  My smile hadn't left my face since I had stepped foot on that stage. I was noticed, every person in District Nine now loved me. I was on my way to becoming a star, and nothing was going to stand in my way. I of course would express my innocence and lust, I was going to make the Capitol melt, damsel in distress was just the role for me. And after I have the Capitol drooling over me, only then will I show them my true potential. After a few moments of that boy and I standing on stage, accepting our recognition. We are finally asked to follow a few Peace Keepers into a back room, that's when I finally take the time to notice my District companion. 

    Ch...Chaske that was his name, it was slowly coming back to me. He laughed when his name was called. Perhaps the pressure broke him, and that is why the laughter broke out of his gut. Or perhaps he is just amused by the thought of his death. Chaske Parks, hmm the name doesn't ring a bell, he must not get out much. Most people of this district knew me as the girl who dances in the market. It wasn't the best title, but I was known. I take a moment to look him over. He had a pretty normal appearance, average to say the least. I wasn't sure how to approach him, I didn't want to intimidate him, or cause him to throw his guard up. It was my goal to be liked by as many people as possible. 

    "So something about all this is amusing to you"? I manage to say. I stare at him, waiting for a response, I was almost frightened by his presents. He made me feel uneasy. I pull the tie out of my hair and let my coarse raven locks, fall from their organized bun. I wonder if I would get to say goodbye to my mother and little brother. Though they have always underestimated my ability, they had still been my family, and I would like to at least say my farewells.

Chaske Parks

It's amazing how fast things change. Freedom was lurking right around the corner. I was so close to breaking free of the chains wrapped around me holding me to the Capitol and District Nine. And the moment my name was called, the wrapped tighter choking the life out of me. Yet I fight against them with all the strength I have. Crying isn't an option. Screaming isn't an option, so I turn towards my district partner. You poor poor soul. I hope you're ready for your doom. Little do they know I'll find my own freedom. I'll bust from the chains holding me back. I'll make sure everyone knows that Chaske Parks is better than that bastard Chance. Like my selfish mother. Father isn't here to stop me. He can't hold me back. Nobody can. Oh my dear Chaske, you'll wish you never said that. A smile plasters against my face, and it takes everything inside of me not to burst out laughing - I don't want to scare her away when I just met her.

Her entire attitude screams at me. Her demeanor. Everything about her needs to step back before the cockiness gets to her. It's like she's already won. Don't worry. We won't let her. My tongue slides across my teeth again like they did the moment the laughter ceased. And they pull the chains drawing me away from the audience sighing with relief. My eyes jolt around one last time looking for the foolish brother of mine, but he's not here. I chuckle softly. A price will be paid the moment the peacekeepers find out he's hiding. That he never showed up for the reaping. I turn away from them putting them at my back. None of them is needed. I don't need any of them for my journey towards freedom. Then it's just me and the girl, and I don't even remember what her name is. Something along the lines of Trotter.

She thinks she can speak to me like I'm some foolish animal under her control. My eyes narrow as I stare at her figuring out the best way to end her. I could just kill her now and save the Capitol some time, but they wouldn't like it. Little girl, little girl. Oh how I can't wait to spill your blood. Why am I laughing? Shouldn't everyone laugh right now? It's a joke. A sick joke, and now I'm apart of it, she's apart of it, twenty-two others are apart of it, and nothing is ever going to change it. "So something about all this is amusing to you?" A simple question. A simple one, that I want to answer. One that I an use to terrify her. One that will make her stay away from me. Yes. Oh yes. She has no fucking idea.

"Well, allow me to explain. I'll keep it short and simple. You see, you're going to die, and I'm going to enjoy watching it."

I watch him, tough running over his teeth, like a snake. He was vicious, and in no way was he going to show me mercy. He looked insane, sick to the core. Perhaps its just a defense, he is warding off the enemy, forcing them to quiver. Well I wasn't going to back down that easy. A little prick flashing his fangs wasn't going to make me budge. He was a scared little boy, nothing more, and I was going to make sure that he knew this. I was going to dance around him, taunting him with my words. At this point in time, he thinks he has a hold on me. Ha, if only he understood the way I like to play. I see him staring at me, lusting for me like a shark on a school of fish. His expression gave me the feeling of hunger, of remorse, and of terror. 

    I blink my lashes a few times, keeping myself from losing my posture. "Well, allow me to explain. I'll keep it short and simple. You see, you're going to die, and I'm going to enjoy watching it." These words slither out of his pursed lips, and ripple through my mind. I take a step back in disgust, but I try to make it at unnoticeable at possible. As if I just lost my balance or something. "Funny, isn't it? You predicting my future, as if you have some sort of power over me. Let me tell you something, be careful who you fuck with." I smirk, he isn't the only person capable of threats. He was afraid, and I was going to keep it that way. I hold my posture, holding my hand on my hip, keeping a slight arch in the small of my back.

Chaske Parks

We're enemies. I have no will to form friendships because it's pointless. It's a way of life. You make friends, and you lose friends. Right now is the perfect chance to lose them. Yet she's trying. She wants friendship, and that's something I cannot offer. We don't need her. The grin grows larger almost spreading from ear to ear laced with a hint of malice. My eyes catching on her taking in every bit of the prey. Every fiber inside tells me to pounce, but I can't. Pouncing before time is against the law. It's illegal. Not that I give a shit, but for once the fun will have to wait until my feet step foot into whatever damned pit the Capitol has prepared for the twenty-four of us. The pawns placed before them, and they hold the cards at their hands. I'm one of them. She's one of them, and soon they'll find out what I'm... we are capable of.

