking my mind off everything.

I just wish I could go back to sleep and forget that ever happened. What time is it? Ten? Twelve? I don't even know any more. Maybe if I just took a sleeping pill or something I would fall asleep eventually and then I could just- who's that?. I can see someone, climbing over the gait that protects this house, what the hell? Suddenly electricity courses through me, switching me on faster than a light bulb and I seem to spring off my mattress with a million questions coursing through my head. Who's that? Are we being robbed? Should I go down there? I act almost instinctively and begin striding for the door before I catch myself right at the doorway. I'm such an idiot, what if he hears me and he's armed? I should use stealth, try and sneak down there.

So slowly but surely I open the door and begin creeping down the steps, making sure not to wake anyone and making sure not to alert whoever is down there outside the window. I get down to the bottom of the steps and creep into the kitchen and find a kitchen knife, just sitting there. This should scare him off. I snatch up the knife and hastily get to the door and open it before the weird man can get there and find him staring. I lift the knife towards him in a steady hand and an iron grip. "Stay away, you're not welcome here!" I command.

Is this some poor man looking to steal some stuff. The blonde beard looks scruffy enough that's for sure. "Look, stay away or Cousin Aragorn will have your head, I'm warning you!" I shout this time, to make myself heard. I'm trying to sound as confident as ever, I'm trying to be brave. I don't want him to be killed or anything, he should stay away or someone really will have his head. That's just what always happens to the unfortunate sap who tries to steal from here.
