There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Lunch. I hated the way it was set up, and how they wanted us to eat with the other tributes. Nothing about this was fun, but as I looked at all the food placed for all of us to grab, my eyes got wide. Some of this food I had never saw before in my entire life, and truthfully, I was terrified to try it. So I carried my plate around looking for some kind of food I knew. It didn't take long to find some yummy looking green beans, and a pork meat. I placed two pork meat slabs on my plate and three spoon fulls of green beans. I also grabbed a roll. When I grabbed a glass, I requested water. A lot of drinks looked strange. I mean who drinks black water? Black hot water at that? Maybe one day I would try it, but not right now.
I moved across the dining room until I found a table in the corner. Nobody was sitting there, so I took it hoping that nobody noticed me. The only person I wanted to talk to right now was Saffron or Kirk or even Mace. Yeah, he terrifies me, but he's from home, and right now those three are all of home I have left right now. I remove the tiny wooden cow from my pocket. Sometimes it helps me to remember that my parents always cared about me, and that Cowie is in good hands. I just wish I could be back home to see her, and milk her like every morning. She makes some amazing cheese. I feel so far away from home. So far away from anyone that life just seems like I'm wandering through an endless shell. I put the cow back in my pocket and turn towards my food. I've never had this much food on my plate at once, and it feels wrong, but maybe or the first time in my life, I can go to sleep with a full stomach.
So I dug in.