Instead of backing away, she stood there holding her ground. This girl has spunk. A lot of it, but her words aren't nice words. Don't do this. Oh little girl how you'll regret messing with me. Oh how I'll feast from your blood the moment you die. I clap my hands together laughing mocking her. Kill her! Kill her! Killing isn't for right now. I'll be able to end her in the arena. The moment the gong sounds. The moment we rush towards whatever hell's laid out before us. Turning towards her, I wipe the smile away from my face washing every single emotion away. She has no idea what she just walked into. No idea what she's done, and now she'll pay. Let me. Let me. Sweat coats the palms of my hands as I look at her over and over taking in every last bit of her.

"Little girl, little girl. Oh if only you know the damage you've cause. Don't you know we're both dead? WE'RE BOTH GOING TO FUCKING DIE! And I'm so fucking afraid of you." My eyes roll into the back of my head in an exaggerated motion while laughter falls from my lips before stopping suddenly. "You're blood is mine. Mark my words little girl. I'll feast on you."

The lion never truly slumbered with the lamb. He was drooling, his fangs flared, and his piercing eyes looking to my throat. There was no kindness in this boy, someone had taken it from him. Stripped him of every ounce of love he once felt. He was hurting, injured, but he didn't cry for help. I watch as his lips quiver, his eyes never stray. He had scaled me up and down, observing me. I was young, innocent, nothing could prepare me for that arena, and this boy has shown me this. Fame is something I had wanted for so long, but could my life be something of more worth? I was confused, my eyes rushing, searching for a place to stare other then his foul face. 

    "Little girl, little girl. Oh if only you know the damage you've cause. Don't you know we're both dead? WE'RE BOTH GOING TO FUCKING DIE! And I'm so fucking afraid of you." his words echo through the small room. It felt as if time froze, my spine shivered. He was afraid, afraid of what was to come. He was convinced that both of us were dead, but I wasn't dead, not yet at least. But was he thinking rationally? I was confused, I didn't know what to think. My eyes cant help but widen.. 

    I feel my body wanting to move forward, wanting to give him something to hold on to, but when I stray. These last words slip from his mouth. "You're blood is mine. Mark my words little girl. I'll feast on you." he spits these words from the clutches of his teeth. I cant help but feel my hand raise to cover my mouth, my eyes widen, and my breathe begin to rush. "What is wrong with you'? I say through a muffling hand. My voice was shaky, my body was hunched. I wasn't prepared for the journey ahead. At this moment the lion has selected its lamb.

Chaske Parks

Yes, very good. Very, very good. Watching her move around uneasy causes the smile to spread wider across my face, and now my teeth are showing for all the world to see. A lion only dances once before moving away like nothing's wrong. Birds fly through the sky freely every single day, and that's what I want. Freedom. I want to break free of the chains my family put me in. The Capitol. Yet I'm stuck. Each passing second the chains wrap tighter around me until I can't move, but the problem isn't me. It's her. The way my words made her move. Her hand flying towards her mouth like something's wrong. Everything's wrong. My weight shifts unevenly across my feet forcing me to sway back and forth.

Oh yes. The fun is only beginning, and I cant' wait to show them how I'll crash their kingdom down on top of them. I'll make them bathe in the blood the tributes shed. Now we're talking. And I turn towards her as she asks what's wrong with me. I cock my head slightly staring at her. If she only knew what was going on. If she only comprehended the work traveling through my mind in a single day. Then she would understand. No. Nobody understands. Nobody ever will understand, but now I have here where I want her. She's fearful. She's trembling, and I can't contain my excitement. "What's wrong with me? What's wrong with me?!" My voice growing louder and firmer with every word sliding off my tongue. I can almost taste the fear surging through her.

My hands fly up into the air like I'm giving up. She doesn't matter. Nobody does. I'm in the games, and I'm playing them. I don't care how many pteople I hurt because making it back is important. Breaking the chains holding onto me. Finding the freedom I've longed for. Every single thing is important! No, not everything, Chaske. You're worthless. Remember. Popping my neck, I make sure I'm facing her. I make sure she can see me and hear me because I'm only saying this once. Nothing else after that. "Nothing. Nothing at all. My dear. I'm just ready to play the games. I'm ready to become the predator. And you, little girl, are the prey."

"Might as well play along. Your only other option is dying. Because I'll personally make sure you never set foot in the district again."

"Nothing. Nothing at all. My dear. I'm just ready to play the games. I'm ready to become the predator. And you, little girl, are the prey." His lips purse in the most nauseating of ways. I feel my stomach churn, but with this I strengthen my stance. His game had warn off, I was done playing whatever this was. I was stepping down, stepping down until the real game shall begin. My hand moves from my mouth, shaking in discomfort. I press the hand back into my hip, straitening my back. I pull the hair out of my face, and wipe my swelled eyelids. I wasn't a pawn on his chess board. He wasn't going to move me willingly into play. I chose my own path.



"Might as well play along. Your only other option is dying. Because I'll personally make sure you never set foot in the district again." he coughs these words from the clutches of his chest. And with them I decide to depart. He was a lost boy. Someone had ruined him beyond repair, and my attempts at friendship were worthless. He wasn't looking for friends, he was on a blood lust. He wanted nothing but to hurt as many people as he could, and I was going to do everything in my power to make sure that doesn't happen. I cant help but feel a tear fall from the clutch of my lower lid, letting it stream down my cheek. He will realize that he is not player, he is nothing more then another pawn among many. All of which are being played by the same crooked man.
