Brick sat in her office looking at the summons that had just come to her. She had no clue why she was so nervous about this. Of course it could have been the fact that the summons had come by the hand of one of her brothers and it was a summons from her uncle. If there was anyone in this world that Brick feared it was her father and her uncle was the spitting image of her father. The two were twins after all. Her father was long since gone but her uncle was not. Her brother just walked in handed her the paper and left with out so much as a hello. Family never put Brick in a very good mood. She wasn't sure why he wanted her but he was summoning her. It was probably to get some more insight on the groups of trainees going through the academy and to check and see if there was any more time she had for them or something to the likes of that. She took a deep breath and looked back at her desk with her book on it. She had canceled the client that was going in in an hour. She knew that talking to her Uncle was going to take awhile and so she had told the client to come see her later at her home. It was rare she did that but she knew the client really needed her and she would not abandon them she would listen to what they needed to tell her and she would do the other obligations she had.
There was no saying no to her uncle. She walked out of her office taking a deep breath once more and gathering the courage that seemed to have left her body the instant she had opened the summons and seen the name. She walked as quickly as she could to the Peacekeeper Academy and straight into the offices. It didn't take her long to be standing right in front of the spitting image of what she most feared. "Brick sit down now!" It was a direct order and something Brick was not going to follow at the moment. She would rather stay standing. She said not a word and when her Uncle noticed her still standing he was up and out of his seat and right in her face. "I told you to sit down." Brick squared up and stood taller. "I would rather stand thank you very much." Her eyes that were usually so calm and sweet towards her clients were now cold as ice. She felt the yank and steady herself against the man. "Commander Denton with all due respect sir. I would rather stay standing with the ability to leave at my leisure. I do have other clients to attend to and would like to get this over with as soon as possible."
Her words only seemed to fuel the fire in her Uncle's eyes. "Miss Brick Eloise Denton SIT!" She was pulled to the chair and promptly dropped into it. The keepers outside of the room looked in but were quickly turned away by her uncle. Brick was beginning to lose her own nerve. She hated being called her full name and to top it off her Uncle sounded like her father. If only her grandfather was still alive. He wouldn't allow, nor would her eldest brother but she coaxed herself into relaxing a bit but her eyes stayed cold. She stood up once he got to his seat and kicked the chair back away from her. "I told you I would rather stand. I'm not a child anymore Darin." There was venom in her voice and though her uncle wasn't nearly bad as her father the hatred for him was fueling the venom. Darin began to chuckle and sat down. "Defiant as ever. Fine i don't have the time and neither do you to do this. I need to know about my students. Do you have time to see each and every one of them in the next three days?" "That depends Commander Denton. How many will I be seeing in a day." She pulled out her calender and looked at him expectantly.
It took a few more minutes and she was finally turning out of the commanders office and heading back through the academy. She was not paying attention when she ran into someone. "Sorry" She said without even looking up. Her eyes were still cold and she was unfeeling as she had willed herself to go numb half way between leaving her office and heading into her Uncle's.
