Tobias Pine--
“To District Four!” And with that I raise the clear glass to my lips, downing the tawny liquid in one swig, shutting my eyes as the burn singes my throat before setting the glass down with more force than I had planned upon. I eye the table across the way, debating as to whether the necessary effort to acquire more of the golden fire was worthwhile or not. Meh, maybe later. The day one festivities were well under way, and even though I was dressed out in the clothing of a competitor, I had wandered off to the life of the party, where I had then received disapproving stares as to say “You shouldn’t be competing intoxicated.”
First off, I’m not competing today.
Secondly, even if I was, I believe it would be quite the crowd pleaser to have an intoxicated competitor. Hell, I could probably do better than those who were completely sober. Maybe loosening up would help them to find their footing—it had for me.
I pull myself to a standing position (though an unstable one, at that), and make my way towards the white clothed table against the back wall. I pass many of those whose names I at least know, including a few family members (where the hell is Kronos, I could’ve made him get me a drink so I didn’t have to get up), but I push the notion away as I bump into the back of another.
“Hey, twinkle toes, watch where you’re going next time, why don’t you? If this glass would’ve been full,” And with that I halfheartedly raise the glass to shove it in his face to make a point before continuing, “it probably would’ve spilt over one of us, and considering my awful luck, it probably would’ve been me.”
