Alisa has short brown hair that she wears just passed her ears. She keeps it short to so it doesn't get in her way when she sews. She doesn't mind it though overall as it is easier to maintain. She will sometimes wear a pin in her hair or some kind of hat, most likely one she made, when she feels a bit insecure of her hair length. Generally this doesn't happen unless someone teases her about her hair though. She has brown eyes that are almost black looking, though she prefers to call them chocolate brown as it sounds more pleasant than calling them black. Her mother once told her that her eyes glowed when she smiled as a child. Alisa doesn't know if this was true, but she does have memories of people saying they loved her eyes.

She has a defined chin, not round and not sharp just enough to emphasis her face shape. Her body is on the slim side, mostly due to the fact she would eat less than her siblings so they could save money on food, and she lacks any real muscle do any real work. She isn’t the tallest of people either as she stands about five foot five. She is actually shorter than a few of her siblings which tend to make people think she is one of the younger children in the family. She doesn’t much mind it too much though as it does sometimes help being on the smaller side.

Personality:

Alisa is a quiet girl; she doesn’t like to put her noses into other people’s business and keeps her head down in times of trouble. One to respect the law and everything that goes around her she does her best not to stick out like a sore thumb. Though with one of her siblings being more of a rabble rouser she sometimes will play the diplomat of the family to make sure no one gets into too much trouble in the family. Sometimes this doesn’t work as she is often soft-spoken and if they are a bit rowdy she could be drowned out and just pushed aside. She does wish she could grow a backbone, but she always feels if she did she would only hurt her family than help them.

She does care for her family and is willing to take a bullet for them if needed, figuratively, to keep them safe. She always said if for any reason one of her siblings were to get chosen for the games she would volunteer for them, though if she were honest with herself she probably wouldn’t as she is a coward and doesn’t want to die just because one of her siblings was unlucky to be reaped. Luckily she hasn’t had to face with that as they haven’t been called yet and hopefully they wouldn’t. She fears getting reaped because she knows she won’t last. She doesn’t have the blood lust the careers have and because of her lack of strength she would be easy to over power. She knows she would probably be one of the first to die if not to die early on. Most nights she prays to herself hoping she won’t get picked for reaping and that she can just live in peace with her family without any worries. She waits for the day when she turns eighteen and can’t be reaped anymore.

Alisa is very susceptible to stressful situations and can practically shut down during these moments. It’s almost like the world around her just vanishes and she goes into a state of self-loathing and hatred. She becomes unresponsive to anyone outside her head and it takes a ton of praise or encouragement to get her out of this mindset. She hates when she goes into this state of mind too as she feels she burdens people a lot when it happens. That’s one of the things Alisa doesn’t like to do, burden people with her life and emotions. She even hates burdening her family which is one of the reasons why she eats less than her siblings. Alisa isn’t one to ask for help not because she doesn’t need it, but because she feels everyone has better use for their time than helping her. She has very low confidence in herself and it shows in her actions.

History:

Alisa was born the eldest daughter of two cotton pickers of district eight. Danny and Regina Slipknot were a simple folk who did their best to keep themselves decently fed. When times got hard of course sometimes they would ration out the food so thin it almost felt like they were starving. That didn’t stop the two parents from having children though. Regina loved children and always wanted some while Danny saw it as an opportunity to help gain more of an income for the family. Though his plan was a bit flawed as it also meant more mouths to feed so sometimes it backfired a bit. So they had a total of four children and decided that was way more than they needed so they stopped having children just in case they couldn’t afford to feed them.

When Alisa was twelve and she became of age for reaping her parents decided to put her to work very quickly. She worked mostly at home though because they didn’t want her to get in trouble for messing up on the job, since she was very little and could barely do much. She did provide a decent amount of money to the family which kept them going on food for each week. Sometimes times were slow and she had to scrape by with a little less than her siblings, but she was able to help her family. She became pretty adept at sewing fabrics together to make clothing. She found herself making a few simple hats and socks for herself and her siblings with left-over fabric that they were supposed to throw away. It wasn’t the most pretty of clothing, but it at least saved them some money on clothing which was a nice plus.

Of course since they were a decent size family it wasn’t like they went unnoticed. There was a few times where things happened to the family that made them known. One time when Alisa was wishing for more fabric so she could make better clothing for the family her brother stole some fabric for her. She was grateful, but the deed didn’t go unnoticed. She was blamed for the crime when they found the fabric in the house, but her father took the punishment in her stead. This was probably around the time where Alisa became more reserved and decided to keep her head down most of the time. She rarely would comment to her family about wanting things and would just work on what she had in front of her. She still doesn’t know the fate her father suffered from taking the blame.
