Lars

So, I am The Bad Twin. I'm only called that because people seem to think Sven, my twin brother, and I are very different. People call him smarter, and me blunter. Or maybe he's sharper, I meant that. He and I are a team, and I wouldn't let anybody else think otherwise. Maybe without him, I'd be nothing but a dog on a leash. I feel that is far truer than I want it to be, though.

Appearance

Lars is a strong guy. He's quite a bit stronger than his twin brother, actually. However this is a matter of mentality, not physical appearance or capability. Lars is simply more enduring than Sven is. He and Sven have an identical appearance, except for perhaps the slightest of differences. Lars has the tiniest difference in the deepness of his eyes, for instance. He has a dark blonde tone to his hair, which is always usually quite short. His eyes never fail to be blue, either. His ears are quite protruding, which is something that he has personally never admired about himself.

Lars carries himself with quite a confidence. He acts strong, and tough. It is mostly because he is, with that attitude. His walk and his talk is all about strength, and power. He likes to believe that this 'Bad Twin' demeanor is actually a truth about him. Unlike his twin brother, Lars has a smug grin on his face most of the time. It is a subtlety that he has, to which he barely notices. It is because he knows that he looks quite well, and maybe even the slightest term of handsome. It's an arrogance that he keeps private, verbally. It transpires in the small things he does, which makes him appear more dominant.

Personality

In regards to dominance, he and Sven are quite different. Sven is quite a low talking guy, and more of a tactician, and a thinker. Lars is a doer, and he likes to get things done with action and haste. This is probably the most that they differ, however. As boring as it may be, he and Sven are very similar. This has made them become much more knitted into a bond that is very inseparable. He and Sven are much more like the best of friends rather than the best of brothers. They seem to share everything, and can recall each other's memories as though it were innate. It isn't, though. It's simply because they have lived almost each and every day by the side of the other.

Fortunately for Lars, he has Sven. He has the brains that he needs right next to him. Sven's smartness is what keeps Lars sane, most of the time. Lars has the tendency to put himself into unsafe situations, and always seems to make an enemy somewhere simply because of his volatile nature. This is derived from their parents. Lars was more connected with his father, by chance mostly. Their parents have been together a long time, and were careers themselves, which has also had a part to play in their also career-like lives. Lars had that unconscious preference of his father, which made him idolise him more than his mother, who actually had the brains of their parents. That is why Sven is perhaps seen as the smarter one, despite the smallness of the difference.

Lars and Sven come together, though. Lars is definitely the more protective of the pair. This is not only determined by his tendency to beat Sven in training, but also because it has happened on past occasions, which has made he and Sven fit together like puzzle pieces, because they are both at the core, dependent on one and other. It is a curious thing to consider the future, for them, as they do not know what it might hold. That is where Lars would trust in Sven more, as he would expect Sven to know what to do. That isn't actually true though, and Sven would be more wiser to look to Lars, who he thinks might be stronger mentally. That isn't the case, in fact it is the opposite of the truth.

History

Black and Gold. One black ribbon for Lars, and a gold one for Sven. At birth, it was Lars who was first to be met by the world. His eyes fluttered to an open only a while later, and his fingers were already on the move. He started as he meant to go on; adventurous and eager to face the challenges in front of him. His twin brother and he were always dressed in similar clothes by he and his parents; they had the money to do that. Lars' parents were, and are a pair of trainees for the youth schemes in the Career Academy. Career being the fighting kind, of course. Growing up, Lars and Sven had always been together in the little nurseries that the District has set up in various places. Even in school, they were in the same classes to start. That changed for some lessons, though, as the teachers were beginning to get them mixed up far too often. People would always just address them as 'The Twins' because they are so similar in appearance. Only their friends could dictate the differences.

Eventually, Lars and Sven began to differ a slight. This was just before the reaping age, at eleven years. They had started to wear different clothes most of the time, only matching out of humor, because it was undoubted a day-brightener to see teachers and pupils alike get mixed up. It was during their first day at High School, right at the start of their reaping age of twelve, that they encountered a tipping point in who they were, and who they would become. Lars and Sven had just arrived, and what everybody had said about the start of school became so apparently true; people stare, and people judge. Somebody decided it was funny to push one of the twins; it just so happened to be Sven. Lars dropped his bag carelessly and threw himself at the pushing bully, grabbing him by his uniform's collar and glaring right at him, before throwing him to the ground. Lars got in a lot of trouble for that, but defending his brother was essential. Sven understood it on a deeper level though; it made them looked fearsome. They liked that.

From then on, or near enough that time, rarely did anybody else ever lay a finger upon either of the twins. Lars felt as though this was a huge ego boost for him, yet another reason the pair are different. Lars is the defender, whilst Sven is the brain. Growing up more, getting into their mid teens, they were becoming adept fighters. Lars predominantly used two swords, whilst Sven used a single sword. It was mostly out of tendency and preference, and the fact that they didn't want to use too many swords. Lars has rarely been beaten by his brother, even when only using one sword. That doesn't mean they aren't that equal, because they are. Sven is just more careful, and more capable of training himself rather than tiring himself out for a winning position. That's where Lars fails, and that's where he needs to learn.
