“Hibiscus, get over here and stop day dreaming.”
Hibiscus was a dreaming, taking the what if and trying to make it happen. He liked to think outside the box to the point where he would get stuck. Then he would reroute his thoughts and find new ways. He was always to smart to cut lumber.
He wanted to be a teacher, a scholar, something that he could never achieve. For one, he didn't fit in at work. The people there referred to him as " The Wonderer". Was it his fault that they thought he wasn't one of them? He didn't want to do the job they did. He wanted a more. But wanting more was never the answer.
His dreaming also scared off some of the other kids on the streets. Thy looked at him with disbelief. They never wanted to be around him hearing his "Bullshit" analysis of why this or that is, or will be.
“If you don't get to work you will be out of a job.”
Being fourteen and having a job has been hard. He never really liked the fact that he had to drop out of school, and had to furnish for himself. But he had too. He would start his days with a cup of water and a slice of bread, if they had any, that his brother Lotus would get.
Days were long, going by so slow. He literally would wonder off during work for an hour or so. Which in return made his brother pull both of their weights. Doing labor work was always a hard thing, because you had so much to think about when cutting the logs. The length, the high, and width.
“How much longer Lotus?”
“Two Hours. But if you actually do some of your work maybe One.”
Hibiscus looked up at lotus. He reminded him of their mother. Unlike Lotus, Hibiscus looked a lot like their father. He had dark brown hair, a round face, and narrow nose. But unlike Lotus, He liked to look like he had somewhere to go. He wanted to dress his best, and to look the part. But he never had anywhere to go, and no reason to look any part.
He wear his boots, much like the ones his brother would wear. He dress like his brother, which he had no choice. It was what they could get, And what they had. He wanted finer things, but he could only get the loose shirt that hung off of him, and the fitted pants. They weren't even a delightful colors, being a muted tone.
“Hey Lotus. Tell me a story.”
Hibiscus doesn't really have a past. Or he doesn't like to think about it. It was dark and horrid, filled with hate and murder. It was something that he was totally unaware of, and wished he had never known the fact that his father murdered his mother and sister. But he did insist that Lotus tell him.
Besides that, Hibiscus and a relatively normal child hood, having to live on the streets. He stole food, and clothes, and other stuff which he sold for money to get food.
But there was this one time. He and Lotus was running low on food. There was this wealthier family in the district. They had more than they needed, and somethings that Lotus and he could use to get food. So, the broke in. The manage to get some dishes and food. But while getting out, Hibiscus get caught in the fence. He became frantic, and was drawing unwanted attention.
The next thing you know a dog had bite his left hand pinky off. He has manage to live with out it, seeing as it's not a huge lost, but that night taught him to be more careful.Name | Hibiscus
