appearance:

Linnea (which is pronounced lin-nay-a.) has dark features, much like the rest of her district. With a dark skin tone, deep brown hair and dark brown eyes. In the night she can easily go unnoticed. She's also small and frail for her age, standing at only 5 foot 2 inches she weighs a mere one hundred pounds from lack of nourishment.

Her most notable features would be her large puffy lips - and her strong and thick eyebrows. Her long hair is usually hidden under a knit cap made from her mother, her locks sitting on one side of her shoulder. Despite her lack of food and proper nutrients, Linnea is considered rather pretty within her district. Most would describe her as cute and harmless - however there is a lot more behind those dark eyes than most will realize.

Linnea dresses very simply, she only really has two to three different outfits that basically just reflect the weather. In the summer she wears a white tank top with cargo shorts - in the winter a black top, cargo pants and knee high boots that cover the bottoms of her pants. In the spring she'll wear her black top and her cargo shorts. The only definable piece of clothing she owns is her cap which she wears over the back of her skull.

personality:

Linnea is some what of a mystery to most, she keeps to herself and internalizes a lot of her emotions. Being conflicted about the death of her twin brother and the involvement she had that led to his demise - she holds onto a lot of guilt. Those feelings materialize in the way she interacts with people and how she makes decisions. Although she tends to make brash choices - she always second guesses herself afterward. Every move she makes - every word she speaks.. will mean a million questions flooding her head.

Linnea puts a lot of effort into her school work, finding it her best escape from the every day struggles in her district. After her brother passed she finds very little enjoyment out of anything in life. The single thing she's found comforting was music and singing. However - she will rarely be seen singing in public. But when she thinks she's alone - she uses the power of song to release what she needs to without actually having to face it head on.

She believes her family also blames her for the death of her brother - given the distance it created within the family. Not being able to find trust or warmth from her own parents - she has a hard time trusting anyone enough to let them through the wall she's built around her. Linnea has the mind set that if people get close to her - she'll only hurt them like she did her own flesh and blood. It's almost as if she sees herself as a human land mine.

          The seasons had seamlessly passed over one another, and winter was upon us. The cold frigid air was so strong.. so bracing that it could pass through you like a ghost. The crops outside had started to die and wither - not unlike some of the more unfortunate  inhabitants of District 11.  The extreme weather conditions seemed to kill more than the malnutrition.
         
          Sleep was so often hard to come by, despite my sheer exhaustion the vibrations and groans of my empty stomach kept me awake. Not to mention even if I did manage to fall into a slumber - my dreams would be haunted with past horrors that I can't repress no matter how hard I try. Even just closing my eyelids, I could see his face. Breathless, lifeless - the pain evident in his small, expressionless face.

          Stomp.. Stomp.. Stomp.. the sound of footsteps outside my bedroom door wake me from whatever comatose state I'd attempted to go into. Slowly I rise my head and look out the window, barely able to make anything out through the frost painted on the glass. My legs swing out from the thin covers and straight into my only pair of boots - which have already started to break at the sole. I dress myself with a black top cut at the sleeves and a pair of cargo pants. I place a knit cap on my head, it was one of the few things that actually helped shield me from the winter air. My hands run through my long hair which resembled the color of tree bark - it was the closest thing I had to a brush. 

          As I leave my room, I come across my parents - both of them are preparing for their work day. Standing far from one another, it was a rare occurrence to see either of them interact outside of what was needed. I can barely recall the last time I'd seen them act affectionately towards one another. Nor the last time they'd shown any care or affection toward me. I brush past them relatively unnoticed. No words were spoken as I put on my coat and headed out the door. 

          Cold shivers shoot up and down my spine, the cold winds almost shoving me backward. I barely had the strength to keep my feet moving forward, let alone fight the gusts of wind. Suddenly my eye caught a glimpse of a small patch of Linnea flowers of which I'm named after. Two buds bloom from one stem, it was referred to by many as the "Twin Flower" which made looking at it now all the more painful. 

          The flower was frozen and dead - one of the buds having fallen off to the cold ground. "Why?" I asked myself, if there was a god how could he put me through this torture? Does he find this dark irony amusing? I fight back tears as one rolls down my cheek, I couldn't bare to stand here and look down at the plant any longer so I bolt off towards the school yard.

          Many people considered my birthing some what of a miracle. It was relatively unheard of for a woman in any of the poorer districts to birth twins. Due to the lack of food rations - keeping one baby alive inside your belly could prove a challenge. But my mother was stubborn and resilient. She couldn't accept losing her children as an option. Period. Which was foolish of her - even if you could keep your children fed long enough to stay alive - what was to keep them from getting called to the games at the reaping?  

          When my twin brother died... it was as if my entire family died with him. It's been years since he'd passed - but the wounds were fresh with all of us. If there was anything that gave me peace in his death - it's that he never had to participate in a reaping. In death he could stay pure - as if he didn't live in the world we do. It could be as if the Hunger Games didn't have to exist to him. Those thoughts however, brought me little peace. My nightmares were still filled with his face as I watched him breathe his last breath. The image of his skin clinging tightly to his bones. It was a constant reminder that it was all my fault.  

          Those thoughts plagued my brain more than anything else, it was a constant internal battle. Maybe if I hadn't snuck more than my share of our food onto my plate - he'd still be alive. But then I think what if I hadn't - would we both have suffered the same fate? That's when the guilt hits me - how could I even think that? Did I knowingly sacrifice my brothers life to secure my own? Am I any better than any one of the savages in the games? So many questions I had - but not one of them answered.

          I take a seat in the back of the classroom - our work days have gotten slower as they're less crops to tend in the winter. School was a place I'd felt comfortable, it was an escape. I didn't have to have my hunger stare me dead in the face here. There were no delectable fruits or crisp vegetables to taunt me with a meal I'd likely never see. My slender body slinks down in my chair - my eyes growing focused on the chalk board as all my pain slowly dissipates.. if only for a moment - there was peace.

Apologies for the double post - but I think I'm done! Let me know what ya'll think and if there needs to be any changes. This is the first time I've wrote something more like a book and less in the third person. It was a fun and needed change of pace.

Hi there!

I really love the history you've posted. Just one thing: you seem to imply that Linnea's twin died in the Games. That isn't possible according to our timeline, because we've actually played out the last 14ish Games. The District 11 male tribute for the 66th (two Games ago) was Ari Newton, and for the 67th it was Potato Earnest.

Of course, being in D11, there's other ways he may have passed away. Just edit in another reason for his death and this should be good to go. ^^

Yeah that's my bad I was trying to imply how he died without actually saying it. He actually died from hunger in his district, I think there is a part in the history that she says she was "glad he never had to participate in a reaping" because he died before he was even eligible to go into the games. I'll try and edit it to make it more clear.
