Name: Moonlit Mountaingrove
Nick-Name: Moon
Age: 12
Gender: Female
District: 11
Appearance: Moon has tanish skin, with her hair light brown hair braided down her back. She has big, dark-brown, sad eyes from seeing her mother being killed by the peace-keepers for stealing some fruit for Moon’s family, and she not being able to do anything. One of her eyes was hurt from when she was stealing a bit of food to eat from the trees when she was little and while she was running for safety and a peace-keeper found her, and whipped her as she ran away, not hurting her as much as it would’ve if she didn’t escape, but still permanently damaging her sight. She doesn’t see very well but her excellent hearing makes up for it.
Moon usually wears a small, knitted, chestnut colored hat that her mother made her before she died. She also tends to wear a short sleeved, little bit over-sized, cold shirt with a belt across it. The belt carries a bottle of water, a small bag of wound-cleaning powder, and a tiny Swiss-army knife. She also tends to wear a school uniform skirt, and long-lasting tennis-shoes. Moon can run along trees, making the allusion that she can fly, she knows her herbs, but because works very, very hard she doesn’t get much time to go to school much, and doesn’t know math, or how to read very well. Moon isn’t seen very much around because she is usually working in the grove of her foster-family.
Personality: Moon is often at home with her mother, father and siblings, in her thoughts, where if she’s not working she’ll often be. She loves animals like her foster families dog, Smokey, and she loves what’s left of her real family, and Moon loves (even if it’s of topic) the wild strawberry’s she finds in a special secret spot in the grove. Moon when she is in her thoughts she often worries about being picked for the games, she worries about having to kill another person, which from her mothers death and feeling it her fault she knows she can’t ever. And she worries what would happen to her siblings.
But sometimes in her imagination she will be a dreaming, of a perfect world, or her family, or even new ways to work at the grove that would make it less exhausting, and more efficient or anything and lots else. She loves climbing the trees in the evening and seeing the sunset, it reminds her why she’s working and it motivates her. She is very timid little girl around people, but in her free-time she’s cheerful and happy, especially around her brothers.
Moon is very self-reliant with her foster-family, taking care of her little brother, and helping her older bro with the multi-person chores.
And with making sure they all have enough to eat .By helping they pick from their special tree the most secretive unwatched fruit tree in the grove (for themselves) (otherwise they’d go to work hungry.) Moon often helps her brothers and her bros help her
History: Moon is an orphan trying desperately not to have her siblings and her end up back in the community home. She works with her siblings at one of the rich farmers’ fields. On the official sheet of paper it says that their foster-family was adopting them, but Moon knows they were really just hiring them to be slaves (or at least they treat her like that). Sometimes she wonders if it’s worth it though, to work like a slave, or to be sent back to the community home, but her siblings reassure her.
Moon would be home with her whole family living a life that only now seems better then anything in the world. If only her mother’s death, of stealing some of the fruit they picked for the family, and being whipped to death hadn’t happened, and her dad disappearing hadn’t happened. Her dad was always a dreamer; he would take her into the grove after work on good days and they would watch the sun going down as her dad told her what he imagined it was like to live in the career districts, or his little schemes to get more money, Moon would listen and see it so clearly.
But one day her dad was going out to do one more little bit of work before they went out to see the sunset, and never came back, her family asked everyone but no-one knew what happened to him. And her mom was caught stealing an extra bit of fruit for the family, and killed in a public whipping. The kids then went to the community home and adopted by a rich family with their own farm, to work very, very hard.
