[presto] may rhodes. sixteen. female. district nine. THE ROSES OF THE CIMARRON | May woke up with a scream. She took a deep breath and hoped that she hadn't woken anyone else. She rolled off her makeshift bed and stood up slowly with the help of the actual bed in the room. She looked around and everything was covered in blood. She had been dreaming about Bryce's death and she couldn't get the images of blood out of her mind. She was going to have to do something about this before she got into the arena. She couldn't be having attacks in the arena. Nightmares were going to happen but she had to calm her mind down and see blood for what it was. It meant that you were still living and someone else was dead. It meant that there was a possibility you could be dying too. She had to turn her emotions back off but she was having trouble doing that. She had to find a way to be a rock when no one else could be one for her. She had to put on the brave and determined face because her sisters would be watching her. Of course that posed two problems for the sixteen year old. Her sisters might never want her back, if she came back. |
She peeked outside her door and was surprised to find her father standing there with a glass of water. She looked at the male avox with a terrified expression as the glass her held was filled with blood. In truth it wasn't it was just water but her eyes had not adjusted to making everything the way that it was supposed to be. She took a few deep breaths and backed up. He couldn't kill her here after all he had already killed once. On top of that she didn't look like her mother she looked like him. She was glad it was her and one of her sisters here. Perhaps he would have gotten the mind to kill them before the whole thing started. Of course where would that put him. Would he finally be dead and unable to haunt any of them? She highly doubted that he wouldn't haunt them. If she died she'd be safe but that didn't matter. Safety was not what she was going for, for herself. She finally took the glass of water from him and then hurried out of her room and way from him as quickly as possible. Why was it that they got the avox's originally from their own districts. She sat down on the couch and began to search for something.
A few moments later she found the little flask and picked it up out of its hiding spot. Alcohol was no way to calm your fears but at the moment she wanted to be lost in noting but crazy images of things spinning around. That was all she wanted so as she opened the flask she looked around. Upon taking the first drink a warmth began to spread over her making it easier for her to numb herself. The only thing that would ruin this would be someone walking in and catching her getting drunk and that someone being her mentor. Nocturne would just join in.
