Her hands shake violently, stark white as her nails dig into calloused palms. "No." It was all she could manage through clenched teeth as the blonde boy took her sister into his arms. "Get away from her." he speaks sweet words into her ear before leaving her to die. "You bastard get away from her!" tears stung the corners of her eyes, an emotion foreign to her until now. Even when blood stained her hands, as a knife dug into the flesh of a woodland creature, she felt nothing. Not tears or regret, no happiness. Just abysmal nothing. That was normal. That was comfortable.
This was more than anger. White hot flames lapped at her cheeks, draining her of all sanity and will. And as her sister plunges a knife into her chest, face contorting in the pain she'd hidden do well, as her sister's final heartbeat was marked by a canon, Idris fled. He'd promised. She'd heard his words as if they were her own. The god she entrusted with her own life, as well as her sister's, was nothing but a fraud.
Worry not my child, your sister will return.

She was going to make something pay. She would make everything pay. The world didn't deserve a wholesome death, they wouldn't join Ingrid in the afterlife they'd sent her to so early. Her hands wrap around a familiar hilt, the weighted metal of her sacrificial blade. It was responsible for the various scars creeping along her veins, as well as the skeletons huddled around the trunk of a once great god. It had taken so many lives. It would take one more tonight.
"Fuck you." Her knees refuse to carry her body any further. Only feet from the god she'd devoted her life to, they sink into the blood-stained dirt. Breaking the stark white skeletons having laid dormant there for years. "I'll kill you. I'll kill them all!" her voice is hoarse, so shrill it burns the back of her throat and hurts her ears. Knife making its way over her head, she plunges it deep into the dirt. Over and over again, with growing rage and determination. Her sister was gone.
Ingrid was dead.
With each swing, strength returns to her limbs. She felt weak, like it was she who had been bitten by a blade.oh how she wished such a thing was true. It hurt to move, not from physical pain, but something entirely different. Something evil.
The creatures she'd wounded earlier that morning still lay upon the ground, shaking as she staggered towards them, tears dripping off her chin. "I don't need this." A laugh bubbled from her lips as she dropped the silver blade upon her bare feet. It left a shallow wound upon her flesh, but one she paid little attention to it bite. Sobs and laughter intermingled as she grabbed the first creature. A bird whose wings had been snapped.
Holding the thing in one hand, she reeled it backwards, putting as much force into the swing as she could, the thrashing creature was hurled towards the fraud. It bit at her fingers and scratched at her skin, only bringing forth hysterical laughter from the girl.
A beautiful crimson was released when it made contact with the bark, splattering it among the trunk as well as most of her face and clothing. The ritual was repeated, growing in brutality each passing moment. They were crushed against the bark, painting it a sickly red. Even after they'd long since stopped moving, Idris continued. She saw nothing other than red, body stained with the thick liquid.
This did nothing to quell her anger, and soon her playthings had all disappeared. Her hands dug through the mess she'd created, once again finding the silver blade
"I don't need you!" She screeched, sinking the blade into the bloodied bark.
And so she did until it was bent and broken, resembling what was left of the heart within her chest. Her world was crumbling about her; she was powerless. And she hated it.
Soaked in the blood of innocents, and upon her sister's spirit, the girl made a vow. One she intended to keep.
"I'll go into the arena." She muttered, shedding the bloodstained clothes and wading into the water her sister loved so dearly. "I'll kill them all."
A grin upon her mouth, too wide and too large, she made a vow to her sister, and her only friend.
"I promise you that."
