Name: Shea Lovelace
Age: 15
Gender: Female
District: Seven
Appearance:
Shea's build is on the petite side, but she is of average height. She stands at 5'4, and is very slim. This is mainly due to the fact that she hardly eats, even though her family is not that bad off. When asked why she turns down food at her plate often, even though parts of her district hardly have anything to eat, she replies simply, "I have more important things to do than food," before skipping off. She does eat occasionally, but it is usually an apple or a bit of cheese rather than a full meal. Shea doesn't mind being hungry.
Perhaps Shea Lovelace's most distiguishing feature is her eyes. Astonishing orbs of turquoise-green lay embedded into an otherwise unremarkable face. These eyes are small, but have a translucent feel to them, which makes them rather mysterious and haunting. When talking to her, one often finds themself feeling as if she is staring right through you.
Shea's face is oval shaped, but with a very sharp, defined chin that points. Every other feature of her is soft and unastounding. Her hair is a drab dirty blonde, wavy and reaching just past her shoulders. She has small lips, and you'll never catch her smiling with her mouth open. Her eybrows arch very lightly above her eyes, framing them.Personality:
If you were to question citizens of District Seven about the personality of Shea Lovelace, you'd probably get, "Her? She's an odd one," in response. And indeed, Shea is an odd one. She's nice enough, but she has strange tendancies to do certain things that most normal people wouldn't.
Shea is not an attentive listener, and when she was a young girl she was diagnosed with a light case of ADD, or attention deficit disorder. She gets distracted easily, and by the smallest things. She forgets things easily, procrastinates, and is often incredibly disorganized. But of course, in her eyes this isn't the fault of her disorder. When asked why she is the way she is, Shea blames it on 'the voices'.
The fifteen-year-old claims to have a sixth sense of clairaudience, although this remains to be proven. She says she hears the voices of 'spirits', as well as 'faeries'. Shea is a firm believer in the existence of the fae, which she says live in the towering forests outside of her district. This she probably inherits from her mother, who has told her faerie stories since she was an infant. Oftentimes Shea does not attend school; rather she can be found in the woods 'speaking' to her spirit friends. It remains to be seen whether or not they speak back.
She doesn't have many friends, in fact, hardly any. Most people think of Shea as mad, and maybe she is, slightly. The thing is, though, she's not unintelligent; she's actually a bright girl, just not when it comes to books and schoolwork. Many people find it hard to have a lasting conversation with her, but this is mainly because of her tendancy to daydream and be distracted by something.
Whether her voices are real or not, Shea is definitely an odd one.History:
Shea was born to an average District Seven family. Well no, not average. Her mother is something of a hippie, eating only organic foods, constantly meditating and doing yoga, preaching about being at peace with the world. Of course, it didn't please her that Shea's father, her husband, was a lumberjack just like most of District Seven. She hated that he chopped down defenseless trees for a living. So she often kept him home from work, which got him fired more than once from numerous different logging companies. He always bounced back, though. For Shea's father was an optimist in the truest sense of the word. In fact, it was a little creepy at times. He was never seen without a smile on his face, and the glass was always half full in his eyes. It often got him into spots of trouble, because no matter who he angered with his approach on things, he refused to fight back.
And this was fatal to him.
The official story was that he was killed in a 'logging accident'. But in reality he had been sought out by someone he'd beat out for a large sum of money in a card game one night. Shea was four at the time. Needless to say, her father hadn't fought back when the man had attacked him, and he'd ended up chopped to bits by the man's axe.
They'd literally had to bury each of his body parts seperately.
Shea hardly remembers her dad, though. In her mind she only has a vague memory of a man who smiled a lot...a whole lot. So, despite that minor setback, Shea lived her childhood the same way she would have if her father hadn't been murdered; daydreaming and constantly running off to the woods to speak to the 'faeries'.
When she was eleven, her mom had suddenly found herself pregnant. She refused to disclose who the father was, and Shea was so immersed in her own...endeavors that she didn't even think of trying to find out. So Shea's little sister Kenzie had been born without a dad.
Despite the many odd occurances in Shea's life, she's never once changed her ways. So what is she's a schizophrenic with ADD who believes in faeries? It's never once stopped her, and it probably never will.
